As much use as a chocolate teapot

I had this app for a year and it worked ok. Until recently would probably have given it 3.5 stars. Bit glitchly, and not clear when passwords had been updated or timestamps to confirm and choose between multiple versions. vpn very difficult to use. Kept prompting me for payment when it implied it was part of the product. Then a few weeks after renewing for another year, I started to get messages the app would stop working unless I upgraded to a new version - which needed ios 18. I have an old phone (iphone 10) which works fine and I have no need/ intention to upgrade/exchange. But this phone won't allow upgrade sto Ios 18. Again I don't feel I need this. I wasn't warned of this upon renewal. Very unhelpful support response which was akin to - oh dear that's a shame for you - but the world moves on. No attempt to resolve or provide a workaround or compatibility for existing devices / customers. Good luck to you if you invest time, money, and trust your data with this shower.

Go find another program, waste of money

I wish we could leave negative stars. I am so tired of Dashlane NOT doing what WE are paying it to do. This program is nothing more than an excel database that stores passwords, nothing more. It auto fills on about one in 20 websites, if that. I have to continually enter my master password DESPITE having biometric logins. It says " we will periodically ask you for your password" but it is nearly every time, maybe every other time. I am SO sick of having to enter a 25 digit password JUST to get to my passwords, 20 times a day. Either use biometrics or don't but quit saying you do when you DON'T!!!

And forget having it auto fill. that is a joke. RARELY does it ever auto fill the password. And most of the time, you cannot even copy and paste the password from Dashlane. instead, you have to enter all the info manually.
And I love the fact (NOT) that EVEN though it HAS the actual log in and password information, you have to enter it all anyway. and THEN, AFTER you have had to look up, copy and paste or type all the info in...DASHLANE then suddenly realizes it has a duplicate login and asks you if you want to create a new log in for this website, OR USE THE ONE IT HAS ON FILE. But of course, until you go thru the pain of entering all the info, Dashlane doesn't even realize it has that in its system.
Finally, they do NOT update their software. I cannot recall, over 10 years, every receiving the typical message that says they need to update their system. I mean never. how is this possible for a company that deals in cyber security protection???

The search function has not changed in a decade and if you do not enter the company name EXACTLY as it is in listed in Dashlane, it doesn't recognize it at all. It has to be written EXATLY how it is in Dashlane or it doesn't recognize it. How is this a search function??

And lastly, god forbid you have a password that starts with a "W" or after. when you scroll down, you have to pan down and then pause, for a few seconds and wait for the program to catch up, then scroll down some more, wait for it to catch up, scroll down more, wait, scroll down, wait, etc.. SO UNLIKE EXCEL or ANY other program, you can do searches based on letters and you don't have to WAIT to pass down, screen by screen by scree, continually waiting for the program to catch up. this continues on and on until you FINALLY get to the bottom to get your password, which doesn't automatically link or copy, so you then get to manually enter it. THUS, it makes more sense just to use excel or access. But this program is the worst. it was great in 2005. But times have changed and it just doesn't seem like they care much.

Don’t risk it with Dashlane

Don’t risk it with Dashlane. You’ll get locked out of your account due to bugs and glitches and lose everything. Not just me having this experience either. Just look up Dashlane unexpected error and you’ll see people talking about it. Support is no help. Use 1password or something else.

Unreliable

I have been using Dashlane password manager on all my devices for over 10 years now and it's time to move on to a reliable password manager. It has gone down hill and is utterly useless now. Despite the option of staying logged on to the app for 14 days, it rarely does as you repeatedly have to log on. It no longer remembers passwords anymore and I am always forced to reset them across every site constantly. It doesn't sync at all. Save yourself a headache and try an alternative password manager as Dashlane's days are over. Of course, Dashlane support will blame the most common reasons, such as cache and cookies settings, but when you've already eliminated that, there's no excuse.

Used Dashlane for 10 years & I have almost 1800 passwords stored due to my work & all of a sudden I have been locked out of my account, losing access to everything! Support is rubbish. Moving to 1Password & starting all over again. 100% avoid.

Expensive and American

I have had no problem with the functionality of Dashlane. However the renewal premium they want to charge is very expensive, particularly compared with the equivalent in the US. Moreover with Trump can we trust a US company to keep this confidential information secure?

DO NOT USE DASHLANE

DO NOT USE DASHLANE
They have held my accounts hostage after "generously" upgrading my account to premium for a couple months. They gave free premium, which allowed me to save unlimited accounts. I made use of that and stored many accounts. Then the premium expired. I was limited to 25 accounts. They do not let you access your accounts until you delete accounts until you have a maximum of 25. You can't even copy passwords from those accounts. You can view the passwords, but that's no good if you have massive generated secure passwords. I though, OK these business cretins are holding my accounts hostage, I'll pay the ransom fee and purchase premium for 1 month. Nope. They now only allow you to buy one year minimum. Absolutely filthy disgusting business practices. Avoid this horrible company.

