No update since +2 days regarding a ferry to book within 3days. I write them many times but no clear feedback and no help.

No phone, no email whatsoever! You are on your own when things go wrong

The biggest mistake I made was booking through Direct Ferries instead of going direct!
It's just a company who is there to collect money and take a cut with no services provided whatsoever! no phone contact, no email contact, no one to talk to. All you get is a Virtual Assistant and if you can't resolve an issue, you are left stranded! fee for no service...absolute disgrace!!!

Scammed to a degree

I’m absolutely gob smacked how this company operates and feel I was scammed to a degree. I booked a ferry from Santander Spain to Portsmouth filling in all my details and vehicle type.. size.. when I received the booking confirmation I’d scanned through my booking to make sure everything was right and noticed that it said vehicle details not required.. so I contacted the help desk minutes after the booking to make sure everything was confirmed.. I was connected to a robot which had to reach out to operator to confirm booking details and was asked to re type vehicle details. At this position I could still see cancel my booking option on the page which I contacted help desk. I was then told by a robot that I’d have to wait for operator to confirm and someone will get back to me soon as possible. Less then 24 hours later I reached out again and was told there was no space on vessel for my vehicle size and next availability was over 2 weeks later.. may have extra fee. I couldn’t see the option to cancel on the page anymore. I kindly requested a refund where I was told it was not possible. I stressed my situation and asked company to sympathise with me as I had little money to get me back to uk and was going to have to drive through Spain and France to get home.. company reached out saying couldn’t change decision and asked how I’d like to proceed.. not wanting to loose my payment and seeing a option on the booking page for voucher code. I asked for a voucher or credit note to use at a later date. I was told the company don’t do vouchers or credit note.. and asking again how I’d like to proceed. Frustrated and stressed I asked what other options I had for the company to ask for the second time how I’d like for them to proceed.. I managed to drive all Spain all France with toll charges and fuel costing more then ferry ticket but still had to cross from Calais to dover by ferry tried to contact the company to see if they would be able to assist no reply and had to book again with same company and pay more money.. ☹️

Trying to cancel a trip to Spain due to health reasons

Trying to cancel a trip to Spain due to health reasons was relentlessly made awkward, tedious and irritating.
Although there is a choice to do so on the website, it didn’t work. Each time having answered repetitive questions and selecting confirm, I was back at the beginning.
Online chat was the next option which was similarly configured.
Then onto emails with the same story, albeit thankfully shorter.
Considering I paid over £100 for the right to cancel added insult to injury.
I cancelled accommodation I’d booked for the trip on a well known booking site in 10 seconds.
I will never use this company again.

Booked with them multiple times. Their website switched my bookings. No customer service , charged me 100 pounds nearly to correct their website booking error

Direct Ferries is the most worthless…

Direct Ferries is the most worthless company I have ever bought a ticket from. Firstly, it’s completely unnecessary. Please, book directly with the ferry service instead of through them. They are not reachable by phone. On weekends, they are unreachable in general. Truly shameless, their shortest e-mail response time was 48 hours. I have filed multiple complaints. Before a solution was found, they kept closing the case each time, even though there was no solution at all. This happened four times. It’s really annoying because before you can send a complaint you first have to add a shitload of information (probably to make sure not a lot of people take the effort to do so) so it’s very time and energy consuming.

I changed the departure date of my return trip through their email-website system. The website showed a confirmation that it had been changed. I even thought, oh, that was easy. Great. Well, that was a huge illusion. I didn’t check my email afterward because I just assumed it was updated, as indicated on the website. But it turns out they didn’t process the change, and now they’re denying I made any changes, even though you can clearly see in the backend of the website that it was updated and what happened. So it’s all just nonsense. If this wasn’t visible in the backend of the website: develop a better website which works.

The fact that they closed the case four times before finding a solution tells me they just wanted to get rid of it quickly. Their customer service is impossible, and now they’re denying it, so I’ll have to pay for my ticket twice. What a terrible company. Please, never book anything here. Just book through Stena Line or another service.

Direct Ferries is a money-grabbing company with horrendously poor (completely absent) customer service.

Don’t book here!!!!

PS. Although they say it’s free to change your ticket if you have a flexibele ticket or whatever they call it (you pay extra for this) they still charge you extra money when you change it! This is what they told me when they were “solving” my problem. Another RIPOFF.

The last minute ticket which I had to buy a few hours before the trip was even cheaper than the tickets they sell half a year in advance. DON’T BUY HERE.

Het is ook goed om te weten dat de prijzen kunnen dalen en we streven ernaar om u het laagst mogelijke tarief te bieden.

Met betrekking tot het flexy ticket raden we je aan om onze FAQ-sectie te bekijken, waar staat dat je met het flexy ticket kunt afzien van wijzigingskosten; je moet echter nog steeds de aangepaste prijs van de boeking betalen na de wijziging. Deze informatie wordt duidelijk uiteengezet in onze Algemene Voorwaarden, die je direct in je boekingsbevestiging kunt openen.

Absolutely horrendous

Absolutely horrendous, booked from uk to France , no contact in the UK changed return date 1 week in advance tried to charge me extra £25 plus cancel my cabin so £75 . When l paid the flexi ticket after 6 emails they
Said they changed if free and left on my return to the port with no return lovely people at French ferries sorted it out .

We do not have any record of a cabin cancellation request.

I would like to inform you that if fees have been applied, it is because the flexible ticket option waives the amendment fees; however, you would still be required to pay the difference in ticket price if there is a change that affects the ticket cost.

Terrible company

Terrible company. You order a ferry from phi phi island in Thailand to Phuket, and on the booking email it informs you that you need to print out the ticket, when you’re on holiday!! Gate at the pier try to charge you again because they won’t print out a ticket. I was told by their customer services that it’s all listed in their terms and conditions for both them and the ferry - we’re in 2024, save paper and add the tickets to your app directferries! Shockingly bad company. Avoid at all costs.
