Awful company, poor quality product.

Awful company, Avoid!

We purchased a brand new chainsaw from an authorised dealer. Unfortunately the chainsaw suffered from what the dealer admitted was a manufacturing defect. The dealer then directed us to Echo's own customer service team to arrange the replacement of the part.

It has taken upwards of 2 months of back and forth emails to Echo for them to arrange a courier to collect the saw, however none arrived.

We understand that manufacturing defects do occur however the way that this has been handled is unacceptable. It seems that the only way that we will receive a working chainsaw is through the small claims court, when spending upwards of £600 on a chainsaw this should not be the case.

Unhelpful company

I did some online research and decided I wanted to buy an Echo battery powered hedge trimmer. Most online stockists were out of stock, so I went to the Echo UK website, where the prices are displayed, but I couldn't work out how to buy the products. On the Google search and on their website it said that you could get a free additional battery when you bought a 40v kit, although they only displayed separate items on the website (some external websites had kits). I contacted Echo to ask whether they had the trimmer in stock and how to claim the additional battery, as there were no terms and conditions on their site.
The company that runs the site replied and said they don't sell to the public, and sent a link to a list of retailers. They did not explain the terms of the free battery promotion.
I replied again, asking for details of the promotion and they did not respond. Two weeks later the website had been amended and the offer removed.
This is very unprofessional and also probably in breach of consumer legislation. They advertised an incentive to buyers, which included no terms and conditions and therefore had no expiry date shown. As such they should have honoured it while it was still live on their website, but instead of doing so they ignored a potential customer and quietly deleted the advertised promotion.
I will buy a different brand instead, which is a shame as I have heard good things about Echo (petrol) tools.

Poor customer service

The Echo product (Chainsaw) I bought appears to be very good. Before purchase I contacted requesting information but I did not receive a reply. I took a chance and bought it. I have contacted Echo because the online registration does not recognise my serial numbers which are required for the warranty. They told me to send an email which I did. I have not received their confirmation. This means my product might not have the warranty they advertise. Their customer service is shocking. I will try to get the warranty sorted by contacting Japan direct.
**UPDATE 7 days further and an email reply stating looking into it. 22 days later and still nothing.
***UPDATE After 24 days I finally get an email "We have identified an issue with our on-line enquiry system". By now I had already contacted an Echo dealer (Groundcare Essentials) who responded instantly and had my product warrantied within minutes
