Consumers frequently complained about severe delivery delays, missed shipments, and mishandled specialty medications that lacked proper temperature control during transit. People also experienced unhelpful staff members, excessively long hold times, and frustrating communication barriers when trying to resolve urgent prescription issues. Many buyers felt completely ignored when seeking assistance, describing encounters filled with rude attitudes and unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles. Just switched from Optum to CVS and boy…

Just switched from Optum to CVS and boy has it been a ride. They keep claiming I have commercial insurance and Medicaid (I am NOT enrolled in Medicaid) and because of this, I owe CVS money for my Dupixent. The staff are not informed and I get the run around every time. It’s a mess and I’ve been afternoons in tears because of this company.

The staff is NOT helpful

The staff is NOT helpful. Added the entirely wrong medication to my allergy list, didn't change it when I pointed it out. Sent me a med in an injectable pen but no needles. Said I needed to have ordered the needles. My doctor didn't even know it didn't come with needles, how would I know? Then they charged me an additional $53 for the needles after the $120 copay.

JUST DONT USE CVS

JUST DONT USE CVS. you will pull your hair out and you will never talk to the same person and none of them know what there doing.
I had a drug program set up them them threw my doc. The the night mare started I told them not to send it unless medcare covered it. So they sent it and it froze on the porch. They never let me know when it was being shipped. Then they never sent the paper work that medcare needs
For 6 months I have been waiting for the paper work but they call demanding the 2600.00 like I told them from the start don't send it if medcare doesn't cover it! No wonder CVS is going out of business 🙄

Awful Pharmacy-DO NOT USE THEM

I went online to refill my medication which I was thankful they at least remind you it's time to refill you medications ........however what they failed to inform me was that they were actually waiting to hear from my insurance company because they were needing an Approval although they never mentioned that to me in the 4 month time frame Id been on this medication. They had to wait for me to almost be out of it to wait to tell me this important information. Therefore I switched pharmacies because this one isn't reliable to give you any important information.Do NOT use this pharmacy they are awful. Employees will also hang up on you.

Beyond incompetent

Beyond incompetent. I have over 40 hours of call time with CVS Specialty. I've done everything correct, I have a prescription approved through insurance, I have prior authorization. Yet every single time I try to refill they email me, message me, call me, they tell me I need to call my copay assistance program (despite already being set up and exhausting funds which they can see).

I call CVS Specialty back and now they tell me that I need to call PrudentRx (despite already being set up which they can see). PrudentRx tells me you're all set up would you like us to call CVS Caremark? CVS Caremark says you're good to go, do you want us to call CVS Specialty for you?

We call CVS Specialty to try and persuade them into doing their job. They argued with me again and with CVS Caremark until the nice lady went over my entire history again with CVS Specialty and told them what they needed to do. Mind you, I already called CVS Specialty and asked them to do exactly the same thing which they argued with me and said that they could not do that despite it being a normal procedure and having done it dozens of times in the past.

Recently, after multiple calls and days of struggling with CVS Specialty personnel, I had an order placed. The next day they cancelled my order with no notice or reason. They called me again, telling me I need to call PrudentRx.

In the end, after weeks of calls, I had an order placed through a guy who had 0 interest in helping me. I specifically asked for alcohol pads and a sharps container. Neither one was included in the package. So despite just spending $2,000 on a prescription, I had to go and buy my own alcohol pads.

It is absolutely unbelievable how bad everyone I've dealt with at CVS Specialty is at doing their jobs. The amount of extra time and stress that CVS Specialty adds to an already stressful experience is unacceptable.

Success

I have had more success with ordering my medication at this pharmacy than other specialty ones (Stelara). Each time it has been delivered on time without notable issues. The workers do seem to be reasonably knowledgeable and able to help effectively in my experience. It was hard when I changed insurances and did not get to work with them anymore - Accredo has been significantly worse (amongst others). Overall, a very decent pharmacy.

The absolute worse company to deal with…

The absolute worse company to deal with if you have copay card and debit card to cover Dupixent. Will find another company as soon as possible. They send balance to collections and then can't process payments when given information. No communication back they just hold up order every month until I call again. No notice has ever been received from collections company, no phone calls, no call back when they see an issue they just don't ship and send a text.

Literally WORST Pharmacy Ever Forced to Work With

This is the singularly worst pharmacy with which I've ever had the misery of having to work, but thanks to a specialty medication that my insurance only allows to be filled by this provider, I'm stuck with this place. Since we were forced to switch to them, they have managed to get EVERYTHING wrong to the extent that my time-sensitive, life-saving medication has been late at most a full month and at least 5 days **every single month** since we were forced to switch to them.

