Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 50 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many people were dissatisfied with recent product changes, noting a significant decline in quality and taste across various muesli lines. Customers frequently mentioned the removal of premium ingredients like dates and brazil nuts, replaced by cheaper fillers, resulting in bland or unappealing textures. This shift led many to feel the products no longer offered the superior fruit, nut, and cereal combinations they once valued, and some found customer service unhelpful. A common complaint was the reduction in product weight, often from 650g to 500g, while prices remained the same or increased, which many perceived as poor value for money. This 'shrinkflation' and the perceived cheapening of ingredients led numerous long-term customers to express their disappointment and seek alternative brands.

I ordered Muesli, not Decorative Oat Gravel

Well, we noticed.

We noticed the missing fruit.

We noticed the missing nuts.

We noticed that what was once a brilliant product now feels like someone has watered it down until it became a depressing bowl of beige disappointment.

I appreciate that businesses have costs and pressures, but please don’t insult your customers by pretending that making something cheaper to produce is the same thing as making it better.

It isn’t.

It’s just annoying.

Please bring back the proper muesli. Bring back the generous handfuls of fruit and nuts. Bring back the product that people actually loved, not this sad, watered-down impostor wearing the skin of the cereal we remember.

Whose idea was this ?

Used to love the Simply Fruity Muesli, box weight 630g, a high quality muesli worth paying a premium for, and tasty with plenty of Oats and Fruit.

For the 'new' replacement, they have kept the box looking the same size, but now containing only 500g, contents taste burnt, and leaves a bad taste. Complained to Customer Services and they say they changed the ingredients to suit customers tastes. Rubbish, they cheapened the ingredients, and reduced the box weight to price gouge customers.

New Recipes and cheaper ingredients, yet they reduce the box weight by 130g, but keep the box size the same ....... !

Bye, bye Dorset Cereals

I have enjoyed Dorset Simply Delicious…

I have enjoyed Dorset Simply Delicious cereal for many years and got through nearly 2 boxes a week, so to find out that this has been discontinued was a huge disappointment. I have given its replacement a reasonable chance to grow on me but sadly I do not like it at all. Whoever thought that the mix of ingredients they have used was a decent alternative needs to have a re-think. Just awful. Bye bye Dorset Cereals.

Sad demise of a once great cereal

The new cereal range is vastly inferior to the original range, and has a greatly reduced content of nuts and fruit. Gloriously Nutty is particularly awful and lacks taste and texture. The number of five star 'incentivised' reviews on some supermarket websites says it all! Having bought the original versions for many years I will not buy the new ones again.

Why Change?

Simply Nutty Muesli has been by breakfast staple for years and I would quite happily of paid a bit extra for what I viewed as a premium product. Instead they have ripped up the recipe, removed all the premium ingredients such as dates, brazil nuts, and sunflower seeds. Now it is just a bog standard muesil that I have zero interest in, such a shame.

Unfortunately their recipes have been…

Unfortunately their recipes have been enshittified. My family has been eating dorset cereals for decades in the UK and Canada. Recently they have changed their recipe, reducing the ingredients that people purchase the brand for, and completely removing others like brazil nuts. Don't bother buying this anymore, just make your own at home.

Bought for years, but not anymore

Bought for years and loyal customer. Not anymore, ceo heading for the door as this popular brand has been destroyed. Won’t be buying again, so sad. Disingenuous to drop 150g and keep box same size. Dorset cereals was of an ethical brand but you have shredded that prized image.
Comparing old with new box, recipe is higher in salt, sugars and fat and lower in protein and fibre. Lost another loyal customer, I will also flag this with Waitrose. Such a shame to disregard your customer and lose them!

Dorset Simply Delicious is no longer delicious!

I have eaten Dorset Simply Delicious - the Blue packet- almost every morning for many years. I even take it on holiday with me wherever I go!! I can’t believe they have changed the recipe and lowered the quality !! I would rather have paid more than eat this bland, poor quality substitute ! I am now searching for another brand. Any ideas please?
I wish I could give this cereal NO stars!

