Useless device. No trust in company. Seek a different solution.
The device itself didn't detect any of my seizures. They are caused by a glioblastoma, not epilepsy, so I am actually MOST ok about this.
But man. Their technical support is horrible, they also didn't mention the return policy, even when it was clear the device wasn't going to work. I lucked on it while re-reading the terms. It took multiple calls or emails to get them to respond, they missed questions I already answered until I made a new screenshot and CIRCLED the part of the screenshot most relevant, because the one without the circle was too difficult to read (6 entries, instead of 4)
Only if you need it
Device seems to be top of the line - but the app and the company are bottom of the barrel.
Just makes you go insane!!
Just makes you go insane!!! Disconnects from internet every 5 minutes and vibrates 4times to let you know. And no, u cant turn this feature off, and no ur phone has never disconnected from the Internet in the first place!!! Also if u have a nickel allergy...u cant change the band so that sucks too. Do not buy this product!!!!!!! Look elsewhere!!!!!!
Not for farmers?
This watch did not work for me. There were too many false alerts when working on farm equipment. The algorithm was learning but I feel attaining acceptable performance would have taken me beyond the free trial period. I also had problems at night as the watch kept losing connectivity with the phone. The flashing light warning of the disconnect would wake up my wife.
Tech support was superb as was the refund procedure.
Yes, it works
We had an Embrace1 for many years which we had no real complaints about. It worked reliably and consistently, although with any new technology it helps if you're a little tech-savvy and read the instructions. We're looking to upgrade to an Embrace2 after about 7 years of use - only because the battery is showing signs of not holding charge anymore. Yes, there is the occasional false alert when our daughter is fidgeting at night, but that is a small issue compared with the peace of mind it delivers. Haven't experienced any of the customer service problems that others have expressed here. Highly recommended.
looks like a SCAM - BE CAREFULL
s is the worst business i found on line >>> that should be ban from doing business in USA
after i got a doctor prescription for i buy the device, they said has to be in their form !!(WHY?)
i return to the doctor office, got a prescription in their form , now EMPATICA saying has to be with another product name ( This is a business for peoples with EPILEPSY and several DISABILITY?)
they offer a product that is not on sale any more: Embrace 2 (HOW THEY ARE LIE?)
i left a message on their phone > never answered and the emails i sent was answered after 1 week, saying to open a account, asking first to authorize spread my personal information (cookie)
they are not helping peoples with epilepsy - they are scam
if someone knows where i can make a complaint at Department of Health or Government entity pleas write here
thanks W wagner
The customer service is not responsive…
The customer service is not responsive at all.
It takes forever to receive the watch (1 month), this is not a luxury watch, it’s a watch that prople a tually need to monitor seizures, can’t they ship it in few days considering also how much it costs?! In addition to that, After waiting one month I received it and it was not working, customer service hasn’t responded and still I do not have a watch. I wish I could review here the watch instead!
Avoid/ how to report an issue when it arises
Bought the Embrace2 watch and gave it & the company second & third chances in terms of resolution of issues encountered. I’ve had numerous issues with my watch & hence would no longer recommend this device. It will disconnect randomly whilst ‘in range’ with good WiFi, the battery life is not as described, the mate app is non value add (data is constantly incorrect / not recorded so would highly recommend deleting that app) and worst of all is the customer service (who are only interested in issues you are encountering when you highlight you’ve made a complaint to the FDA). My strong recommendation is that when you have any issues/ problems with the watch that you report them online via the FDA as the company are obligated to investigate them that way and at least the FDA will have visibility on issues customers are encountering.
Yes!!!
I have so far found this watch to be very useful for me as an epileptic 14 year old girl ever since I was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 8 my parents have been very overprotective and this watch is so far working very well and has helped me get my freedom back (but is a nightmare to set up)
Embrace "watch"
Honestly, I've been trying to find kind words about the company empatica, but I cannot put it succinctly. I will state the facts, and let comsumers decide. Fact 1: This is not an actual, working watch. Not only does the "time" turn on randomly, it also doesn't consistently tell you the correct time. Fact 2: This "watch" is not compatible with most devices. I had a new, perfectly good working Motorola phone, and customer service said, "it's the phone, try another". So I purchased a new phone, a Samsung that they said would work. Still not compatible with the "watch". Customer support suggested trying another phone. My husband and mother tried connecting to their phones- my mother's worked, my husband's did not. They both have Motorola phones. The "watch" obviously has a HUGE connection error. Fact 3: Empatica is trying to sell something, to disabled people, that doesn't work. These people are trying to make money. Helping with epilepsy? I'm highly skeptical.
Bottom line- this "watch" should be a beta test watch, with willing participants. This "watch" should not be marketed. I did test this "watch", I had it for over a month. I had no seizures, although it loved to go off whenever it could. At the end of my trial, empatica said that I had 9 seizures. Incorrect. If you're trying to get an epileptics hopes up, their families hopes up, that someone you care about will finally be safe...go ahead and purchase (you'll be letting people down, remember). If you actually want to be safe, know that this is a scam.
Coming from someone with epilepsy.
Scam
Found a teddy online said for my special need son said it would show on bank as seasour.com looked at bank the next day and i had 2 transaction for the same amout but from 2 different companies but had the same password for account contacted bynowsmart.com and was told to cancel membership witch i did. Fastforward 3 days and ive been charged a further £24.99 for a member ship. Contacted seasour.com to be told that they are not conected to any other company. Sent a few screen shots of email to now be told that they aren't really part of bynowsmart.com witch mean they are conected in some way. Just watch out im £30 out of pocket for nothing website doesnt even tell you you are signing up for a trial. Im on day 3 of a 3 day trial and they have taken the next months out already
Absolute rubbish
Bought this for my 6 year old granddaughter. She’s had it for a week and we have had numerous false alarms and 2 night time ‘interruptions’
E-mailed Epilepsy alarms, the company we bought if from at 9am on 10th October and they haven’t even had the courtesy to respond.
