East Street opticians have much better…

East Street opticians have much better quality lenses that other big chains, comparing same price for quality, without a doubt.
Also, I have the unfortunare habit of sitting, stepping on to my glasses. Well, they make miricles restoring the lens to their orihinal shape! And for free.

Total waste of time & they failed to honour eye care voucher

My employer issued an eye care voucher to cover an eye test (if necessary) and either single VDU glasses from a limited selection or £25 off a different pair if I wanted something else.

I called East Street Eye Clinic earlier in the week and explained this. I was told I didn't need an appointment and to come by whenever.

I arrived today just after 2pm. The staff are clueless. I showed them the voucher and explained the circumstances and that I already had a valid prescription from another optician. I was told the only member of staff who could do eye tests had just left to pray and to come back in 40 minutes. Frustrating but OK...

I duly came back 40 minutes later after killing time & spoke with yet more confused & ill-informed members of staff. I was then told I didn't need an eye test (which I explained earlier but was told I did need one) and that despite being one of the listed opticians on the voucher website, they would only provide a £25 on glasses in-store.

So I wasted 2 hours for nothing. I will be complaining to the provider of the eye care voucher scheme as East Street Eye Clinic were clueless, wasted my time & failed to offer the service clearly set out under the terms of the voucher. If they can't provide the agreed service, they should be removed from the scheme.

And I'll be sticking to my normal optician for general appointments, contact lenses and glasses as I have no confidence the East Street Eye Clinic staff know what they're doing.
