Landlords beware
Landlords beware!
I normally treat extreme reviews with scepticism, imagining that they come from either friends or enemies. I’m neither a friend nor an enemy and as a landlord I genuinely wanted it to work with Daislylets. Our first meeting with Ed Ogden, the branch manager, was great; he wasn’t a sharply dressed, comedy cufflink wearing smoothie from a posh chain of estate agents , he was affable, he wore a cagoule and was from a small local outfit. I thought we could get on and it would be a good match. We liked him. As we discovered it was a case of hook ‘em and cook ‘em. Ed reeled us in then passed us on to the maintenance department to be “cooked”. Well, we never really got to a simmer…..
We’ve been landlords for over 30 years and have experience of a lot of agents and Daisylets have to be the worst when it comes to managing maintenance issues. Our emails went unanswered, repair issues went unresolved for weeks/months. I would characterise the response as generally a bit chaotic, not in control. Towards the end of our relationship I ended up organising repairs myself remotely from 400 miles away using MyBuilder.com. I got some guttering replaced in a week that they had been unable to sort out in 2 months. They couldn't manage to get a painter in 4 months of asking. We tried the other maintenance person in the office and she was no better. Ed said he would step in and manage it himself but only really acted as an email conduit. The incompetence continued. I could go on but you get the gist.
Any positives? Yes, they found a tenant, collected the rent and took their fee (for what, I’m not sure). I would avoid them unless you are confident your property requires no maintenance.
