A Self Serving Rip Off

Elmbridge Housing Department supplied a tenant for our property together with all documentation and inventory services.

The pre let inventory of what they stated was a lovely property was fairly comprehensive and did not highlight any damage.

When the tenant left, the property was filthy and the damage to the paintwork was so bad, even the washable paint was beyond washing.

The housing department official who did not even turn up with the check in inventory, and repeatedly stated he could not remember what the property was like, stated it was fair wear and tear. Our cleaner and everyone else who has seen how it was left have agreed it is negligent damage. The bathroom used to have white tile grout but due to lack of cleaning it was yellow. Limescale was copious.

Again being a dirty person who does not clean is not wear and tear it is negligence in household cleaning.

The council are the deposit guarantor and it’s very clear that the member of the housing team was down playing the damage to lower their outlay.

Left with a decorating issue, other damage and an unknown cleaning bill the individual capped the bill to what he thought was ok not what it eventually cost.

The checkout was a scrap of paper and no pictures, or any notes on our complaints of damage.

I am also particularly unimpressed that we were not informed that the individual had mental issues which made his tenancy difficult. The neighbours are mostly single women and felt uneasy around him.

He also had unauthorised pets which were unsuitable as one was a large Belgium Guard Dog known to need constant attention.

If you have a nice home and want it to stay in reasonable condition AVOID renting to Elmbridge Council Housing Department as its whole process is geared to their needs with no regard to providing a fair and diligent service.

There is no independent guarantee service so their self serving approach is wide open to their abuse.

AVOID THEM AS WE HAVE SINCE HEARD FROM SO MANY PEOPLE WHO GOT NO SUPPORT AFTER THE ORIGINAL BS SALES INFORMATION.
