Although Discogs is an excellent website for cataloging your records and CDs, it links with PayPal which keeps your money for up to 21 days. Honestly I think Id just rather put my media up for sale on eBay or lok for some other site. PayPal is a ripoff.

Hi Kristne, we're sorry to hear that your purchase never arrived!

Have you followed the steps listed in this document? https://support.discogs.com/hc/en-us/articles/360007509793-I-Haven-t-Received-My-Order-Yet-What-Should-I-Do

Essentially, you should first contact your seller to let them know. If they don't cooperate in helping you, you should go to your payment provider to see what sort of protection they can offer you in this instance. We do recommend that buyers always select shipping options that offer tracking and insurance, as it's the best way to ensure you will always be protected.

Overdue an update

Discogs is the best music cataloguing website. But it's also quite dated, has a lot of duplicate records and doesn't provide any dynamic reporting features.

It's the best place to buy records, but is a bit clunky when doing so.

I tried to open a newby account to buy stuff, registration didn't accept the most respected email address by Protonmail, in this case @proton.me. Telling it's incorrect and high risk address. What the heck. The site is a mess.
They are running their Amok.
Killing sellers, buyers, contributors and newcomers and they smile happily. No customer service! No public communication! How sad, anyways happy landing, it's gonna be rough...

I have been unable to sign in to my account since Thursday. I keep getting a message that the login failed, and I need to set a new password. I do that, then the login fails again and I get the same message. Meanwhile, I continue to get emails from Discogs regarding sales. I can't access my account to confirm I have mailed the record.
I'm using the latest edition of my browser. Filed a report with Customer support at that time, then again yesterday. It's the third day, and still no response. This is unacceptable.

Discogs is nearly impossible to use

Discogs is nearly impossible to use. Yes you can buy stuff, but there appears to be no way to contact a seller except by leaving feedback. Then you're expected to delete your feedback, and there's no way to do that either. Amazon Music is sheer inoperative hell so Discogs is at least a little better than that.

Discogs

Discogs has gone from great (pre-Brexit) to very expensive (double VAT on imports from Europe) and now, post 'improvements', it is almost unusable.
It is painfully slow, crashes regularly and, to be honest, it is time for someone to develop a competitor.
Such a shame

Discogs is charging people VAT and the customs too so paying twice (almost as much as the record cost).
They have a form to get this back but they just don't respond. Can't get in contact with them. Poor costumer service and feels like being ripped off.

Satisfied regular user

I have been a buyer on Discogs for over four years. I have always found it easy to use and have been satisfied with the results. It has enabled me to find rare releases which I never would have located otherwise. My experiences with sellers so far have been overwhelmingly positive, with over 400 transactions.

Great to buy records. Awful website and for notifications

Although buying records on website is normally positive. The actual website and customer service is awful. They don't notify you when records in your wantlist is available, which is very frustrating.
Discogs have replied to this review in their usual way saying we can fix this. But they never do

Discogs in common with many American site seems to favour the buyer over the seller. i have sold on this site for a number of years and often it is ok whilst the sale is clean and simple. Any issues their customer service seem to bury their head in the sand. The example I am most appalled with resulting in the buyer leaving negative feedback for me and i did the same for him [ he never returned the item]. His feedback was expunged but mine I had to provide loads of evidence before mine was removed [ but not expunged]. i complained about this but i was told that their decision was final. Typical. Also Discogs, your grading system is far too generous. I have bought stuff that was graded as vg+/ near mint but it was not even close. I never buy from this site anymore and now don't list new stuff.

Great website with massive amounts of information and options-especially helpful for newer collectors to learn the ins and outs of collecting vinyl!

Aside from the rare experience where the seller took forever shipping or won't respond via messaging, I have only had great experiences on this site. I have been collecting records for about 3 years now, and used Discogs from the beginning. For new collectors just getting into vinyl: Admittedly there is a learning curve; what pressing to get, which seller to go with, what the different gradings really mean and how to search this website's massive database to find the best version of an album and the true best pricing...etc. But after all the experiences I've had I appreciate the attention to detail this site offers and the effort made to ensure accuracy and standards of quality are upheld. There is also great support in place for buyers to protect against shady sellers! This is a great site to learn the ins and outs of finding and collecting rare and great records-and sometimes the search for the right pressing or the right pricing can be outright fun!

Unbelievably bad

Unbelievably bad. the selling fees are almost the same as ebay now yet the service and site functionality get worse and worse. for 2 weeks now the site often times out whilst listing items taking up so much of my time.
now I can't refund a buyer and i have no idea why. i have enough funds in my Paypal account so why not? a support request will take 1-2 weeks to be answered so i hear - is that fair to keep my buyer waiting this long?? and today. site totally down! can't even access my orders to ship items out !!! where are all these extra fees going Discogs ???

Discogs has been a positive for me.

I have purchased items through Discogs 17 times over the past twelve months. I had issues with only one seller. Discogs shuts down any sellers account, if that seller does not respond to a message/concern within four business days. All sellers are rated by the buyers. Avoid poorly rated sellers and you should have no problem. Discogs is no riskier than any other online marketplace. The internet is full to the brim with toxic individuals. This is not unique to Discogs. My informed opinion is that these one star reviews are the result of people grinding their axes, as people have a want to do.

toxic editors with excessive self-awareness

Editors who act like lawmakers on this site should be warned. I have seen numerous cases that editors on the site bluntly forced artists to unwilling changes and threatened other new users, in the name of documenting the music correctly.
what the hell is that? If you want to do something in your spare time, avoid Discogs unless you want to be in another toxic "working" environment. Discogs has given those moderators too much power to decide whatever they want. A music catalogue site with extreme "totalitarianism"

A "Safe Space" for Aging Incels

A sociopathic individual stole my music and made up a fake label, all compliments of Discogs. If the "community" likes what you post, you can continue the con. Even better, steal music from dead artists and "license" it out as your own. Or, obtain an old tape of a child singing and license it out as your own, distribute it via a music distribution service, and then post it to Discogs to gloat about your handiwork. This all happened.

I was relentlessly libeled and slandered by the "community" for trying to remove false, copyrighted, exploitative, and private information about me. The sick scenario did not get resolved until I reached a high-level executive through another channel.

From what I experienced on the Discogs "forums," the "community" is largely made up of a bunch of aging incels. Of course this doesn't describe everyone there but there are enough knuckle-draggers on the site that it taints the experience for everyone, especially for adults with a moral compass.
