I have hired the car from these from November 2025. I have never had a deposit payment back.
Every time I have dropped the car off at schiphol airport, always been told good and signed the tablet.
I have emailed them a number of times, as the amount of money they actually owe me. Me is willing into the thousands.
This has been going on from November 2025 until March 2026.
I have a number of engineers working for me all around Netherlands.
I no longer use this Tim pot company. Absolutely disgusting customer service when I’ve called them to try and explain as I said I have emailed 21 times now with no reply.

Bad customer service, unsuited cars to winterly conditions

We ordered a car and mentioned specifically that we would drive to Germany, from the Netherlands. Both in the Netherlands AND in Germany, there were winterly conditions. Theyl let you pay for a cross boarder card, but send you in a car, in winter, with summer tyres. Not even 4 season tyres. This is not allowed in Germany, and in addition dangerous. They don't answer any complaints either. AVOID EUROPCAR!!!

I rented a car through booking.com from Europcar at the end of December, 2025. They charged me 150 euros extra on my credit card after the delivery of the car. I have contacted them multiple times via email, they send an automatic reply that they will reply back. I even get an apology email that it takes longer than expected but not an actual reply. Yesterday I realised that they charged me another 50 euros with no explanation. I cannot reach them by phone, by email and I am getting charged without information. I am really disappointed.

Misleading practice

We booked a car from Europcar on Booking.com. On the day, we went to collect the car. As mentioned on Booking.com and on their terms and conditions page, this is their policy regarding credit cards: "Credit cards accepted: American Express, VISA en Eurocard/Mastercard. Debit Cards,Electron Cards and Union Pay Creditcards are not accepted. Two credit cards are required for Full Size, Premium, Luxury and Special categories (e.g. BMW 3 series or higher). The credit cards have to be on the name of the renter."

Unfortunately, when you go into the 45-page PDF, on page 6 they mention that they do not accept Bunq or Revolut. I have rented cars from several companies who accept these cards. Hertz actually accepted it as we were turned away.

The result of this is that I am out €500,-. Beyond the monetary impact, the person was rude, unhelpful and lacked any basic empathy.

The worse car rental place

The worse car rental place. Never ever get a rental car from Europcar in Amsterdan Schiphol airport. The people working at the desk are very rude and nasty. They don’t provide decent customer service and you never get the car you actually reserved. They treat you like a piece of shit and wants to sell you a more expensive rental car. DON’T RENT A CAR FROM THEM!!

Europcar kept 235€ of our deposit.. will never book there again!

I am very disappointed with my experience with Europcar.

I was charged twice for the processing fee for the same penalty, which is clearly a mistake. I have tried to contact Europcar several times to resolve this issue, but I have not received any response at all.

This situation shows a lack of customer care and responsibility. I expect Europcar to refund the duplicated fee immediately and provide proper confirmation.

I hope Europcar takes this complaint seriously and resolves the issue as soon as possible.

Unfair Damage Charge – Deeply Disappointed with Our Experience

We are writing this review to inform others about our experience with this car rental company KEDDY BY EUROPCAR NETHERLANDS as what happened to us could easily happen to anyone. We have been treated unfairly and held responsible for damage that we are confident we did not cause.

When we collected the vehicle, we were instructed to take photographs of any existing damage. Unfortunately, the car was parked in a poorly lit area, making it difficult to inspect properly. It now appears we may have overlooked a small dent on the passenger door. When returning the car, one of the employees used a torch under full lighting to point out this dent. At first, we could not see it at all, as it blended in with the car’s natural body contour. Even her colleague, whom she asked for a second opinion, did not notice the dent until she specifically indicated its location.

We are certain this damage was present before our rental, likely missed during a previous inspection. Given how subtle and difficult it is to detect, it would be very easy for anyone to overlook it.

Despite requesting a review of the situation, we were charged €1,269 without any further correspondence or opportunity to discuss and resolve the matter, as the company’s own policy states should occur.