Highly recommend Embrace 2 an excellent…
Highly recommend Embrace 2 an excellent monitor.
Embrace consistently responds promptly whenever I require assistance. They genuinely care about addressing my concerns and provide exceptional support, even long after the purchase, demonstrating their commitment to their product.
This watch saved my son's life
My 24 year-old son is on the 2.0 version now. We bought the first and upgraded after 4 years. It is well worth the money. It has saved him several times by alerting us to the seizure and we were able to get to him before he hurt himself.
He had one particular tonic-clonic seizure where he was in a weird state and was trying to leave the house. Because of the two-types of notification, all 3 of his caregivers on the list were able to get home to assist his safety and stability. We are genuinely grateful for this watch.
(It isn't without the odd flaw or hiccup but we weigh the benefits over the hiccups)
I would not recommend this device
I would not recommend this device. I purchased this after my daughter had her first seizure ever and was diagnosed with epilepsy. When we tried using it EVERY seizure alert we received was false. Never once was it a real seizure. The times to reach someone for customer service is a joke. They are very minimal times even if you live on the east coast. If you live in any other time zone in the country it is even worse. Any time I try to call I get a voicemail. All I want to do at this point is cancel my subscription and that is apparently not something you can just do on your own. I now have to wait for someone to contact me on their time and I don't have much confidence. This device was recommended to me by a doctor that did not have any knowledge of the device herself. I did not realize she was so uneducated on it until I took my daughter in for her follow up and all she could tell me was to call customer service. It really had me thinking that with the way she pushed this device she may be working with the company. 0 stars if I could. Update: As of September 19, 2023 I still have not received a call back from a voicemail that I left or an email response from the company to cancel my subscription. They never answer the phone and just keep taking my money.
If I could give a 0 star review, I definitely would
If I could give a 0 star review, I absolutely would. I wish I could go back in time and not have spent the ridiculous amount of money as I did on this useless watch. Battery life is nowhere near what they advertise. Not even close! It is definitely false advertisement imo. I thought maybe my 1st watch was faulty. It was nice they replaced it but I had to spend $102 to send it back and unfortunately, the new 1 I was sent is exactly the same. It is pointless to wear if I’m not near a charger for more than a few hrs at a time. I will no longer pay monthly for a service I cannot use. They said the only way to fix the problem this time would be to buy a new 1. Seriously? You have got to be joking me! No thank you. I refuse to waste any more money that I do not have on a device that doesn’t work as advertised. It would be like throwing money in the trash. I wish I had looked at the reviews prior to purchasing this. I’ve never written 1 for anything before but I don’t want someone else to waste their money as I unfortunately have.
Waste of money, not fit for purpose. Scam??
Waste of money, not fit for purpose, going to claim back my money under section 75 consumer credit act. They give you 30 days trial but they don't tell you that starts from the day you receive device not the day you pair the device & register for 30day trial.Shocking customer support. I even go as far as say this is a Scam, which is disgusting as its being sold to vulnerable people who just want help with their Epilepsy monitoring
Just don't buy it.
Useless watch. Picks up moving about but doesn't actually pick up seizures. Battery lasts about 30 minutes. Charged it earlier fir about 4 hours, lasted me 20 minutes. It constantly discinetts. Never ever reconnects and when it does it takes about an hour for it to connect, you have to keep turning bluetooth on and off. Useless piece of machine wish I'd enver bought it rather have fits than depend in this sort of thi g. It's absolutely useless and the customer service is absolutely shocking. Also the prices for the so called plans are extortionate. £12. A month fir the lite version of the app. You can have only 1 care giver. Nothing else
Utter rip off, comoletley Useless
Great concept, poor execution!
I suffer from bitemporal lobe epilepsy, but I do not experience from tonic clonic seizures often. After missing one dose of medication and suffering a seizure, my husband and I got the Embrace2 for peace of mind.
Upon getting the watch in May 2021, false alerts were sent as it got used to my movements which was understandable. After over one year of having to remove the device while doing everyday tasks, such as washing dishes or brushing my teeth, to avoid scaring my emergency contacts with a false alert, I found myself not wearing the device more than I was.
It never once caught a petit mal seizure which I endure regularly.
In early August 2022, the watch stopped holding a charge. Although being in rest mode throughout the night or not having it on as to avoid false alerts, I was always receiving low battery warnings.
I contacted support and was told to charge the device for 8 full hours, wear it until it needed a charge and repeat.
I was charging daily, sometimes more than once per day and the device had even completely died in the night on several occasions.
When support followed up with me, I stated that the issue wasn’t resolved, asked for specifications and battery information and let them know I was thinking of cancelling my subscription.
The person I spoke with told me they didn’t do battery changes and because I was out of warranty I’d have to buy a new device on which they’d offer a 30% discount. Then, without hesitation let me know that if I chose to cancel, they understood and made me aware of the subscription refund I’d receive.
There was absolutely no fight for the device, which made it seem like this is a regular occurrence for Empatica. I chose to cancel my subscription and a refund was given on subscription.
Knowing that a company will cave so easily and not fight to keep a customer happy is not only sad but frustrating. Claiming to do advanced research, their product definitely doesn’t reflect that.
Glad to here nothing has changed sine I…
Glad to here nothing has changed sine I had one 3 years ago always sending false alerts but never caught my tonic clonics or my absences like it said it will and all this pleasure for an extra £25 a month always disconnected from the Bluetooth unless my arm was right next to the watch luckily enough I had a subscription via direct debit so cancelled that so they couldn't take any more money from me
