After I listed my business I've got some responses throughout the year, but they were absolutely the same. It's the same message saying ''Please contact me about this business'', but if you call the number provided, either no one answered, or someone answered but I clearly saw they weren't interested. No one ever actually called me or sent anything else, just the same ''please contact me'' messages. After some time I understood these were fake enquiries, probably some of the reviews here are fake as well.
I've got much more responses after I put exactly the same add to Facebook Marketplace.
That's my experience, Daltons was just a waste of time and money.

No support at all despite 2 polite inquiries
I wish to sell my business in the UK, because of all European countries the motorvehicle-related product can help there the most. In order to achieve the most of my ad I firstly sent a very polite inquiry for assistance to sales at daltonsbusiness.com in the very early morning of Dec. 23rd 2021. I never received an answer. After putting the issue aside for a couple of weeks and almost forgetting about the disappointment I decided to give it another try and registered with them. On March 2nd 2022 in the early
morning I sent another very polite inquiry for assistance of roughly the same contents, this time through the support form of the Daltonsbusiness website. This time I even had crystal clear evidence that Daltonsbusiness is in receipt of my inquiry since I received an automated answer. Again my efforts were dignified with no answer at all.
If a prospective paying customer, that desperately wishes to spend money to advertise on this platform, has to experience so much ignorance, how will then customers be treated, that have already committed to make the investment ? In my opinion an unwanted customer has at least deserved a clear rejection so he can coordinate his further steps towards a different way of selling his business.
Pure ignorance in contrast is absolutely counterproductive and deserves only one reaction: Adequate publication in the corresponding platforms to prevent others from getting disappointed and spending their money.

Good platform to advertise a business
Pricing seems fair even compared with a local paper. Easy to create your ad had 3 replies within 2 days would defo use again. I like the fact you can embed a video in your listing which you can’t do with 7 line ad in a local paper

I have used Daltons Business previously, and had well over 50 enquiries, however, after a great deal of thought, I decided to postpone the sale of
my business until retirement age. I am now in the process of selling again,

We are of course disappointed with your assessment however would like mention that at no point have you attempted to contact us to discuss any issues? We are available 24/7 via our webchat service and normal business hours are 9-5.30 Monday to Friday. We have also not received any emails from you other than moments before your review was posted which did not give us an opportunity to address any issues you were experiencing.
The system is indeed very simple. A user completed the form and we then deliver the email to the registered email address. If not received on your side this usually means the emails may have gone into your junk folder if we are not on your safe sender list. On the few occasions an advertiser is not receiving enquiries they reach out and we advise them of this and the issue is resolved. We are not unfortunately able to control the settings individuals have on their inboxes.
All of this being said I would be keen to discuss this matter further with you and will ensure either myself or one of my colleagues reaches out to you this week.

Lots of time wasters with no money
Lots of time wasters with no money, who think that they can buy a business using none of their own money.
Daltons do zero vetting, so several enquiries came from people using made up names phishing for confidential information, who are reluctant to provide and proof of ID let alone funding.
Only a couple of genuine enquiries out of a dozen or so.
If that isn’t bad enough, Daltons then email you every 2 days wanting you to review their service !
This is really annoying, as the real judge of how good they are (or not) is actually in a month or so time when I will discover if their service has found me a buyer for my company !
Daltons are probably best-selling high street or corner shops, not much good for manufacturing or confidential sales.

In order to send an enquiry with Daltons we ask users to register their details with us. Daltons are not Agents, we are an advertising medium which makes it extremely difficult for us to fully vet over ½ million registered users, nor are we aware of any advertising mediums that are able to do so. A lack of response to your response to an enquiry does not mean that the user does not exist. There are certainly going to be some enquiries which are of better quality than others but we would dispute your claim that several of our users use made up names and are phishing for enquiries. Daltons have been connecting buyers and sellers of businesses in the UK for well over 125 years now and help literally hundreds of buyers and sellers every month to successfully achieve their goals.
As we are the largest business for sale marketplace in the UK we need to ensure that we make it as easy as possible for sellers to be able to create their advertisement. One of the best ways to do so is to ask customers who have done so to rate the platform so that we get insight into any areas we can improve upon, hence the reason we ask new advertisers to leave a review.
It is disappointing that you have only had a couple of what you define as genuine enquiries. We are one of the few online marketplaces who provide full support for both buyers and sellers and ensure that we are easily contactable should there be any need. In this case you could easily have given us a call or sent us an email to advise us that your advertisement was not getting the engagement required, in which case we would have been delighted to help optimise your listing with us.
As you did not leave any details we have been unable to identify your listing or account with us but would like to discuss this further with you. If you could be so kind as to reach out and contact us we are confident we can assess the listing and make the necessary changes/improvements to help you get the enquiries needed to sell your business.
