Encor installed in about 3 weeks!
Encor installed in about 3 weeks as they told me. Panels look nice and it covers my power needs! I opted not to get a battery as Nate advised. I have a generator anyway so I dont really need it.
I have had them up about 6 months now with no issues!
Everything was installed easy breezy
Everything was installed easy breezy! My solar payment covered my whole utility bill like they said it would. I have had several questions since after it was put on my roof and the guy is usually quick to respond to my text.
The city took 2 weeks for permission to operate but thats the city for you! The actual installation on my roof took 5 weeks, then 2 weeks before they were running.
The panels look nice too.
Perspective
Columbia SC office SPECIFICALLY has a lot of kinks to work out. Whoever is smart enough to read the this before applying or excepting this job, I hope this helps out a lot. Your boss/manager/trainer/recruiter is overloaded & has 5 different positions. Which means things run over schedule. Poor time management is afoot. The indeed post is very misleading. It shows 30 an hour + commission but you don’t get both its either or (whichever u make the most of) during the four week ramp up. 4 week ramp up is your 30$ an hour field training save this money up. After that it’s straight commission. You're told pros get thousands of dollars weekly, are in the six-figure range & living well but most people there don’t make anything past 800. You will also notice most people around you are all new or training, no employee in the Columbia area last past four weeks. From my time there about 15 people have quit or said this job doesn’t sustain them financially. You use this app called “TIME” to clock in your hours but mind you….your going to get seriously docked. That includes lunch breaks and driving time, bathroom breaks at your local fast station etc. You only get paid for pitches (the tech meets with homeowner) if they close or sell. Your walking ALOT heat, snow, or rain but don’t get paid for it. No certified office as of yet they travel from the library to a rental space in sandhills. Meetings can waste your time & be quite useless, plus you will get on the doors late. Cheap incentives, keep track of your own numbers, and remember this is not reliable full-time job. You’ll notice people there have two or three other jobs as well. Miss information is quite common because certain things aren’t explained until later on. You don’t get compensated for gas or mileage so just carpool until your check hits!! We aren’t provided official badges either. Sincerely suggest you hire more Managers+Techs.
Also as a customer I’ve experienced TERRIBLE customer service & dysfunctional panels that won’t turn on, installation but no follow up & STILL having an electric bill, panel bill & loan, backed up on repair parts.
Installation Error and High Bills
They installed solar panels on the north side of my home because the installer thought it would be easier. I contacted them and was told it was too late and I would have to pay them again to move the panels.
The entire point of getting solar panels is that our electricity bills would be lower. Our electricity bills have remained the same as energy prices have increased and the panels are not facing the sun. Now we pay for electricity and solar panels which comes to approximately double what we were paying before the installation.
When they change their, it's a bad sign
They changed their name to hide the terrible management feedback. The Austin manager is terrible. No feedback, all ego. Buyer beware and don't say you weren't warned when the job never gets installed. Call the manager in Austin - Dave. He will tell you how cool he is and how great the company, then forget why you called. Joke.
System was installed in December 2019
System was installed in December 2019, about 3 months after it was supposed to be installed. After that the headaches just got worse. Install failed inspection, needed to have additional work done. After that, encore has still (as of June 202) not sent the correct paperwork to CPS for my solar rebate. On top of that: they either lied about what constitutes a local company, or were just fraudulent about how well they knew the program which is leading me to only receive half of the solar rebate. I can't recommend using a different company enough.
Go Green, Love Solar
Was considering solar panels for some time but was always turned off by the expense. When Craig C., the Encor Solar sales representative, came to my house and explained the system, the benefits, the warranty and the total cost I was sold. From the information provided I was able to figure out my break even date (cost for solar verses cost for power), my break even date is 9 years then no more electricity bills. Craig set up everything delivery, installation, electrical hook-up, and follow up. All went off as planned and on time. Delivery, installation, electrical and office personnel were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and Covid 19 aware.
My system was installed 6 months ago and I haven't had an electric bill since. In months 1 thru 3 I banked $98 worth of power, I used $58 of that over the next two high use months and am now building excess power again. Office personnel set me up so I can monitor my system as a whole or each panel individually any time I want, this is a big plus. Bottom line when you figure cost over time, the warranty that comes on the system and the benefit to the planet the decision is easy. A recommendation I do have is if possible get your own financing the Credit Union that Oncor Solar has a contract with I do not like. I"ve worked with many Credit Unions over the years but none like this one.
Shady sales practices and horrible…
Shady sales practices and horrible customer service- they take your money and don't care about you after that!! RUN!!
We used Encor solar to install panels this year. We had only been in our new house 5 wks but the sale guy created a system without asking for historical bills or waiting like he should have. Since the panels were turned on, our kwh usage has doubled and even tripled for some months. At first they wanted to say that we don't have enough panels then they came back and said their estimates were higher than what we are using. I cannot get timely return emails or phone calls! They will not send someone out to check on the issue and they are saying I have to wait to get 12 months of bills so I can go through the whole process again to add more panels and pay for those! Which is the problem, Encor? I need more panels because your sales guy didn't build the system correctly and told us our bill would be "wiped out" or are the estimates correct?

