Gym is OK but equipment in need of a refresh

I've just left Fitness4Less Colchester after 2 years. Spin classes are very good, never done any of the other classes. Main reason I left is the Gym equipment is old. Also changing rooms look a bit dated and in need of a refresh. Just joined PureGym Clacton where everything is new. It only opened a few months ago, so has that new feel so not a fair comparison. It may look run down after a few years. It would be nice if gyms replaced their equipment every 5 or 10 years. I suspect Fitness4Less equipment has been around for 20+ years. If you're not worried about that, the gym is fine otherwise.

New Malden Branch

New Malden Branch: The gym staff insist on keeping the A/C switched off, staff are rude, water is cold in the gym showers, pathetic music and there is a fire hazard we have been told due to the sauna system. Lockers are broken, and someone was told not to listen to music on their phone.

Joined Colchester venue

Joined Colchester venue. The jacuzzi was covered because of covid but that was a long time ago and still have not re opened it. The drains stink. The swimming pool is very small and the water is freezing it says to shower poolside before you get in the shower is broken. There is no disabled access to the pool for example a ramp or slope The sauna is filthy underneath. The whole place looks tired and in need of a refurb. One saving grace is the staff are really friendly and helpful and kind what a shame about the facilities though.

FFL New Malden, Rude staff, no shower doors, poor maintenance

I used to go to Fitness For less (2013 Sep-2019 Aug) located at New Malden (Next to Lidl) due to the price at the time being £20 per month, needless to say it was great value for money at the time although it would get overcrowded at times. Main issues I had were the gym wasn't maintained properly, which I didn't notice until someone mentioned to me.

The mens showers didn't have doors whichj i felkt uncomfortable with, my sister went ot the same gym and the womans showers had doors but not the men's. I raised this concern to the manager of the gym stating that kids could be showering and other men could see them.

The manager agreed with me and when the pool got refurbished (after 3 bloody months) they still did not bother in adding bathroom doors for the men's showers (shows how little they care in preventing such an indecent). I was obviously upset with this and immediately switched my gym in Aug/Sep 2019.

I switched to David Lloyds and though it was expensive the staff were friendly and the gym workouts and classes were amazing. Partly the reason why I went there was to use the study area.

Anyways fast forward till now I was in the area around Sat 5th Febuary and decided to pay my old gym a visit as I wanted a cheaper membership and to see if they made any changes.

I asked the receptionist (the ginger guy) how to sign up and he just told me to use the computers instead of trying to help. I asked him if they had finally installed doors in the men's showers and he stating no. I said to him that was the reason why I left the gym and that by having no bathroom doors for the showers allows potential predators to check out underage boys.

He responded with "That's none of your concern" in other words in none of my business. I was speaking normal and national to him but still he was rude. Matters worse they increased the gym price to £35 for that trash gym.

Wouldn't recommend Fitness For Less New Malden to anyone, trash place.

FIT FOR LESS MORE LIKE FIT FOR NOTHING Perth gym…

Perth gym shut down this year after closing for repairs and Covid, My partner and I both had yearly memberships
The company still wanted members to continue paying their membership during the pandemic as they would "soon be back open" after Covid and repairs, nothing from head office to keep members updated just group e mails from the gym manager, not her fault

No refund of membership has been returned and now no one to contact about getting our money back, no answer due to Covid, offices shut!!!! seemingly the landlords problem for issuing refunds!!!! Total sharks so avoid this franchise at all costs.

fit for less

I signed up my daughter in January, and due to this covid pandemic and as shes only 16 and that the Measures that the company has implemented around covid 19 is not to a high standard, so I asked for a refund because I want my daughter to be safe, I got told i couldn't get one , they'll only put it on hold witch is not what I want and trying to get them to answer an email is in posable, I got told that they don't have to give refunds as its not there fault, so how can every outher company give a refund, and if they don't have to give a refund what policy or Legislation is this under.

Average

Terrible. I joined the gym around six weeks ago and all seemed well. Today i received an email telling me that the gym was being enhanced and Fitness 4 less were asking members for a contribution, the email went on to say that my contribution would be debited from my account in January! I contacted the gym and was told that the 'enhancement fee' is explained in the terms and condition. The gym should have told me about any fees before I joined, simply helping themselves to my bank account and then pointing at their terms and condition is completely unacceptable. Needless to say I have cancelled the direct debit and will be joining a proper gym.
UPDATE: Fitness4less have now agreed to drop the matter and have cancelled my subscription, as requested.

Okay but not if you decide to cancel,!!

