I couldn’t make my departure at Rødby
I couldn’t make my departure at Rødby, and wanted to change my departure time. Very hard to get anyone to respond, and when that happened, Direct Ferries charged 97 euro’s. If I had booked directly with Scanlines, I could just show up and sail without any extra charges if there’s space available on the ferry. NEVER USE DIRECT FERRIES but buy directly with the boat company.

Terrible costumer service.
Been trying to edit a booking for two weeks. Multiple times failed and costumer service is terrible.
My advice, find the actual ferry operator an book directly and even save on the price.
Edit to the responde: Yes we made it on board. But it took two weeks of annoyance during a holiday with you guys without a solution. Shouldn't have been that hard to make the edit.

Scamming to make money, vague responses
Despite of searching for a journey from Harwich to Hook van Holland, one of the popped op results apparently was the other way around.
All day (over 24 hours in advance) we've sent several messages in order to amend the booking - which wasn't possible online. Every single time, we got a vague answer with no indication of the price we had to pay extra instead of booking new tickets additional to the tickets we didn't need.
This organisation is a scam, just book with Stena Line itself
Also: if you think it's cheaper than booking directly at Stena or other sites: be aware of the booking fee only visible at payment. There's no gain at all.

Book online = Safe Time to get on board

We recently traveled with Direct Ferries for the first time from Puttgarden to Rødby Havn and back. Overall, the experience was decent, but there are a few points worth noting for future "first time travelers".
Outbound journey (Puttgarden → Rødby):
We purchased our ticket on-site, which resulted in about an hour of waiting before boarding, online bookings get priority. We were surprised to wait so long while others who arrived 45 min later boarded immediately. If you're planning to take this route, I recommend booking in advance to save time.
Return journey (Rødby → Puttgarden):
For the return trip, we bought our ticket online. Unfortunately, the check-in process at Rødby Havn was quite confusing. Signage was unclear, and it wasn’t obvious where to queue or how to check in. At one point, we had to reverse out of a lane, causing some frustration for the drivers behind us.
Thankfully, a kind lady over the intercom guided us through the process. If you don’t receive a QR code with your booking (as we didn’t), you can select “manual input” on the kiosk screen and enter the booking code starting with “S.” Do note that the touchscreen was very unresponsive in damp/rainy weather, which added some stress.
Check-in process: 3/5
The check-in experience could be greatly improved with better signage and a more intuitive kiosk system. There’s a lot they could learn from the toll roads in France when it comes to user-friendly automation.
Logistics and ferry service: 5/5
Once onboard, everything ran smoothly. The ferry was on time and well-organized. The logistics behind the actual ferry operation are excellent.
Overall, the journey was fine, but there is definitely room for improvement in the check-in process at Rødby Havn and visa versa.

Direct Ferries shows the available ferries from a specific port, but also the alternatives from ports nearby. Most useful to have all options in a single view.
I made the payment for the booking
I paid for flexible ticket with car. But after booking there my car is not included it and they are asking £114 to add it. They are cheating. When I cancelled it they took money. The worst thing there is not human assistance available. I suggest don’t book here.

I booked the wrong date and route. Direct Ferries claims that only the ferry company can make changes, while the ferry company says they can't because we didn't book directly with them. I don't see the point of using Direct Ferries if they can't do anything for you except take your money. Definitely not recommended.

July 2025 —Total scam
July 2025 —Total scam. Booked ahead by 60 days. Arrived at outbound ferry to Porto santo from Madeira (with them already cancelling our inbound return trip two days earlier and us then scrambling to buy a flight from Porto santo back to Funchal ). Then we arrive to board the Funchal ferry to find out they had cancelled both. Even though they emailed us and said we were still okay on the outbound. Ruined our trip and we are out over 500 dollars because the ferry was sold out. And nowhere booked to stay on Madeira. NEVER TRUST THIS COMPANY. Book direct. They did ultimately refund our ferry tickets but we lost a lot of money on Porto santo flights and hotels not to mention the stress of traveling to Madeira, getting up early, being excited to see Porto Santo and being completely disappointed and lied to by Direct Ferries. Total scam. Run from this company. Never again.

System error played twice
I booked a ferry ticket, the system gave a payment error. As a result, I tried and booked again. When I saw the next day that they booked it twice, no responsibility of efforts for reimbursement were taken after repeated request despite this being an error of their system and a relatively big amount of money.
