Epson XP-4205…
I recently purchased an Epson XP-4205 and installed the Epson Smart Panel app to print and scan from my Android device. Unfortunately, I haven’t managed to print a single document successfully—every job is cancelled partway through, without any reason or action on my part. The ink levels are full, the connection is strong, and there are no reported driver or firmware issues, so I cannot understand what’s causing this failure.Printing really should not be this difficult. I’ve tried multiple printing apps, yet the same problem persists. My partner’s new Samsung Chromebook also cannot connect properly to the XP-4205, which is apparently incompatible. Having to set it up manually every time you log in makes it simply not worth the effort. I don’t understand why some models in Epson’s current range are compatible and others are not, and it’s unclear where the problem lies.A printer should work straight out of the box with any modern device, without requiring hours of troubleshooting. If that expectation is unrealistic, Epson should clearly state compatibility limitations on the packaging so customers can make informed decisions before purchase. If the issue lies with the Smart Panel app, there should be a straightforward way to report faults directly through it. And if this is a known bug, it should have been fixed by now.As it stands, this situation is unacceptable. It feels once again that consumers are being taken for granted—drawn in by affordable products and ongoing ink subscription models, yet left without proper customer support. The printer and its app are unreliable and poorly supported. I cannot recommend this product.