I joined fit4less while at university but decided to cancel after 6 months as I was moving home so contacted the gym to let them know i was moving and no longer needed the rest of the 6month contract they said it was fine I just I cancelled direct debit.
4 months later I got a phone call from RCS on behalf of fit4less saying I owned £200 as interest applied, obviously I was shocked how it amounted to so much I explained I was a student and and didn’t have money but the guy was really nasty and saying I had to pay, that I was given incorrect information from the gym staff.
I was so gutted, I feel cheated and now have to fork out this money. This also will have an effect on my credit file as am only 19. I would stay clear away from this fit4less especially if you decide to cancel.

Shocking behaviour by Fit 4 Less…

Shocking behaviour by Fit 4 Less Santry.
Besides the poor equipment of the gym, Santry closed down out of the blue few weeks ago with an email which was sent out to members at 11pm. No explanation, nothing. Then out of the blue, they reopened the gym without again any explanation and no compensation. To top ot all,.this evening, a debt collection company, acting on behalf of Fit 4 less emailed threatening me withwith a penalty fee and August membership when I had no contract and cancelled my debit order, straight sfter the gym closure.
I already emailed Gary, the gym manager direct and by the Fit 4 less website contact us link, asking to withdraw the penalty rtc.

The worst gym I have ever joined.

I have been a member of F4L for over two years, since the gym first opened. But after several unacceptable experiences at Tunstall F4L, I decided it was time to leave. I sent them an e-mail cancelling my subscription three days before the end of the month my subscription ran out. I received a reply;
“as per the terms and conditions you have to give 30 days’ notice to cancel your membership which begins from your next payment. You will have one final payment so please do not cancel your direct debit within this time. Please note that if the final payment is not made and the terms & conditions you agreed to when you signed up are not followed the account may eventually be sent to debt collection”.
The threat of debt collection was completely out of the blue. There was no reason to threaten me in that way. I had never signed any agreement. A previous e-mail from them had stated in part;
“I will keep you on the no contract basis if I do not hear from you”.
I therefore continued with the no contract membership I had been verbally promised when joining. Judging by the reports on this web site I’m not the first to be threatened. I had heard about gyms falsely claiming that their customers had a contract, when in fact they didn’t, but I never believed it would happen to me.
There were several times I was not happy with my treatment there. The worst was when they were doing a class around the machines in the main part of the gym, and I was told to vacate a machine as they wanted it for a class. I refused, pointing out that I paid my subscription like everyone else. The person teaching the class then swore at me. However, he didn’t pursue the matter further. He must have known he was in the wrong. Another member of staff who heard him, (female) apologized on his behalf.
Another occasion happened when I came in behind two other people, and the member of staff obviously knew the people in front of me, and let them in for free. When I tried to enter without using the finger print machine, he held up his hand in front of me to stop me, shut the exit gate, and walked away without a word.
I have been a member of four different gyms over the years, but I have never experienced a gym as bad as this one.

Illegal policies

Like many ppl said, if you want to cancel, you have to give them 30 days notice, which practically means that you'll be paying them for an extra 2 months after you wanna cancel. Happy days ! Pathetic, don't fall for it.

They are ripping you off

They are ripping you off! Never give your card details, they do not allow you cancel anytime. When you cancel your membership, they dont reply from the official mail adress that is at their website. The staff direct you to another mail adress and they demand fee for after month! When you object, they say “the mail adress you sent to, we don’t know!”

Unacceptable practice.

My daughter and her 2 friends, all aged 17, visited the Wellingborough gym. They were offered a trial session and half way through were badgered to sign up for membership. When the girls said they were 17 the staff altered their dates of birth on the joining forms so they appeared to be 18. Completely unacceptable. Membership cancelled and taken up elsewhere on a student contract.

OVOID !!! Terrible experience

OVOID !!! I was called and offered promotional free month of gym membership. I agreed and visited Fit4Less Wembley once in May this year. After the first visit there was an attempt to charge me for monthly payment (despite the fact that the offer was supposed to be free). My account was not a direct debit account, so they were unable to charge me. After that I received tonnes of emails that I must pay immediately. Also my pin code was cancelled, so I was not able to use gym facilities. So I never used them again. They kept sending me email that I must pay despite the fact that I cancelled membership. So they forwarded my details to CRS agency to collect the debt, which is now estimated to be 123 pounds). Obviously crazy prise for being in the gym ONCE. Terrible service. All the attempts to contact them were unsuccessful, as they can't even figure out what they are dealing with. Totally disappointing experience. By the way Wembley gym is sooo dirty and stuff are extremely lazy. AVOID THIS TERRIBLE GYM.
