Beamish and Durham
Unfortunately my son and I had a horrible experience with the coach driver on this tour and it's a shame because the actual coach, hotel and sites were very good. The driver Mark was obnoxious and very unprofessional. Firstly he parked illegally to pick us up and blocked a very busy road, causing other drivers to get out of their vehicles and scream at him. Whenever things didn't go his way he kept saying "That's why I don't live in England" and he kept referring to 'The Chinese' both of which I found offensive.
But the next day the driver told me to "come down to the bar so that I can buy you a drink" when I declined he said "I just want to treat you" so I said no thanks; he then went on to say "I tell you what when I come down to London next i'll treat you to a coffee" I should have guessed his intentions when he had scrutinised me intently that morning and said I looked 'pretty' and I told him nobody says those things anymore. To be honest I didn't take any notice of his advances at the time even though they made my son feel very uncomfortable as he said the driver was unprofessional and "keep's staring at you mum".
However then the driver got nasty on the last day when he added an impromptu stop on the tour, which I was happy doing, but when I asked if we were going to any other places and how long the drive back would be he started shouting at me. I explained that I wasn't complaining (several times) and that I just needed to know because I had tickets for an exhibition and if we were going anywhere else I would have asked everyone if we could go back. He shouted that I should have said in the morning if I didn't want to go (apparently half the coach voted for this but we weren't there). I sat down and HE GOT OUT OF HIS SEAT AND CAME OVER TO ME TO BAWL AGAIN. I tried to explain my point of view again and remained friendly and calm in my approach but he then shouted angrily "I'm not a mind reader you know" turned his back to me, tossed his arm up in the air and marched off. He then drove off so furiously that the lady in front of me hadn't had the chance to buckle up and went flying, so much so that the gentleman to the left of us had to jump out of his seat to save her.
The next day when loading to come home he started on me again, I reiterated that I hadn't been complaining and I had a right to ask a simple question in a polite way and he just kept saying "you should have told me in the morning" I said that I didn't know about it and I was happy to travel ad hoc up to that point but I needed to get back. He said "I'm not arguing with you" and I was astonished because in my mind it wasn't an argument.
My son later heard him complaining to other passengers behind our backs which bothered us both.
I can only surmise that he was angry I turned down his advances because his reaction to my simple question was extreme. Both myself and my son felt victimised and alienated by his unprofessional behaviour. I do not expect to be a victim of sexual harassment by the one person that was meant to be looking after us.

Just returned from a trip to…in
Just returned from a trip to Eastbourne.....hotel Glastonbury was excellent....not the most luxery hotel, but you get what you pay for....pleasant staff...bed was clean...food was good....thought we had no hot water but if you left the shower running for longer than you normally would you got hot water....but OH MY God the journey down to Eastbourne was horrendous!....first of all the driver got lost, we were late picking up several passengers....asked him on several occasions to turn off the air conditioning as on the day of travel it was only 18c....and it wasn't required!....we were FROZEN!....the journey took 9 hrs would you believe to Eastbourne...there was a short hold up on the m25... But nothing to shout about...the journey was like Chinese tourture as we had to endure a tape of a musical that Oliver than went on and on....we all knew the words at the end......every one was on about it at our first meal.....the day trip to Hastings and rye....was again FREEZING.....an old lady was in tears and bought herself a thick cardy for the journey back....to the hotel......AGAIN I asked for it to be turned off!.....he got angry with me!.....he gave a public apology to me when we got back on the coach and implied that he was rushing to ring 999 as a client had fallen, which was a down right lie as at the time of our altercation neither Vince or I was aware John had tripped!.......it was a down right lie!.....another person had rung 999.....every one was complaining about the driver so was surprised they all tipped him at the end...must be an English thing.....a lovely holiday only spoiled by the """" driver""""
Just came back from Devon driver Tom…
Just came back from Devon driver Tom amazing driver on those narrow winding roads. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and patient trip was well worth the money
First rate drivers
We've done a few trips now with this company and enjoyed all of them, although some locations are obviously better than others. Their drivers are smartly dressed, good drivers, knowledgeable about the destinations and always polite and courteous. We also had a good laugh with our recent driver who was around our age so this was an added bonus! Although the passengers tend to be older in years than my sister and I, some of them are good company and enjoy themselves to the full; for us "younger" travellers this is a great way to get to explore and not having to drive ourselves.
