Extremely disappointing customer service and complaints process

I recently visited Currys Manchester Arndale to return three Click & Collect items originally collected from their Kensington store in London.

The items had been purchased hurriedly to avoid delaying an exhibition setup, but it quickly became apparent that our existing equipment would suffice. We only needed the USB stick we'd purchased, so the remaining three items were completely unused and unopened, still held together by the original rubber band with the Kensington collection docket attached.

The first colleague I approached offered very little assistance before directing me to Dan, who I believe may have been a team leader or manager. I attempted to explain the circumstances, but found his manner abrupt and dismissive, with little interest in helping. He suggested that although he could process the return, doing so would likely cause issues with their stock system, so he wasn't in a position to proceed.

I found this extraordinary. Why should Currys' internal stock procedures prevent a customer from making a legitimate return?

I subsequently contacted telephone customer services, only to be incorrectly informed that the items couldn't be returned to a store and would need to go back via DPD. This directly contradicts Currys' own website, which states that small, unopened items can be returned to any UK store. This was also confirmed by their live chat team the following morning.

I eventually reached the complaints team via live chat and spoke with Tracy, who was polite but seemingly constrained by company procedures. Beyond apologies and a £20 gift card offered as a goodwill gesture, there was little meaningful explanation or reassurance that the issues would be addressed.

I also pointed out that I would now have to purchase a Jiffy bag to return items that should have been accepted in-store. A minor expense, admittedly, but one that perfectly illustrates how Currys' failings have created additional inconvenience and cost for the customer.

Perhaps most frustrating is the lack of transparency in their complaints process. With no readily accessible email contact and seemingly no mechanism for customers to receive updates or outcomes, it leaves the impression that complaints are simply acknowledged rather than meaningfully investigated.

What should have been a straightforward return has involved an unnecessary store visit, multiple customer service interactions and considerable wasted time.

I'm not looking for compensation. I simply expect staff to understand their own returns policy, treat customers with courtesy and take responsibility when things go wrong.

Unfortunately, this experience has left me with very little confidence in Currys' customer service or complaints process, which is precisely why I'm sharing it publicly.

Appalling threatening ‘manager’

I bought a Versa 4 for £199. Returned to store the next day as it didn’t work.
Was charged £45 for them to ‘look’ at it and agree yes, it was faulty and was replaced. I actually was told I had to pay £45 or I could leave the shop with a broken product ! I am a pensioner and actually felt quite threatened!

I asked for my £45 back as they sold me a faulty product . I didn’t get it back .

The tech guy who ‘looked’ at the watch was good, professional and thorough.
It’s the man who said he was the manager overseeing the shop as the usual manager was in a meeting, that had an appalling attitude and no way should be in a position where he is front facing customers,
I have made a formal complaint

Dreadful service from Currys

I bought a new WHICH recommended Beko oven. However since it was delivered it hasn’t worked. I had an engineer visit from Beko, but he was useless and the oven still doesn’t work. Additionally, I have tried to register through the Curry’s telephone given online, but after choosing options, it just hangs up. I am very annoyed that after 3 weeks I am no further with my refund.

Sold a used/incomplete item as brand new & aggressive manager misconduct!

I am deeply shocked by my recent experience at the Currys Manchester Arndale store (Branch 5214). On Saturday 22nd August, I purchased a JBL Charge 6 speaker for £129.00, believing it was brand new.

When I opened it, it was clear that Currys had sold me a used customer return as 'new stock.' The factory box seal was already broken and dirty, the speaker inside was dusty, and the standard manufacturer's white protective wrapping bag was entirely missing.

I went back to the Manchester store on the exact same day to return this incomplete item. Instead of helping, the Store Manager was incredibly hostile, shouting at me and raising his voice aggressively in front of other shoppers before flatly refusing the return. I then tried my local Kettering branch, who confirmed the internal packaging was missing but told me I had to take it back to Manchester.

Selling used goods as brand new is a breach of the UK Consumer Rights Act 2015. I have already raised a formal dispute with Klarna to freeze my payments and emailed the Executive Office. I want Currys to issue a return authorization immediately so I can drop this item off at my local Kettering branch for a full refund. (Receipt Number: 068921)