We are extremely disappointed and frustrated by how this has been handled. We also question whether similar claims have been made against other customers in the past with the same vehicle Volkswagen Tayron registration HXG-04-N

This experience has left us feeling deeply dissatisfied, and we would urge others to exercise caution when renting a vehicle from this company. Always ensure the car is inspected in full lighting and that every mark, however small, is documented in writing before you drive away.

CROOKS/SCAMMERS

£42 for administration for a speeding ticket is absolutely scandalous!! I paid the ticket itself which was 49euros and then Europcar Schiphol charged me £42.00 to send me the letter. Absolute CROOKS, stay away.

As written in other reviews

As written in other reviews. Avoid Europcar Amsterdam. Nobody walks with you around the car at pickup and nobody wants to walk with you around the car at drop off.. The email with damage will come immediate and the money being deducted even quicker. So many emails and calls, nobody wants to reply.

Unfair damage charge

Unfair damage charge – avoid Europcar Amsterdam!
We rented a car at Europcar Amsterdam (EUR 153.94 for 3 days). At pickup, no staff member inspected the car with us – instead we were told to “take pictures if there was damage.” Upon return, the employee immediately pulled out a flashlight and focused only on the rims. He claimed that two tiny scratches (0.1 cm x 4 cm) on the wheel rims were caused by us – even though we only parked on normal flat roads.

When we questioned this, another Europcar employee drove off with the car. We insisted on taking photos, but were told: “If you get a bill, you’ll just have to say the scratches were already there.” Before we even boarded our flight, a EUR 190.01 “damage fee” (including a mysterious “Damage Administration Fee pf EUR50”) was already emailed to us!

This is a classic scam tactic: no inspection at pickup, sudden microscopic “damage” discovered at return, and instant charges before you can dispute them.
Looking at other reviews of Europcar Amsterdam, this seems to be a pattern: pre-existing damage not documented, hidden fees, and aggressive charges.

I strongly urge Europcar to cancel this unfair damage fee. Otherwise, I will escalate through my credit card company, consumer protection authorities, and make sure others are warned.

Advice to future renters: take extensive pictures and videos of every detail before leaving, and think twice before using Europcar Amsterdam.

We had such an awful experience with Europcar and will never hire a car from them again. We were charged for a small scratch, that we had not done. As soon as we dropped the car off, there was a man waiting, who went round the vehicle with a fine tooth comb. The lady on reception was rude and spoke over us. She told us, she had been in the business for 16 years and knew we had damaged the vehicle, which we hadn’t. We couldn’t talk to her and she said, it didn’t matter as she had our deposit. We felt as though we had been conned. Please don’t use this company as they will take your deposit for scratches you have not done.

Cheated with a small scratch in the rim

When returning the vehicle, an employee noticed a small scratch on the right front rim, as if he had already known about it. I did not notice this when I picked up the vehicle. But the next day, I took a photo of the rim by chance.
The scratch can be seen in this photo. I know that I didn't hit anything before that.
Europcar charged me EUR 175 for the scratch.
Unfortunately, I have to assume that I am not the first or last person to pay for this scratch. Since the scratch was so small that I didn't see it when I picked up the car, I suspect it was made intentionally by Europcar.

Young Driver fee scam

I booked a rental car with Travelocity, a subsidiary of Expedia Group, for the rental period 11 June 2025 to 25 June 2025. The Travelocity booking confirmation stated the rental company would be Europcar and in the ‘rental information’ they mentioned that “additional charges or restrictions may apply for drivers under 25”. At time of rental I was 25 years old and therefore no such additional charge or restriction should have been applicable.

When picking up the vehicle I was informed that a Young Driver surcharge would be billed for this rental. I contested this since the terms of my rental agreement clearly stated that “additional charges …. may apply for drivers under 25”. However, the Europcar desk clerk at Schiphol airport (AMS) in the Netherlands was clear that no car would be rented to me if I did not sign for the Young Driver surcharge. Both me and the additional driver were 25 years old at time of rental and we were billed 300 Euros each for a total of 600 Euros for ‘Young Driver’, even though Europcar’s own rental agreement/invoice clearly states “Young Driver (19Y – 24Y)”.

