The White Hart Benfleet

Have visited The White Hart on many occasions as our son lives in Benfleet and always enjoyed our time there for meals and drinks. However, we booked for a meal with our grandchildren today and were very disappointed with the meal. My husband ordered the beef roast dinner. The beef was tough and stringy and he could not get a knife through the roast potato. The waitress asked him if he would like a sharper knife!!
My granddaughter ordered the chicken tenders with baked beans - the chicken came out on its own and we were then asked if we would all like to be served our meals together. Total shambles.
I spoke to the manager and he refunded our money. I felt quite upset that it came to this as we have always enjoyed visiting this pub.

Cold food. Poor service. Won’t go there again. Went to The Dog Inn on Friday 23rd May…

Went to The Dog Inn on Friday 23rd May 2026 at 6 o’clock. We were very disappointed in our experience. The meals were very poor and not as described and the scampi served to me was dreadfully over cooked. Service was poor. We waited for our meals but the wait for our desserts was ridiculous. We waited 20 minutes, I spoke to a server who said I’ll have a look for you and they came after a further 15 minutes only for the custard to be cold, completely cold, to be served with a hot pudding. When pointed out the pudding was taken away and microwaved. Very poor food, very poor service. Yesterday’s experience was not good. We use several Ember Inns in Birmingham and this was our poorest visit!! Very disappointing.

The Ridgeway Rip Off

The Ridgeway, Enfield.
Having booked on line my party of 5 arrived and we went to the bar to be shown to our seats, despite there being 3 members of staff, noone was interested in us and my husband found our table because the blackboard on it gad my name and time of booking. Having had no contact with the staff we ordered using the order at table option.
When the food arrived... oh how disappointed 4 of the group of 5 were... burnt, dry gammon, fried eggs that Having effect been hard boiled, garden peas that were grey, the smallest scampi ever seen, and stale bread and rock hard butter. The waiting staff took half our plates away at the end of the meal, then forgot about us my son took the remainder of our plates and cutlery to the bar and reminded them we had ordered puddings!! There were only 4 other customers in our section of the pub, so how we had been forgotten I shall never know.
We shall not be wasting our money in this pub again, and would struggle to use an Ember Inn after this expensive experience.

Paying customer fined £100

I was a customer of The Denton pub in Newcastle on 10 April, as I have been many times before. Sadly, that will be my last visit. I forgot to enter my car registration at the bar and have been fined £100 by a parasitic parking company, Euro Car Parks. Had I have not been a customer, fine. But when I paid to consume on your premises. There is no reasonable justification for such an excessive fine for a genuine oversight.

The Broadway Duffield road. Not as good as it used to be.

I was at the Broadway today and the food was not as described. Even the young gentleman who came to speak to my friend about his meal agreed when I mentioned that my potatoes were not as described on the menu.
I had to pop inside to see where our food was just as the chef was chatting behind the bar. The lead person went to find out and said that it was just being played up. 🤔
He was very nice but unfortunately since the previous owner Matt left it has gone downhill quite a bit.

My dirty pants after dinning here

A staff member accidentally poured sauce onto my trousers during my visit. Unfortunately, the situation wasn’t handled well and no proper help was offered. Disappointing experience.
Staff handling my incident was totally unprofessional.

Disappointed

I visit here often but today I was disappointed. We had 40% off voucher and chose here instead of Sizzling pubs who had a similar offer. We asked for 2 of their magnificent Miixed Grills but were told,"No mixed grills".No explanation. So we settled on 2 very basic Chicken Curries.Last visit they had run out of Haddock. Most times it is great.

Once a month meeting

We have a monthly old pals meeting at the Alleyns Head in Dulwich. Always looked after by Joyce who has been there for years.

Food is generally good but can vary a bit in quality. Pretty much what we would expect from a chain establishment that probably has a high turnover of kitchen staff.

Food and beer prices are excellent.

The lasagne was inedible

The lasagne was inedible. It looked awful, had a slimy greasy sauce, rubbery cheese and lacked meat. Two mouthfuls was one too many. The accompanying side salad and garlic bread were fine.

Tried to book table on Friday for…

Tried to book table on Friday for Sunday.
Website stated no worries if says booked as they keep some tables free for walk ins.
Arrived Sunday at 1 pm hoping as only just opened a hour ago could get at roast dinner.
But was told all booked so asked to have roast in bar section to be told only drinks as got 18 people coming in soon.
I'm also a regular to queen Elizabeth and given them good reviews as they to support local pubs but was very disappointed.
Some people would like to go for a roast if have no family.
So we went and gave our custom to the golf cafe at chingford plains and spent £56.00 there.
Also while was in bar for a drink at queen Elizabeth no 18 people turnt up.
So could have easily done four roast dinners.
They let locals and regulars down.

Had friends book table and they waited two hours for there dinner which was cold and missing stuffing and Yorkshire batters.
They booked at 5.30 never got dinner till 7.30

Lack of tables for walk ins.

We have recently visited the kings Fairway in Ashford , the staff as always were very good and courteous and service was good and food fine.
The only thing criticism is that as Wednesday evenings gets very busy due to curry night , all of the tables had reserved signs on them and consequently any walk ins couldn't find seats available , and we did witness customers turning around and leaving .
Surely the pub should have a certain amount of table reserved for walk ins , not reserve the whole lot . We did see that a lot of tables had reserve on them and were empty for the time we were there.
There wasn't any spare seats for anybody to sit and just have a drink.
We were lucky to find a table for 2 but had to take a seat from another table as there was only 1.
Our time of visit was 6pm until 7.30pm.