Simply Delicious Muesli .Not anymore

I've been a consumer of Simply Delicious Muesli for the last 10years , because it did what it said on the packet .We bought at least 3 boxes per week . The new recipe is awful , full of hard cheap toasted flakes , no dates, seeds or Brazil nuts , just tasteless cashews and sultanas . As if that wasn't bad enough you've reduced the box size from 650g to 500g and increased the price . Pure greed . Time to start shopping different brands , I won't be purchasing any Dorset Cereal products again .

Loyal customer feels deceived and will not buy again

I have been buying Dorset Cereals Simply Fruity Muesli for several years. Paired with kefir, with a few added seeds and nuts, it was a luxurious and relatively healthy start to the day.

Faced with a repackaged range, I trustingly imagined Fantastically Fruity would be the same or better. Had I memorised the contents, a few minutes in the store reading the new pack would have been enlightening.

The pack is the same size, but the contents have shrunk by 20%.

The colour coded warnings on the front have changed from 3 green and 1 orange to 2 green, 2 orange as saturated fat has doubled. Protein is down. Calories per serving are up. Who reformulates cereal in 2026 to be less healthy?

The muesli tastes worse than before. There are too many toasted (not malted?) wheat flakes at 28% that go soggy when soaked, and no barley flakes. I was sorry that coconut chips have been added as I originally changed to Dorset Cereals to avoid them.

I will not buy again now the brand has taken this giant step away from their customers. People looking to formulate something more to their taste might check out Wiltons Wholefoods.

Like other major brands Dorset Cereals…

Like other major brands Dorset Cereals have gone down the same road for profit rather than customer loyalty. Having bought a recent pack of Nutty Granola i cannot believe the change in taste. The old granola had a nutty taste and was full of nuts where as the newer ,smaller packet of Dorset Cereal has a taste of sawdust. Brands that treat their customers with contempt lose customers one by one. Dorset Little Nuts Granola Sawdust there goes another one lost.

I have always purchased Dorset cereals museli. It is now a poor shadow of it's former self. Brazil nuts replaced by cashews, bulk filling of apple pieces instead of raisins. I will not purchase your inferior product again

They’ve really screwed up here. Loved the fruity muesli but the new version is truly horrible. Far more nuts now, and it’s got lots of quite hard bits, and an overall unpleasant taste. I’m out…

Disgraceful

For many years I have bought Dorset Cereals Simply Delicious Muesli.
Now, I will never buy ANY Dorset Cereals product again, for all the reasons listed in the reviews below.
For a company to exercise such blatant greed and treat their customers with such complete and utter contempt beggars belief.

Very disappointing...

For years I've enjoyed Simply Delicious Muesli, when I could no longer find it on supermarket shelves I looked at all the new replacements which had appeared looking for the Simply Delicious one containing the same or very similar ingredients and bearing the suitable for vegans label. The nearest I could find is the Delicious Fruit and Nut muesli in which Dorset Cereals have taken out the sunflower seeds and brazil nuts and added apple slices. It tastes powdery and bland. It is also higher in sugar and salt than the Simply one. The suitable for vegans label is not on the list (suitable for vegetarians is).. why ? To cap it all, it's a higher price for less in the box. The Simply Delicious was perfect the way it was. So disappointing.

It's no longer Fantastic and it's not Fruity

It's no longer Fantastic, and it's not Fruity.

Fantastically Fruity was my go-to breakfast muesli. Now the recent recipe change has completely ruined it. I particularly dislike toasted wheat flakes, and it seems this cheap filler is at least a quarter of the new recipe. Sorry, Dorset, I now go elsewhere for my muesli.

This could go down as an example of how to destroy a brand. Bad, bad.

It’s not glorious and it’s not nutty.

I’ve bought Gloriously Nutty muesli for years. It’s now a completely different recipe.
Did you think no-one would notice if you kept the same name? No brazils, golden raisins, dates, dried apricots, pumpkins seeds. Bits of nuts instead of whole ones, and not many. Oat flakes and toasted wheat flakes that were previously near the bottom of the ingredient list now the top two ingredients. It’s now just average and tastes like crumbled up weetabix. I won’t be buying it again.

Another example of shrinkflation!

I agree with all the comments made by other reviewers. Now only 500g instead of 620g or 650g, I think, & at the same price. What a cheek! Some of the ingredients seem to have changed as well. I buy alternatives now. Someone always has to come along & re-invent the wheel. The profits these companies make is a disgrace