Encor Solar, Austin Texas
I was Introduced to the renewable programs when Frankie came to my home to explain them to me. She was very polite and informative so we scheduled a meeting with Technician Erik Koob. He was great in helping us understand how solar worked and walked us through the whole process. We have had our system for about 8 months now and the wife and I are truly happy we made this great decision! Overall Encor Solar is a great company to work with! -Mark Zamora, Austin Texas

These guys are fantastic!
Encore has made going solar incredibly easy! From the first person who knocked on our door to the system up and running, it has been nothing but a pleasure. I'm sorry that I can't remember the first persons name, he was great, friendly, funny, knowledgeable, just a good person.
Or representative, Eric Koob, has been fantastic, keeps on top of things, shares information, again, a great experience.
I've been wanting to go solar for years, but working with Encore has made even better than I'd hoped!
The permits were sent in the month of…October
The permits were sent in the month of October. The roof work was done rather quickly. It is now January 2nd and the furnace thermostats for the too furnaces in my house have still not been installed. I have spoken of this matter to the salesman who sold us the system. I bought the matter to the attention of the installers on several occasions. I sent a email to the office
A long process but very thorough

Craig Christianson and Team Provide Great Customer Service
Craig Christianson has provided excellent customer service via status reports as well as answering our questions. I am impresses with his professionalism, knowledge and interest in meeting our needs. The work completed by other members of the Encore Solar Team has been very responsive in moving our project through the required steps. I am impressed with the efficiency demonstrated. At this point in the install (Panel Placement Review/Approval) I am thoroughly satisfied with our purchase decision. Larry Hopkins 10-27-2018

I was pleased to work with the young gentleman's they they were going to Curtis and very polite and very professional I ask a lot of questions and it seemed to me that they had the answers it was a pleasure to meet them and work with them
VERY disappointed
VERY disappointed. Encor came to my house several months ago and explained that we were eligible for solar. My husband and I were not in a financial position where we could take on any crazy payments but our rep assured us that there was no “catch” and that everything would balance out in our benefit. While our electric bill has been lowered, to our surprise we’ve come to find that we are now also responsible for the monthly loan payment on the panels (= $57/month in addition to electric bill). I feel completely taken advantage of, considering I sat on the couch with the Encor rep for almost 2 hours, repeatedly asking what we should expect to pay monthly and if there were any catches or other financial components we should factor in. He made it sound like everything would be rolled into one and that we would be paying on average $64/month year round. I would encourage Encor to train their reps to mention that very large piece of information, especially with people who are completely new to the solar world. It may be a sales tactic or it may seem obvious to the reps but I assure you it was not obvious to us. Will not be recommending this business.
I inherited this home with Encor Solar…
I inherited this home with Encor Solar after the recent death of my cousin Gilbert Conwoop. I am not sure how it works. E-bills amounts (City of Austin) are increasing.
Confused
I found the salesman George kind of confusing. He didn’t really start with information about the solar system. He was more interested in talking about the future possibilities and his work with WAPA and FERC and about establishing a CCA. Really over my head and didn’t get a good feel for the system. In the end I went with another company.
