I recently went to EBT in Taunton to have two new Bridgestone tyres fitted, expecting, as a Bridgestone-owned company, they’d naturally have access to the latest Bridgestone tyres. I was surprised when they told me the tyres I wanted weren’t even on their database. Oddly enough, a certain well-known web-based tyre shop did have them — so I ordered the tyres there and had them delivered to and fitted by EBT.

The initial fitting experience was good — the tall chap who dealt with me at the time was excellent, very helpful, and accommodating of the tight timescales I was under due to a caravan delivery. He did mention (rather strangely) that while EBT couldn’t get those Bridgestones direct, “some bloke” could get them. That alone struck me as odd for a Bridgestone company, but I stuck with what I had ordered properly.

Unfortunately, later that day my car suffered an engine failure, and after three months off the road, I finally collected it. Only then — when driving at normal speed — did I notice the rear tyres hadn’t been balanced. Since I’d only covered around 100 miles since EBT fitted them, I thought I’d pop in and get it sorted.

On arrival, the place was quiet — only one car in the bay, nobody else around — yet I still had to ring the bell to get someone to come to reception. The gentleman who eventually came out was impeccably groomed, but less than impeccably mannered. When I made a light comment about how quiet it was (hoping they might fit me in), it went right over his head and I got nothing but a grunt.

I explained the situation clearly: the car had been off the road due to breakdown, hence why I hadn’t noticed the imbalance earlier, but it was clear now. He looked at me as though I were making it all up, muttered “that was 6 months ago” (I corrected him — it was 3), and still acted disbelieving. When I suggested checking their records for mileage and pointed out the sealant was still visible on the tyres, he reluctantly agreed — but his next line was, “and what would you like me to do about it?”

I asked if they could rebalance them — to which I got another grunt and a curt, “well, there’ll be a charge.” I said if that’s the case, so be it. I handed over my keys, only for him to hand them straight back saying it wouldn’t be done today and I’d have to come back in three days.

When I queried — given the empty-looking workshop — whether they really couldn’t squeeze me in, I was given a lecture about how rude it was of me to “demand” same-day service, how they were 8 team members down, and so on. For the record, I never “demanded” anything — I simply asked, as a customer, if they could help.

Frankly, the attitude was unnecessary, dismissive and left me feeling like I was being treated as a liar or a nuisance. In the end, I drove down the road to another independent tyre shop who balanced the tyres there and then, while serving other customers, for £12. Job done — no fuss.

It’s disappointing to see such a lack of customer care and basic courtesy. What happened to exceeding customer expectations, or even just meeting them? I won’t be going back to EBT Taunton, and I won’t be buying tyres “from some bloke” either.

I needed an auxiliary battery for my camper van, and the staff at ETB couldn't have been more helpful.
Found me a comparable battery, made sure it fitted battery compartment, and advised me where to get new connectors,as mine aren't standard.

Update - It turns out that they had not balanced my front wheels either and this was confimed by a different fitter when i had them balanced today 14/7/25.

Visited the Stratford-upon-Avon branch to have two new front tyres fitted. The staff were friendly and the service was completed promptly. However, when I was handed the keys, I noticed the locking wheel nut had been left on the wheel – thankfully I spotted it before driving off. Also, my steering wheel was left quite dirty, likely from oil or grease, as gloves didn’t appear to have been used when handling the car.

I returned on Thursday 19/06/25 to have the rear tyres replaced. Again, the team were friendly and welcoming. But once I got home, I noticed both valve caps were missing and the wheels hadn’t been balanced. When I called, I was told that balancing is usually done as standard, so it seems this was simply overlooked.

To their credit, they asked me to bring the car back in and rebalanced the wheels free of charge. 👍 However, for the third time, the steering wheel was left grubby again, which was disappointing.

I’d strongly recommend that the team wear gloves when moving customer vehicles or, alternatively, allow customers to drive their own cars into the bay. It’s a small step that would go a long way in improving the customer experience.

Very quick, efficient service, staff were helpful, I was dealt with immediately, competitive price too.

Have used this company based in Leamington Spa for many years doing my MOT on my car. They look after my car with respect and provide a very good service. Everyone I have met there throughout the years is always polite and professional.

Our car was booked in for a brake check due to a high pitched sound, and booked for new brake pads and discs . On inspection we were told brakes were fine and no need to change at this point . Really really appreciated the honesty of the garage and will be returning when they do need changing . Thank you guys

If there is a bit of a wait there are lots of shops a couple of mins away by foot.

ETB is my local garage in Lydney. I have always found them helpful, friendly and obliging.
Today I took my car in as I was worried about the oil level. Immediately I was booked in by the young lady at reception, eho is always polite & cheerful! & then seen to by Jimmy who not only checked the oil & gave me a quick masterclass on dipstick levels & how to check the oil levels on the cars' dashboard but also checked my tyres for me. Thanks guys!

I needed it a two tyres to be replaced ASAP and guys at Taunton branch were extremely helpful and quick, so I could get back on the road.

ETB in Brierley Hill, West midlands gave me a good price for supply and fitting of 4 Hankook tyres. Offered to get the tyres in the very same day but i opted for the following morning.
On that morning two fitters got straight on the job and within minutes all wheels were off, tyres off, new ones on, balanced and wheels put back on. Very slick operation,No messing about, just got on with the work..... very polite and friendly staff.
Had my wife's tyres fitted there a couple of years ago. The experience was exactly the same.... Great!!

Really pleased with service this morning. I had ordered my tyres online following a blow out. Was recommended ETB by other people and I was not disappointed. The guys put on the new tyre and replaced the spare as well as disposing of the old tyres. They also were really kind and put on 4 new hub caps (luckily I had a spare set as one went M.I.A. In the blowout) even though this was outside the fitting costs I'd paid for. Big relief as it's an older car and I couldn't source a spare to match the other three.

Definitely recommend ETB. I would add that they had a number of options for all budgets and I found them very competitive compared to the place I used previously.

I'll be using ETB from now on!

I have just been to etb in Christchurch street to have tyres fitted and track the wheels, ive got to say what a great bunch of guys that work there so helpful and so quick i would recommend you people to everyone, also the young lady in the office so helpful. Thank you all etb.

Avoid them, wont even refund a cancelled MOT, im glad i did now. Keep the £100 you must need it more than me.

Just had 4 new tyres fitted today 01/05/25 ,as I have used ETB on many occasions in Cheltenham, decided to use them again as I have found that the service and workmanship is of high standards, even the price is competitive. To be honest would not go elsewhere.

Fantastic service from the ETB Tyres in Llanelli,prompt, courteous and very efficient also good to see girls now taking up a role that only a few years ago was dominated by male workers,job well done won't be going anywhere else.
