They manage to lose money even on successful exits

I have been on Crowdcube for many years and overall started well but overall the service matured into something very bad and lazy. The platform charges for nothing as the service they provide which in theory should be to keep some sort of minimal supervision on the exists and is non existent, even when a business lists through an IPO they manage to lose money - case and point the 20/20 Biolabs recent IPO where they had no idea they were going to list even though the company had been talking about it for months in their updates to shareholders - shocking! This is in tandem with a very bad track record on investments - even some of the "success" stories like Freetrade delivered massive losses for +90% of shareholders overall so yeah. I'd thread very very carefully - the service idea is strong but the execution is awful - I would gladly pay more for it if they had any minimal level of service and protection.

Easy to use

Easy to use. I'm a small investor, taking a few small risks with promising start ups that I like the sound of. Your platform is simple and clear and leaves me with no illusions about the risks involved.

Read all the warnings and only invest money you can afford to lose

I'm by no means well off, and had never imagined I'd become a 'shareholder' in companies until Mission launched through Crowdcube. I decided to support them and just bought a small number of their shares. The process was straightforward and Crowdcube made it clear throughout that there was no guarantee of profit, so I was aware of the risk attached to my investment. If a company's funding target isn't reached, buyers are notified and their money refunded quickly - which has happened a couple of times

Terrible investments and minimal or zero governance

People write things like, 'great experience investing for the first time' etc but that's the experience at the beginning of the shiny journey. Issue is, companies raise money and then that's it, company fails to give updates, Crowdcube state they are chasing, but nothing happens... until you read the striking off notice.

Crowd investing through any site is a mugs game. You may end up with a little perk, but the loss of investment (and that's total return is very rarely going to sit above base rate).

I was investing in CC before fees so now you're basically handing them cash for providing an investor finder service and then near zero governance. Simply avoid is my advice

Hello Rob,

Hope you are well.

We are sorry to hear that your experience was not as expected. We understand that some companies do not communicate as effectively with their shareholders as others. We have been actively working to improve these communications and encourage all companies to update their investors regularly, as we recognise how important this is.

As you know, investing in private companies involves risks, including illiquidity, lack of dividends, loss of investment and dilution, and it should be done only as part of a diversified portfolio. Crowdcube is targeted exclusively at investors who understand these risks and make their own investment decisions. Please click here to read the full Risk Warning (https://www.crowdcube.com/explore/risk-warning).

Best wishes,
The Crowdcube team.