I sent my formal refund claim to Europcar in The Netherlands on June 30thy. They acknowledged receipt by standard auto-reply that same and sent me another standard email on July 5th apologizing “for the delay in analyzing your case”. Since them my follow-up email on July 8, 9, 10, 12 and 15 have remained unanswered.

Europcar’s website has since been updated to show the Young Driver fee applying to anyone 26 and under. This was not the case when I booked the rental and the original booking should have been respected; even Europcar’s own rental agreement system hadn’t been updated to reflect the new age policy of Europcar, as my copy shows ‘Young Driver 19Y-24Y’.

Today I (finally) spoke with a Travelocity supervisor, who claims he tried to get a refund but after about 75 minutes on the phone he concluded that Europcar was unwilling to reimburse the Young Driver fee.

Europcar, FYI: Case #23621727

Only received an email telling me there is a fine almost 2 months after car return but without details; and the admin fee charged by Europcar is ridiculously high, which is almost the same as the fine. The customer services (Oussama) refused to provide the tariff / policy showing the calculation of the admin fee.

Unsafe to rent

When I picked up the car it was not prepared for rental.
The safety equipment was missing.
And after I few days the car ran out of oil.

I have tried contacting the company several times, no one ever picks up the phone.

No one answer the email.
Use another company - this one is not safe

We have perfect experience with AVIS and Budget, but Europcar does not seem safe nor professional.

Europcar’s Customer Service is a Joke

Europcar’s Customer Service is a Joke – Stay Away!

Europcar’s "We appreciate your feedback" response is nothing more than a PR stunt to make it look like they care—they don’t.

After intensive contact with their so-called customer service, I can say with full confidence: they are robotic, unhelpful, and completely lacking in basic human decency.

They don’t actually listen to your concerns.
They don’t actually investigate complaints.
They don’t actually care about their customers.

Here’s the reality: Once they have your credit card details, you are completely powerless. They charge what they want, when they want, and their response to disputes is always the same:
“You signed the contract.”
“It’s company policy.”
“We can’t do anything.”
And now, after I’ve already been put through the frustration of dealing with their useless customer service, they pretend to care by asking if they can “help.” You had your chance—many times. You just chose to ignore everything.

AVOID Europcar at all costs. Their business model thrives on taking advantage of customers with hidden fees, unfair charges, and a total lack of accountability. If you want peace of mind, rent from ANY other company.

A Warning for Future Customers: Europcar Netherlands and Misleading Practices

I booked a car through my All Accor membership with Europcar. Upon arrival, I was asked to sign a receipt for €201, which I assumed was the amount I had originally reserved (€201 including VAT). However, I later discovered that the amount was excluding VAT, and the employee had altered my reservation without informing me, including adding insurance I had not requested.

When I tried to address this issue, it was nearly impossible to contact Europcar. Phone calls went unanswered, emails were ignored, and it wasn’t until I reached out via social media that I received a response. The absurd part? The response was in Spanish, even though I rented the car in the Netherlands, speak Dutch and French, and live in France. At no point was my question taken seriously. Europcar kept pointing out that I had signed the receipt, completely ignoring the context under which this happened.

To me, this feels like a fraudulent practice: getting customers to sign without full transparency and then refusing to take responsibility. Europcar seems to mislead its customers this way, and sadly, I am not alone. The many negative reviews on Trustpilot (an average rating of 1.9) confirm that financial disputes with Europcar are a recurring issue.

I strongly advise future customers to be extremely cautious and triple-check everything before signing anything. This experience has completely eroded my trust in Europcar.

They are scammers

Don’t trust this company. We rent a car from them at Tashkent airport office. There was no problem when we paid for the rent and the deposit. After we returned the car back, the employee said that our deposit will be refunded within 1 month. After 1 month we didn’t received the deposit. We had contact, everytime they told us that they have problems with the banks. Also after 3 months we didn’t hear anything about our deposit. The employee gives the nummer of his manager, he didn’t also answer our calls or messages. They are scammers! Don’t rent a car from them. I’m going to take legal actions, this is not normal. Give our money back!!!!!!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
