The Fishermans Arms
This is a review for the Fishermans Arms at Docklow only, not the fishing complex.
I have now had the pleasure of dining here for breakfast, Sunday carvery and evening meal. I have been here now several times and have never been disappointed. From the meal itself through to the service, value for money and ambience I can only but praise the venue.
A special mention for breakfast with the locally supplied 'Leggs' sausages and bacon which I would rate the best in Herefordshire.
Well done to all concerned, keep up the good work and I will visit again soon.
Excellent venue rain or shine
Excellent venue rain or shine. The bailiffs/groundsmen do a fantastic job in keeping this mass of countryside beautiful for us all to enjoy they also chat and make us feel welcome.

This is our 3rd year and re booked already for next year , it’s a beautiful quiet adults only place, set in beautiful surroundings with Leominster only down the road , we have a lodge and just completely relax all week , my husband fishes and I can go for lovely walks but feel safe, lovely staff so helpful , if you want a carefree relaxing holiday this is your place ! My husband loves the daily fishing matches so it’s a win win for us both 💕
Sunday Lunch
Always busy on a Sunday as the Carvery is excellent ! Staff polite and attentive and the lady who oversees everything is truly remarkable!
Family run business with tackle shop
Family run business with tackle shop , restaurant, pub and accommodation on site. Becky and Simon are great in the tackle shop , always willing to help. The girls in the pub are polite and friendly and the food is great . They have stretches of river to fish as well as the pools if you become a member. Can t fault the place
Very Disappointed
Ordered Sausage and Mash which was nice but very small in size. Menu states 3 sausages but my friend and I only had 2 each.
Table booked for 13.00 and we arrived at exactly that time. Service very slow so didn’t receive our meals until 13.38. Waitress came to clear our plates at 14.07 and we informed us that there were no sweets available as the kitchen staff finished at 14.00. When I pointed out that it was not our fault that the service was slow the waitresses attitude was very dismissive and she suggested that we should be grateful that the staff had worked until 14.00 as they usually finished at 13.45 on a Monday. I am not sure how that was supposed to satisfy us as we were either still eating or sitting with empty plates during those extra 15 minutes. I might add that the booking stated that the table was reserved for 2 hours and there was no suggestion that we would only be served for 1 hour.
Suggestions:
1. Comply with the menu.
2. Improve staff training particularly with regard to attitude, speed of service and informing customers they cannot order anything after 14.00hrs.

Had a few day tickets in the past so decided to have a short break with 2 of my sons. We just had a room only stay but everything was as expected and all very good. Caught quite a few fish between us and the pub food was the best I have had in a long long time! . Lovely place to be and very quiet with good friendly fishermen all around.. Thank you

I have been going with a group of friends to Docklow for 12 years and always had a great time fishing, good restaurant value for money and excellent food .Nice and friendly staff .Fantastic fishing will be back in July. I would highly recommend Docklow fishery.
Another visit planned this year
We as a small group have stayed in Docklow pools, on a few occasions for a long weekend fishing , eating and of course drinking. This place is everything you need for a great fishing and eating experience. The lakes are fantastic and most of them you can drive up to, so it makes it so much easier to get your kit around. The staff are brilliant, they look after you so well and they make sure you are fed well and they keep your beer glasses full. We are booked again later in the year and we all cant wait. The fishing tackle shop is stocked full of everything you need. This place is a little bit of Heaven

Not geared up for wheelchair users.
It is a beautiful area with walks through woodland etc. They have laid loose stone on the pathways through which is great for walkers but nigh on impossible for those of us in wheelchairs and certainly for my power-chair which got stuck several times leaving my companions to drag me back. Negotiating some of the pathway drops meant I had to reverse down them as the incline angle meant the front caster wheels would veer off the path. But to be fair it made for an adventure!
However then it all went horribly wrong as we called into the pub for a light lunch. We were a party of 4 adults and 1 four year old granddaughter, the adults ordered theirs and asked for the children's menu....They don't have one!! So we ordered her a cheese sandwich which when it arrived was massive a grown adult would have struggled to eat it never mind a child. Now for the really bad bit, I needed to use the facilities .... But to get to them meant going down a step and then across a room. A very apologetic member of staff said they did have a ramp and when she showed me it I could see there was no way I could get my chair down and then up a 45 degree ramp that was no longer than 18 inches and wooden. In the end I decided I couldn't wait so would park my chair at the top of the stairs and my wife had to manhandle me across to the toilet. The toilet itself was raised to a reasonable height but that was about it, I would not have been able to access it even if the floor had been flat. I came out to find a staff member had moved my wheelchair!! My wife told her not to as I needed to get into it, her reply was they needed to get by. Strange because to get to that point I had come up a corridor leading to directly where my wheelchair was. My wife challenged this rather rude member of staff about disabled access to be told the disabled toilet was the one I had just been into???? No wheelchair access at all.
First stay at Docklow pools was June of…
First stay at Docklow pools was June of this year and it more than exceeded my expectations. The staff are absolutely amazing nothing is to much trouble every body is so friendly including guests we made new friends. The food from the restaurant is top notch. The tackle shop wow better stocked than my local AD . The accommodation is perfect for our needs. What can I say about the fishing each pool we fished was picturesque well stocked we caught well on every lake we fished. Having said all that when I got home I booked another week in August. Plus we are going to book for next year with more of our fishing friends. Can't wait.
A Fantastic Stay at Docklow Pools
We recently had the pleasure of staying at Docklow Pools again, and we continue to recommend it highly. The self-catering accommodation was, as always, comfortable, clean, and well-equipped, providing a perfect home away from home. For the occasions that we wanted to dine out, we had the extremely popular Fisherman's Arms to visit for immensely satisfying, well made and presented meals (always advisable to book first). The serene surroundings and beautiful lake views made for a truly relaxing experience.
The fishing at Docklow Pools is exceptional and productive, with lots of well-stocked lakes and pools, each with a good variety of fish, making it a paradise for anglers of all levels. The spacious on-site tackle shop (Docklow Tackle) is excellent and offers a wide range of high-quality accessories and bait. Simon and his team are incredibly helpful and always ready to offer advice and tips to enhance your fishing experience, whether you want to fish a match or just enjoy a quiet time pleasure fishing on your own.
A special mention must go to Jenna, who assists Jonathan in the office. She is very friendly and helpful. and her warm welcome on arrival and her continuing efficient service made our stay even more enjoyable. The entire staff at Docklow Pools go above and beyond to ensure guests have a memorable stay.
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with great fishing and top quality facilities, Docklow Pools is the place to be. I can’t wait to return!

Amazing stay at Docklow Pools
As with any other time that we have been to Docklow pools, the food was amazing, the staff and owners make you feel really welcome. What Mike and Josie have created over the years is a fantastic fishery and place to stay. We found the accommodation met all our needs and was very comfortable. I will attach some photos of our latest visit. Personally I would highly recommend Docklow and also thank everyone for an amazing time. I will be back at least twice next year, and I can't wait.

Have just had a 3 night stay in the newly refurbished Bluebell cottage. It is well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. Plenty of parking and a picnic bench outside overlooking the fields.
The fishing lakes were all fishing well, with several lakes to choose from. The tackle shop is fully stocked with knowledgeable, helpful friendly staff.
The Fishermans Arms is most definitely the place to eat, great menu choice and a specials board. The desserts simple divine. Would highly recommend! The carvery is the best around with 4 choices of meat and lots of different fresh vegetables. Would highly recommended you booked a table.