HIGHLANDS AND SKYE TOUR.
HIGHLANDS AND SKYE TOUR.
TRAVEL : very long journey because the coach went to pick up passengers in 8 towns , some passengers on the coach for 12 hrs.
HOTEL: rooms with loose wallpaper and damp patches very tired and tacky.
EXCURSIONS: disappointing, some passengers gave up and didn't bother on the last day. Spent more time on the coach than at the destination.
DRINKS VOUCHERS: holiday was advertised as having 2 free drinks vouchers. Turned out to be 1 voucher for half a pint, house spirit or small wine. After much complaining the hotel staff gave us an extra voucher.
OVERALL: very disappointing, will not use this company again.
Hi just back from Great Yarmouth & the…
Hi just back from Great Yarmouth & the Norfolk Broads left on 05/08/2019 returning 09/08/2019 Stayed at the Waverley Hotel if this is the kind of accommodation they use I will definitely not be using this company again (advertised as newly refurbished) it was not to standard definitely not worth the 3 stars I wouldn’t even rate it with 2 star. The lift only able to accommodate 3 people at a time, this causing problems at busy times. Access to the rooms would not be suitable for disabled due to the corridors being narrow with various staircases thrown in for good measure the lounge was very tired with old sofas to sit on and the decor was something to be desired and smelt of damp, the bar didn’t open till 5.30 pm, with poor choice. 25ml of vodka and a can of coke coming in at £5.50. Entertainment consisted of 1 guy on guitar. Breakfast was served at 8.00 sharp with no Lea way, Alex the coach driver asked for an early cup of tea on the day of departure, this was declined as breakfast starts at 8.00 and not before. Evening meal time was usually between six and 6.30 not much options available as you order your dinner at breakfast time yes there is a three course menu it’s ok if you like tuna pasta , pasta bake, baked potato beans and cheese, (you could only pick 1 filling for the baked potato and not both) chicken casserole with Powder potatoes and the ice cream was nothing other than cheap soft scoop tasted disgusting, needless to say wee ate out every night for dinner, our room was clean and tidy but very basic the furniture was very dark ,the bathroom was basic the shower had a corner opening, water pressure continually dropping to a trickle. access would not be suitable for the infirm and definitely not for a disabled person, no room to move once inside . I wouldn’t want to send my worst enemy to this place it was awful ,only good thing about this holiday was the trips were very good and our bus driver Alex was excellent
Edinburgh Tattoo
Edinburgh Tattoo. Just came back from coach trip with David Urquhart to Edinburgh Tattoo. Our driver, Derek, was highly experienced, well mannered and extremely helpful. The stops at the services were timed correctly. The company of the other travellers was a pleasure, we had some good fun. Can't fault the Willowbank Hotel in Largs. Very welcoming, friendly and very helpful all round, plus some quick repartee ! Food good and plentiful. Comfortable and clean rooms. Would definitely go back there.
I have just returned from a holiday…
I have just returned from a holiday based in Scarborough with trips to Whitby and York. I enjoyed the holiday and the staff were all very helpful, most of the passengers were senior citizens. The food was plain but there was a varied choice and lots for breakfast. We had a fantastic coach driver called Tony who made sure we had everything we needed as well as his banter. The hotel is old but I had a comfortable room at the sea front with a walk in shower.
***THE HOLIDAY FROM HELL***
***THE HOLIDAY FROM HELL***
So we leave stratford at 6:40 for a 2.5 hour coach tour around London to all the collection points. The coach stunk of diesel which was reported by us all right from the start, but nothing was done other than some sticky tape over a flap in the floor.
We finally head out of London for a very long drive, to discover the air con doesnt work, so we all start melting, and the coach has no windows, so the smell of diesal gets worse.
After several hours of deadly heat and stench, we finally arrive in Scotland, to find the motorway closed from an earlier accident. Some poor sod lost his life! We take the very long route round, and miss the ferry, to finally catch a later one, and grab a bit of fresh air while crossing - a blessing.
We arrive at the hotel, exhausted, sick, headache, and starving, to be told the chef couldnt wait and has gone home, and all the hotel was able to provide was soup and a sandwhich.