I would rate Dashlane a ZERO if it was…

I would rate Dashlane a ZERO if it was an option.
The App is okay but expensive.
The customer service is TERRIBLE! The customer service is not accessible by phone anymore (it used to be), or email. In fact the only way to try getting help is with a useless bot chat option. And the company indicates that they may not respond. How is this possible?
I’m locked out of my account after 8 years and they offer NO SUPPORT. After 3 days they don’t respond.
The prices have increased exponentially, and the customer service has decreased exponentially TO ZERO!!!!!!!!!

It used to work normally

I've been using paid version for over 8 years. It used to work without issues, but not anymore. There was a standalone app, not anymore, as it was removed for no reason. The only way to access your password is through web-browser extension and the mobile app. And when there are any connection issues, no access to your own data: "The Dashlane app is taking longer than expected to load. We apologize for the inconvenience. If this issue continues, please reach out to us. Contact us". When you contact, you chat with AI which gives you link to useless pages. It looks like you don't have control over your own data anymore. At any point they can cut you off from your own data which is somewhere on the cloud.
Second issue, before groups/collection was working, since a year, the account is a mess (a lot of duplicate collections) which makes collections usage useless.
Third issue, it reports half of my password compromised or found on the dark site, but I doubt it's true. I've reported the issue, but support is clueless. I think this dark web report is wrong. I rarely repeat the same password, so I think it's not possible (trust me, I've checked these dumps myself, rather than trusting unknown 3rd party), so it's just annoying warning, trying to force you to waste your time changing the password everywhere (which doesn't work anyway), I never had any account hacked. It's good tactic to scare newbies. Btw. How do you know my passwords are leaked? That means you're sending them one by one to 3rd party to check without my consent. That's the easiest way to make them leaked (even if they're hashed or whatever).
Another major issues is how extension behaves, it's beyond stupidity, especially when you're using another password manager, you disable Dashlane until you want to turn it on again, few seconds later, it's on again. The only way is to disable extension completely for the time being. Another issue is when it's trying to populate your personal info almost at every default field for no reason. It's very annoying, specially when you're during some kind of demo or recording, it keeps showing your personal info for no reason at every second click. Filling payments details is almost a miss, most of the time you just end up filling it manually.
I use to like this app at the beginning, but not anymore.
Today, I've wasted an hour to login to my account to access personal notes using high-speed internet, not possible. It's waste of time.
You basically pay monthly for premium, but for really nothing useful.
I've already started using alternatives (some are free and better) and slowly migrating.
Updates:
- 26.05.2025 - offline for couple of hours, "app is taking longer than expected to load. We apologize for the inconvenience". Reload didn't help. I had to remove it, as it was pointless and waste of time and money.
- 28.05.2025 - claiming my password is invalid, which is BS, I had to remove it again and install it again, then it worked.
- and many more like this incidents.
It's useless.

Doesn’t work properly/seamlessly on multiple devoces

Paid for the upgraded subscription and entered a world of pain as a result of desktop and mobile app versions not synching. Consequently had multiple passwords and was expected to manually download and merge two data sets myself in order to resolve the problem. No offer of mo why back or extension of subscription by way of compensation . So so bad. Avoid

It doesn't work

It doesn't work. Support takes days to respond and just send you links to unrelated support articles. I can't use the service and they want me to renew for close to $100. What a joke.

Dashlane lies

They illegally keep payment forms on file after you delete them and then lie about it. And if you're on a personal account, they make it virtually impossible to get support. Not on the app, not on the web. No email address listed. You have to Google just to find it.

Absolutely Disgraceful Customer Service – Stay Away!

I’ve been a loyal paying customer for FOUR YEARS, and the moment I hit a critical issue, this company completely abandoned me. I tried resetting my 2FA and ended up getting locked out of every single device except one. I’m now stuck, unable to work, and this mess has brought my productivity to a halt.

And guess what? NO REAL SUPPORT. Their so-called “chat” is just a useless bot loop. No live agents. No actual help. And their email support? Silent for DAYS. It’s beyond frustrating—it’s infuriating.

I’ve paid them for years, and this is how they treat their users? Unacceptable. Once I manage to regain access, I’m ditching Dashlane and moving to a proper password manager that actually gives a damn about its customers.

Avoid this company at all costs unless you enjoy being ignored when things go wrong.