On top of that, my insurance switched from billing it as a pharmaceutical benefit to a medical one. When it did, it became a medical benefit with a maximum Out of Pocket expense of $X. I met that in early April, but this pharmacy -- being both to incompetent to understand a medical vs. pharmaceutical benefit and thus messing it up every month in that regard as well as too incompetent to understand a basic medical insurance principle of in-network Maximum OOP--has wasted now more than 108 hours of my time in calls trying to get them to process claims correctly (months before they could handle the medical vs. pharmaceutical benefit requirement, so that took a minimum of 3 and once 9 hours of a day on a phone EACH time to manage), to bill correctly (under pharmaceutical, I had no copay; so at the very least, under medical I should be gaining the benefit of my maximum OOP. But no. This provider and my insurance can't talk to each other), and lastly just getting my medications in a timely way (my provider that has to manage the ordering and provision of the medication has, too, spent dozens of hours in the circular loop of this pharmacy's inept processes and constant (and I am not being hyperbolic here--I do mean constant) inability to handle a single medication on a monthly basis with any semblance of customer service skills or predictability.

I would rather make my own medication in my bathtub using 1918 prohibition era, un-sterilized materials than work with this company. They are absolutely THE WORST. If you have them, lawyer up and demand your insurance work with another provider. That's what I'm doing. You will NEVER get your needs met with this place. Oh, and I didn't even tell you about the constant bouncing-around-from one person to another (once, I was bounced SEVEN times) because the departments can't communicate with one another. Conway's Law tells us that institutional change can only ever mimic the existing communication structure of an organization--so with silos like the ones CVS SPSpecialtycialty has, I expect that any change they might make will be equally as inept and isolating as their failed communications attempt.

World class poor service and…

World class poor service and communication. CVS Specialty will do everything to delay shipping medication. I’ve heard all the excuses including it was lost, it was never entered, the system said it shipped but it didn’t, the company person forgot to enter the copay code twice while holding the CTRL key, the manager was on break, and on and on w excuses.

Pharmacy is Incompetent-Stay Away

This pharmacy is incompetent and a danger to patients as the unnecessary delays in providing essential medications cause real harm. As a physician, I cannot ever even talk to a pharmacist as I'm funneled through CSR (Customer Service Representative) and PSR (Pharmacy Service Representative). Both of these reps have no experience in healthcare. The only reason that this horrible care is still allowed is because it part of a huge corporate monopoly. I hope that CMS cracks down on organizations like this. It is sad state and actively harms patients and ties up resources that should be spent caring for patients on needless mistakes, incompetence, and incorrect justification

What a nightmare dealing with this…

What a nightmare dealing with this outfit. My oncologist send a script to CVS. They called to inform me that my med was refused by insurance. WRONG! I don't have drug coverage under original Medicare, I'm self pay. Then they took forever to complete a required profile on the phone (45'), then was unable to quote a price unless I provided a credit card. WHAT? After escalating to a supervisor, I'm told the cost would be $57000 for a 3 month supply of Gleevec ! Currently, this cancer drug is in nationwide short supply. Searching online though, I found a legit US source which cost me $100 for 3 months.

CVS Specialty Pharmacy is a BAD company

I have been going back and forth with them arguing about the Medicare Monthly Payment Plan which I was enrolled in last month and they have been billing me the $2000 maximum in January and refusing to acknowledge that I am enrolled in the payment plan through my insurance company. This morning when I called (for the third time) the agent and their supervisor both told me that in their training if I had not been enrolled by the date of the order (Jan 2) that I was responsible for the $2000. I knew this was not true because I had been in contact with my insurance company who provided me a letter confirming my enrollment (Jan 4). I immediately called my insurance company and they had me on hold while they called CVS Specialty and verified and updated my account. This is terrible! CVS Specialty is not training their representatives nor their supervisors (all of which work from home as I can hear dogs barking and other cohabitants talking to them) with the correct information. I have all the documentation in case this is still not resolved but in all cases CVS Specialty Pharmacy has not acted in the benefit of the patient...they are trying to rip off seniors in a way which is against the law.

Look for any other specialty pharmacy!! Unless you enjoy lots of aggravation.

We are required to get my wifes medication through these scam artists. Constantly on the phone with the billing department who are always confused and won't ship it out. Yesterday I get a collection notice for an unpaid portion of a bill that they didn't credit my payment to. Called them up and they said they can't fix it even though it's their fault. Have to pay the collection company now that it was turned over. Does anyone in this company have a brain? Some of the rudest customer service gals I've ever encountered.

Their incompetence is likely killing…

Their incompetence is likely killing people. Try to get as much in writing from them as the agents will lie and not do what they said they would, or what the Doctors ask them to. Record everything with CVS Specialty, people, dates, times, departments, and notes - it's your only hope to get them to deliver Rx

CVS Specialties Doesn't Care

I take an extremely expensive heart medication and the cardiologist insurance folks were very helpful. I got a 90 day supply back on December and my first open to place another order was on March 7. Did that and when I checked out when I was going to receive it, it was past the supply that I had. They don't seem to care. To them it is no big issue, but if I am going to take a $125,000 per year drug, no matter who pays for it, they need to be more responsive

Now I know where morons go to work..

Now I know where moron go to work... i have tried in vain to work with CVS Specialty for over a year, simply because they are the only ones that you can buy injectables from. each and every month if not more often, I get a text to call them about issues with my prescription, I call, and they ask why i called... then for another hour or so, I get bounced around to numerous other 800 numbers. each time they end up stating that there is NO problem they can find. next month, the same thing. this has gone on for over a year. Today, they said... I'm not in their system.
today, i told where they can shove the medicine... hopefully they get the message.
