Dreadful food
Dreadful food
This was our 2nd visit for food (Moreton Park) within past 4 weeks and will be our last!
£29.60 for 2 warm coffees, two cheese and red onion chutney toasties and a measly portion of fries. Our toasties looked lovely but the cheese on the inside was cold and not even melted. Three weeks ago we both ordered fish and chips and unfortunately the batter was so hard I had to take my fish out of it just so I could eat it, the mushy peas were cold and the fries just warm. We regularly visit and also bring our 1 year old grandson with us to the soft play there. We have eaten there in the past and found it ok and we visit a few times a month for coffee and cake. I have a Dobbies card but shan’t be renewing when it’s due. It seems it’s struggling for staff judging by the tables cluttered with trays both in main eating area and the soft play area. They have priced themselves out of the market as far as our wallets are concerned.
We were silly not to have complained the other week and even more silly not complaining today. Lesson learned not going to eat there again, just the free drinks until my loyalty card runs out.
Very disappointed
Very disappointed, they cost themselves over £100 of business today as they do not do delivery now, although there web site says they do.
Investment in refurbishing restaurant sadly wasted
The restaurant counter was understaffed and unsupervised, many menu items turned out to be unavailable, and cutlery was missing to be eventually replaced with items covered in drip marks. However the worst part of the experience was the undertrained assistant who decided to take it out on the customer. Asked for a tuna item she said NO TUNA, then asked for another panini she said NO PANINIS, then finally NEED A TABLE NUMBER. It wasn't a loud environment, it was her very poor attitude.
The substitute food wasn't too long coming and was OK apart from the absence of forks.
Lovely coffee shop on the mezzanine
We come here because it's local to us and we enjoy the garden centre. One of the worst things was seeing the empty upper part of the store where Costa used to occupy it some years ago. A super mezzanine area.
The Dobbies coffee shop has now made use of this space, with the old Costa furniture and wow, what a difference. We like the restaurant, but this coffee shop is quieter and lovely and I'm so glad Dobbies has brought it back! Comfortable sofas from back in the day when shops encouraged people to stay and relax! Great garden centre and seems to be running a lot more smoothly now.

Unbelievable
Unbelievable
We went to Dobbies to get some plants and whilst there we saw a garden sofa set for £695in the sale so we decided to buy it. The assistant who served us was lovely and very helpful. She looked the sofa up on the computer but it was out of stock but we could have the one on display we said fine we'll take it but we'll need it to be delivered No sorry we don't deliver???? Apparently they only deliver direct from the company's warehouse?? So obviously we saud no thanks and left. So we don't have a sofa and Dobbies is £695 out of pocket. What company that sells large items don't deliver?? Don't go to Dobbies unless you have a van!! No wonder they're closing some of their stores with this attitude. I only gave 2 stars for the young lady who served us
The lovely coffee
My sister, her Granddaughter my daughter and myself meet here every Wednesday morning for a catch up and coffee, the coffee is perfect, the staff are really lovely and the place is really clean. The atmosphere is also amazing, and I think this is all down to the staff. We wouldn't go anywhere else for our coffee it's the best.
Had the Sunday dinner..not good
Had the Sunday dinner. They didn't have all meats and we had paid for the all meat one and didn't end up with mixed meats. Should have been told this instead at the till really. Then when the food came for the price of £17 it didn't have much on the plate or variation and it was so bland. The gravy was like water and had no flavour to it... definitely wasn't rich wine gravy. It made all of the food very dry and hard to swallow. I would have to say it was the worst blandest/dry Sunday dinner I have had. For the price too I expected something far better.
Poor service at the restaurant
We went to Dobbies for lunch.Thevquwue was about 12 people and it was very slow giving your orders. When our order came we only had one lot of sandwiches when I'd asked for 2 .I had to go back and the person on the till hadn't taken my order properly so I had to pay again for the second lot of sandwiches. When you pay by card you can't see what amount is on it.My husband had long finished and my order still hadn't come I was just about to give up when it arrived.Other people seeing what happened expressed dismay at the slow pace.Apparently it was new staff who should have been helped at such a busy time or allowed training when it was quieter. We won't be going again for food but the garden centre was However there were no signs to show where the tomato plants were and the lady who helped said that this was not good.
Friendly staff
A very friendly young man at the checkout and efficient staff in the Snack bar
Poor condition winter bedding
Looked for some winter bedding plants. Cyclamen were in a very poor condition and lots of the primroses were mouldy. I did not buy any.