The hotel itself looks like a shabby haunted house, and very unkempt. The room is like a fernace. The bathroom window is glued shut, and the bedroom window that backs on to a grotty car park and massive tree has to be kept closed because as soon as you open it all the moths and flies come in. All the hotel was able to do about this was provide a small desktop fan, that made an awful noise all night and gave me a sore throat while I tossed and turned in a ball of dripping sweat.
The breakfast was bog standard, nothing to complain about but certainly nothing about it to lift the spirits. We were told that the coach is now fixed and we have a lovely day trip today, so what coukd go wrong. What we wasnt told was that only the deisal leek was fixed, not the aircon.
So, it turns midday, and we almost start to wonder how far this place is that we are meant to be visiting. The coach stopped for a scenic browse - at what!!!??? A line up against the edge of the road (photographed). Anyway, we finally arrive at 1pm, at a flipping shopping centre! 😫😫😫 where the coach driver proudly tells us that this is where we can buy all our suivaneers. I look around to see, Boots, Superdrug, New Look, The Royal Bank Of Scotland, and I feel like im at Ilford-On-Sea, infact 'on sea' is pushing it a bit as its more like a grotty part of the River Thames
And this holiday cost me over £400 with David Urquhart. Absolutely unforgiveable. With so many beautiful places in Scotland David Urquhart, you should be ashamed of yourself! I will be making a formal complaint on my return....

Review of Lochs, Glens and Oban 21st-27th July 2019
Review of Lochs, Glens and Oban 21st-27th July 2019. Ok having read through the previous reviews I do not think anything I am going to say will galvanise this company in to make any changes.
I will start with the booking and their admin which I found to be easy to use and no problems. About a week before we were due to leave for Dunoon we got our tickets and our pick up time was 6.30am. Scotland is a long way but for the life of me I cannot understand why they drag travellers from Croydon and local pickups all the way down to Kent ie Maidstone, Gillingham, Gravesend and Dartford to pick up adding 2 1/2 hours before we even started. Then after all that we go across the Dartford crossing and start one of our breaks at Thurrock services. When we finally got underway we rendezvous from our feeder coach to the actual coach at Watford Gap. The entire trip took us from 6.30 am to 9.15pm. I seriously thought about coming back at the end of our holiday on the train as I knew it was going to be the same in reverse. I cannot do anything other than compliment the drivers. The process was exhausting. The were courteous, patient and helpful. They were a credit to the company. I intend to do a separate review on the Glenmorag.Hotel. In general it not of an acceptable standard for todays discerning travellers. It was dated and tired with every area needing refurbishment. It is not good enough for the management to continuously say they are refurbishing. It is dire with plenty of trip hazards for the elderly customers to fall. The food was bizarre fish and Brussels sprouts to say just one evening on the menu, the majority of customers were very unhappy with the food. The facilities, ambience and food resembled that of a failing old peoples residential home. They definitely don't have a chef and I would seriously doubt they have a cook. The rooms were large, tired décor, but clean and well service and our view was to die for. However, the bathrooms are an insult to people who are paying good money to stay there.
We enjoyed the trips out the country is absolutely stunning. Our driver and his assistant made these days interesting and had the patience of a saints. There are three areas I believe improvement is required. The collection and put down on the feeder coach. This really has to be better thought out. Consider stop using the Glenmorag Hotel until the refurbishment has been completed and the barely edible food is improved. To finish on a positive note the staff worked very hard and were always pleasant. I enjoyed aspects of he holiday but overall I do not feel the hotel was if an acceptable standard. My full review of the hotel will appear shortly on tripadvisor.
