Surly garden section staff
Several members of staff in the garden section clearly resent the fact that dogs are permitted. They are particularly sullen and even surly at times. On Thursday while I was looking at tomato plants in the outside area of the garden centre my small dog lifted his leg and dribbled on a metal pillar. A female assistant noticed this and reprimanded me, accusing me of being inconsiderate and causing her to have to "clean up". If I had noticed in time I would have pulled my dog away and in any event he only urinated a tiny amount in a section which was clearly outdoors. The staff in the main shop are wonderful ambassadors for Dobbies and my dog Cosmo is very popular with them, but I doubt I will be returning to the garden area because my shopping experience is spoilt by the staff there.
Staff member
I had a really lovely experience at the garden centre thanks to staff member Hamish. He approached me in such a friendly and genuine way, and was incredibly helpful from the start. He also recommended signing up for the Dobbies card, clearly explaining all the perks and benefits, which I really appreciated. It ended up being a great suggestion!
It’s not often you come across customer service this warm and attentive. Hamish is a real credit to the team, and he definitely made my visit much more enjoyable
Rude General Manager
I visit Dobbies Dunfermline regularly.
I also use the centre to collect and return parcels. I collected a parcel on 21st December and informed the lady at customer service that my second parcel needed to be returned as not required. John Lewis had given instructions not to collect it.
After 2 phone calls to John Lewis,
2 phone calls to Dobbies Dunfermline and a visit to Dobbies, my parcel hadn’t been returned as requested!
It should have been returned on 22nd December.
Yes it’s been a Christmas holiday but even so it’s now 12/13 days !!
Yesterday phoned Dobbies again and was rudely told I had to collect it before it could be returned.Turned out I was speaking to the General Manager. If she’s rude to customers there’s no hope.
First excuse was that they’d been busy. I’d been in the day before and it was very quiet.
Even John Lewis confirmed Dobbies should have returned the parcel after not being collected when 7 days was up. General Manager just kept speaking loudly over me.
John Lewis have even spoke to her but the only thing she’s done since is put it through that I’ve collected my parcel!
I’ve not collected it and it’s not been returned.
Disgusting and needs freshening up
Visited the Dunfermline store today with a friend and to say i was disgusted is an understatement!!
Bearing in mind the shop opened at 9am it was only 9.45am when i arrived at the self service section of the restaurant and there was a few tables and chairs that were covered in crumbs so they'd either been left from the day before or there had been some mucky pups already in and left and the area still not cleaned right.
The state of the material seats as well we walked about until we found a couple of seats that were half decent enough i was happy to sit my bum on. I for one will not be rushing back to this particular store for the prices charged i do expect a cleaner nicer seating area not feel like i'm in a greasy spoon.
Excellent service in Dunfermline store
Excellent service in your Dunfermline store. Staff were friendly, available and very helpful. I wanted to buy a table and chairs that were no longer showing on the website but Debbie got a colleague who was able to order it for us seamlessly.
Staff in cafe were very efficient and friendly too.
Disappointed
A lovely garden centre and nice atmosphere, however the Coronation Chicken sandwich we bought seemed devoid of chicken and the egg mayonnaise was utterly tasteless. Maybe the buyer should have a word in their supplier's ear to up their game or be replaced.

Shame the cafe counter in soft play is no longer open . Can’t leave children to play alone in soft play while getting a coffee in main area. An hour isn’t long enough to take kids out to get coffee .

2 for 1 cream scones £4 Available between 2pm and 4pm. At 3 pm only one scone left. Price £4. Maybe you should sell your one scone for £2? Or am I being unreasonable?
Dobbies Dunfermline absolutely shocking…
Dobbies Dunfermline absolutely shocking restaurant coffee shop. Never experienced such slow service.
Poor coffee and scones and overpriced.
We call into Dobbies fairly regulary hoping that one day the coffee will have improved but surprisingly the so called cappuchino is still a cup of hot milk tainted with a slight taste of coffee. The staff need to be trained how to make a decent coffee. As for the scones, they are rubbish, you cannot spread butter on them without crumbling . They even have the cheek to up the price to £2.90.
Dobbies , start serving good value products. It doesn’t seem to matter how many times you complain, nothing changes !!!
As for the queues, perhaps they should be giving us a discount for waiting so long in the queue !
Friendly, helpful customer service
The customer service assistant, Lynsey, was so helpful, I need to comment on how special it made my shopping experience. Lynsey accompanied me to pick out some plants and carried them to the checkout for me, as this was difficult for me due to mobility issues. She also replaced a plant, free of charge, which had died the previous week. Then she insisted on carrying my purchases out to the car. This is customer service at its very best. Thanks Lynsey from Norma Watson
Bad service Dobbies
We recently became members of Dunfermline Dobbies and been three times for our free coffees. The Coffees are not great but worse is the very slow service. Two young guys were chatting to each other and weren’t very helpful. We waiting 15/20 mins for a coffee. The seats were very grubby and tables not cleaned very often. We are not going to renew our membership

Cashiers really friendly and helpful
Improvement needed
Coffee lukewarm sliw service tables covered with dirty dishes. Staff all very young trying their best I think friendly but painfully slow service better training I think.
I would like to recommend Michael as… most.helpful and very knowledgeable
I would like to recommend Michael as being very helpful without being pushy. Nothing was too much trouble for him,he showed a selection of pumps in my price range and even looked to see if it was possible to price match the item which it was, which saved me a good few pound…Will shop there again
Happy to see 50% off
Happy to find the planters I’ve been admiring on offer with 50% off - so I bought 3!
The member of staff I asked a question of was very helpful & offered to get me a trolley. Very kind of him.
