Horrible to be a derwent living tenant
I am honestly so happy i am moving out of a derwent living property. I live in stoke on Trent and am well aware that they only own a few properties in this area. But it they never hardly come out to anyone here, if we have repairs they are slow to get them done, aload of rubbish was dumped in my garden and they said that someone would take it when they was in the area. But it never got taken because obviously there wasn’t going to be anyone in the area when they are set up in derby, so it got left and i had to pay for it all to be taken away.
There was also an issue with rats with one of there renants who was next door to me, because there was dirty and wouldn’t ever clean and derwent said it wasn’t there problem and just left it. Luckily them tenants moved out but Derwent yet again did nothing about it
I am also in the middle of an exchange and they haven’t done anything to make the process go quick, they have said they haven’t received the safety certificates even though they gas and electrician told me that they send them by email and they would be received straight away, and now my housing officer is refusing to talk to me, the tenants I’m swapping with or the housing officer at the council. And he spoke to the other tenant last week through the secretary because he didn’t want to bother doing it himself. It’s an apsolute joke, and they should have houses somewhere if there not gunna be there to sort it out. I cant wait to get out of this house purely because derwent living are apsoluty horrific landlords and cant seem to do there jobs.

Poor quality doors and windows.
The only thing i am really disappointment with is all doors leading to the outside are old and single glazed. They need updating to the 21st century. Windows are poor and the is lots of heat lose.

Im Disabled and Derwent Living are causing me so much stress and Anxiety through no fault of my own !!
Im Disabled and live in one of Derwents new Bungalows in Bolsover i signed my agreement in my old home .The first winter i noticed that some of the 6ft fencing which surrounds all my bungalow was moving with the wind i gave complaint letters to two of the Housing Managers that were still coming round telling them of the posts fitted had no concrete but Derwent denied stating they had not received any letters i had signed the lease agreement in my old home but they state im responsible for maintaining fencing which is unfair to have to comply to when they have not been put up properly,I have complained and complained and still they refuse.Ive been here 6 years now all the fencing is coming down and other neighbours either side of me refuse to do anything about it has one neighbour who was there when they were first erecting the fencing phoned them up several times and complained about them not putting concrete in posts and not taking any care in putting fencing up but Derwent told him that there were no records so hes had enough and said hes not touching the fence the other side has said he doesnt care if all the fencing comes down and all i get off Derwent is one you should have treated your fencing which i did but the other two neighbours havnt so fencing is only done on my sides which cost me hundreds of pounds and that its my problem not theres. Because the posts havnt been put in properly the posts have rotton so all the lot is coming down and if it does it will smash my old doggie grave with her ashes in The Stress this is causing me is effecting my heart and having to be rushed into Hospital because my heart cant take it i cannot afford to put all this fencing right and Derwent dont give a dam when you ring them they dont want to know even when originally they caused the problem my bungalow wasnt even built when all the fencing was put up has mine was built last so why should i be responsable ive also found out that they have done work on others fences but wont admit to it .It was the same with the slabs they put down they begun to move making me fall constantly and i complained the first year but they did the same and refused to admit they had received complaints this went on for years and the slabs got worse untill one day i had a serious fall and im suffering still 3 years later but luckly i found a letter saying they had receiwed the complaint in 2014 then they suddenly retracted from saying i had not complained but had to wait to have them done the following year has they said they didnt have the money has each bungalow is only allocated £1400 repairs i am at moment sueing them which could go to the courts it just shows what liars they are saying they havnt received complaints .Im a TENNANT not a owner I have spent too much already now my fencing is marked and want s painting again because of all the wood i have stuck in my lawn up against the fencing to try and stop it from coming down im fearing this winter has if im outside putting washing out next to the fence and the wind blows the 6ft panel on top of me whos fault is it then MINE?? and no fencing up would leave me without privacy and me being unsafe ???

The only reason why I don't give this a…
The only reason why I don't give this a 2 or 1 star is I'm going to hope the Derwent colleagues' behaviour was all down to their being new to the job, and feeling out of their depth. They couldn't hide their initial reaction to me not being 70yrs+, then made obvious attempts to get the measure of me by slagging off a part of my country, when this failed to get a reaction, they tried for nice cop and complimented another aspect of it. Still failing to pigeon hole me, went for seeking my sympathy for theirs' and their childs personal medical struggles. Wanted me to explain my medical "story" - of which, time being sparse, I could only explain a small percentage of. This was met with "Well, you better not put any weight on then!". This employee was the second that complained about the distance they had to travel from to do a viewing. The derwent colleague had been given incorrect information regards utility supplier, or meter location. When I had obtained contact with the utility supplier, and was in mid-dialogue, the derwent colleague, who by now had worn me out completely with ad hoc questioning that ought to have been addressed at the pre-view assessment stage, stood hovering over and into me, repeatedly tapping and under-lining a subject that required answers to on a piece of paper, they could see I was engaged in listening to what the person on the phone was saying. Once the Derwent colleague was acknowledged with a stern "Yes", then I got the personal space back, and peace. I was thoroughly exhausted mentally and physically, but this was all to the good of the derwent colleague who now had gained a sense of empowerment and purpose at my expense, giving instructions that were out of sinc with the automated instructions on the phone. The only benefit to my head being put in the same spin thay theirs' was, came to organising a tighter time slot for the boiler to be switched on.
No notice whatsoever that this was required, or that the property had a credit meter installed. the colleague obviously had no knowledge or background given to them as to my medical situation, or reasons for having to move. "So you don't like Norwich then!" What? I bloody love Norwich, don't want ot leave, but have to. The colleague tried to get on a "personal" level with me, but it all was projection of their feelings. The sarcastic comment of "did I need to sit down" didn't go amiss. Like alot of ex-service personel - we make what is an awful lot, look very easy. And as a result of not putting on a performance worthy of the RSC, then we're deemed to be exagerating when putting our info on paper. And when departing, the colleague gave me huge - only it wasn't they who were giving me the hug, it was they who were seeking and needing one.
I actually asked my current landord to hold off taking my notice, and had very seriously considered giving my notice to Derwent instead (despite having signed the agreement, and paid 2 mths rent) - but with an unknown PIP outcome all I can do is move in, pay off the house move loan, save back up, and move away - there is no way can I stand the idea of being subjected to the 2 hr brain numbing debacle come and visit me in 6mths time, accompanied with their expectations and ideals as to how the property should look by then, and the easily predictive pass remarkable comments of literature on the bookshelves, or other items. The house really ought to have been painted, and no offer of vouchers towards it's improvements were offered. As for the comment "You've really landed on your feet here" they had no idea what I had to leave, nor the reasons for having to do so - just another kick in the gut I didn't need. They obviously went and passed on their belief that there was little medically wrong, as another sarcastic jibe was received later on the phone from another department. Why ask, and be provided with medical history and updates by the applicant, with medical clinicians details when all that follows is that yous look upon a person like judging-a -book-by-it's-cover. This most basic level of support and understanding was cast aside even before I signed the paperwork - thanks, I'll not be stopping for longer than necessary.