Badly run rip off
Happy to take your money , but do not deliver on there promises. I would NOT recommend
Summer Fun 4 Day Misery Trip
Travelled on a Summer Fun 4 day Mystery Tour First and last Mystery tour. End up in the worst hotel I have stayed In BRITANIA HOTEL STOCKPORT Read trip adviser surprise DU put us in this hotel Buffet Choice of food was disgusting Pollock fish followed by two days of fish cakes Choice of three meals over the four days Chicken and Chicken Curry Fish and Fish cakes and Pork All with frozen self service vegs Same Desserts for 4 days Selection of Gateaux and Fruit Salads Being a mystery trip did not know destination until week before leaving People on their mystery tour be aware it will be a Brittania Hotel somewhere
The Britania Hotel Stockport is a drop in hotel were anything goes. which is Not acceptable for Coach trips
No entertainment Very poor choice of meals stuck out in residential area No other facilities nearby Taxi need to get away from hotel
Have traveled on numerous occasions with DU Always very enjoyable and food excellent Our visits to Ashley Court in Torquay have always been brill Why they standards have dropped is a mystery to our group of loyal suporters Expected the usual good standards when booking Mystery Tour Never again
Mid-Wales Holiday
My friend and I booked a 5 day, 4 night holiday to mid-Wales. The coach was rather old and had no air conditioning although it was fixed on the 3rd day. Chris the driver was very nice, helpful and pleasant but he did not know the area very well. We stayed at the Glen Usk Hotel which was OK. It is very dated but you get what you pay for. The central heating came on at night and although everyone complained nothing was done. We had to walk down 4 steps to our rooms (219 and 220) and the light was out. We told reception who said it would be fixed - it wasn't. It was a real hazard. The staff were FANTASTIC but extremely over-worked. The food was acceptable. The holiday placed emphasis on the Brecon Beacons but on the day we went there, we had 2 hours in Brecon followed by about 2 hours in Llandovery! Everyone was sick and tired of walking around small towns where there was nothing to do in the time we had! We NEVER entered the actual Brecon Beacons National Park which is what I though we would do. We have another holiday booked with DU and I sincerely hope it will be a better one.
Just come back from Folkstone on 12th…
Just come back from Folkstone on 12th July and the journey was a nightmare?
The Driver was definitely not a people person?
He was no help at all?
It took us 11 hours to return to Port tablet?
I am sorry to complain but it really was a nightmare?
On the plus side Hotel and food fantastic?
Prince of Wales hotel in Southport
I have just returned from this so called hotel prince of Wales Southport . which I booked through David urquhart .it was supposed to be one of there new trips this year I am shocked at the state of this place our room had hole in the wall wallpaper hanging off, the carpet was stained the windows all mouldy pictures too prove it . The room smelled of stale urine . The food was terrible and repeated most things each night some of it I wouldn’t feed to my dog . It was self service for elderly people it was a struggle and on serval occasions had to clear your own dishes . We had to eat out on two occasion because the food was so tasteless and bland and not very appetising also the size of this so called hotel with 225 rooms with one toaster in the morning and also a plastic tubs sitting with teabags and coffee I thought was really bad coffee machine obviously didn’t work . Marmalade sitting out on breakfast bar in a tub with a spoon not exactly very hygienic . Mrs L Turton East Kilbride

Burlington Hotel, Torquay
Just back from lovely Torquay after a 7 night stay at the Burlington Hotel with David Urquhart,
Andy an excellent driver that went the extra mile for his passengers. Hotel staff friendly and helpful food OK. Hotel has dirty carpets with the wallpaper ripped and paintwork filthy. Our room was stinking of damp, the lounge seats were stained and ripped with part of the ceiling in the bar missing due to damp. If you are thinking of visiting Torquay please avoid this hotel like the PLAGUE
I recently went on the Isle of Wight…
I recently went on the Isle of Wight weekend with DU , which was my first trip with this company. Our driver was a pretty new driver, but overall the coach side of the tour was good. However what spoiled it was the hotel which both my Mother and I stayed in ( Channel View). This hotel was rated as a two star budget hotel, however if there were a minus two star rating then this hotel would be awarded it. On arrival at the hotel the Manager came on the coach , and instead of greeting guests to her hotel, she spoke in an unprofessional manner, and herded us of the bus like cattle. The hotel interior needs a complete overall, the room which my Mother and I stayed in was on the ground floor. The room was dark inside , the lace curtain on the window was filthy, and looked like it had not been washed in a long time The single beds were more suited to a child because of their size, and the bed bases were all stained. The finishing of the tiles etc in the bathroom were shoddy, and the flooring at the entrance to the bathroom was coming up. We had to leave the bathroom light on all night , which had no casing on it , in order not to trip when we went in to the bathroom. The interior walls of the room looked as though they had not been painted in years and were stained throughout. A small 16 inch TV was provided which we could not watch because the aerial socket was loose on the wall. These are only a small number of things that were wrong regarding this hotel, although the list is endless. I am questioning as to whether DU actually visit these hotels to see where they are putting their guests. Our whole weekend was unfortunately spoiled by the hotel.
