Corus Hyde Park - poor stay

Stayed in Corus Hyde Park and to say we were disappointed is an understatement. The room was nothing like the images online and was pretty much just a step up from a hostel. Plug sockets smashed and a bathroom you couldn’t swing a cat in. A lot of money paid for a very poor room. Will not be staying here again for sure. Very very disappointed.

Corus London Hyde Park

This was our second stay at the Corus Hotel in London Hyde Park, and we had another lovely experience. During our first stay, there were a few minor concerns, but Minoli from Guest Relations addressed them promptly and efficiently. On this visit, we stayed for two nights with our eight-year-old son, and everything went smoothly thanks to Minoli’s personal attention.

One highlight for us was the thoughtful gesture of leaving colouring sheets and crayons in the room. It may seem like a small detail, but it really made a big impact on our son. He also made friends with Alice at reception, who was wonderful with him—he even left her and Minoli some drawings as a thank you!

The hotel’s location is perfect, just next to Hyde Park and Lancaster Gate underground station. We’ll definitely be staying here again in the future.

Many thanks,
Nikki and Dale

We attended this hotel yesterday

We attended this hotel yesterday, for afternoon tea. It was good value for money (groupon deal). The food was lovely but the staff and service were shocking! On arrival we had to find a staff member to seat us, We were offered tea of our choice followed shortly by our food but when we were half way through we had to ask for our Prosecco as it hadn't been brought to us. The staff seemed like it was too much effort and they looked miserable!!! One table asked for ice in her water and the waiter (Ezio) said.
"its cold"! Again the lady asked for ice and he said "its cold already" asking her to feel the jug! and refused to get her ice!!! He just walked off, exceptionally rude I feel!! We felt like we were an inconvenience just being there and for this reason I would not go to this hotel again!!! Even when we went to leave, no staff around..we just got up and left!

Terrible, rude and disrespectful front desk service.

Terrible, rude and disrespectful front desk service. I checked into the hotel at 4pm at the end of April. I was there with my fiance who is 15 years my junior. The 20-something girl at the front desk immediately rolled her eyes and picked up the phone to check on a 1st floor executive room. She asked me to wait in the lobby. Immediately afterwards, 3 couples arrived and were given their rooms on upper floors. In seeing this, I asked her why the wait when others were given their rooms immediately, she said that only Executive rooms were available on the 1st floor and none were available at the time.

Long story short, after given our room which had a terrible box spring made of of 2 rolling platforms that squeaked and moved from the slightest movement, the following morning I asked the other front desk person if Executive rooms were only on the first floor. He said that they were all over the hotel in all rooms.

The presumption of the desk person that I was having an affair, or was some lecherous older man out for a good time, prompted being given a bad room. I have written Corus hotel about this, and they apologize but with no resolution. I have asked a 2nd time for a refund, and all I get is "crickets".

The price for this hotel was expensive and for the price was definitely not worth it.

Absolutely disgusting hotel St James…

Absolutely disgusting hotel St James hotel in Grimsby. Stayed 11/03/2024. As you walked into the room the carpet had a piece added but poorly butted and stuck. The bathroom ceiling was peeling the sealant round the bath needs redoing as it was black in places. The toilet roll holder had been snapped and taped together with silver tape. The very dated unit with the TV the kettle etc had most of the varnish worn away. I couldn't wait to get out of there. £67 for a night booked with Booking. Com was outrageously over priced for a tip of a hotel. On Booking.com reviews i noticed a review from January that had photos of the same room that i am now reviewing and nothing had changed even the snapped toilet roll holder. Unbelievable!! Booking.com why on earth are you still advertising for this hotel?? I would like my money refunded please as you should've informed me just how disgusting this hotel was.

Would not recommend

Staff are wonderful & the breakfast was great!

The Sink in our room was broken which I reported and was not sorted by the time we got back (went out for 5 hours!), during the middle of the night the heating in our room kept turning on so NO reason reported to reception after being woken up multiple times and they gave us another room - we didn’t care at this point as long as it had a bed we could sleep in.

The new room was a downgrade to what we had paid extra for (this was refunded after due to issues) and this new room the heating wouldn’t work at all & the room wasn’t very clean.

Breakfast was wonderful & a lot of variety which was great!

Overall the staff were quick to sort issues but at 2am we didn’t care about anything other than sleep and the food was good but I wouldn’t say you'll have a good nights sleep.

We just had a very nice stay at Lancaster Gate. The staff was very service minded and friendly. We arrived at 10 am in the morning - we were not supposed to check in before 15 pm.
Our room wasn’t ready and we were in a hurry because we were going to a football game at London Stadium. They simply upgraded our room with no extra charge to help us.
Nice location, close to the underground 🚊 we will definitely come back another time 👍🇩🇰

On my checking out the 27/08/23 l was told that the £30 deposit would be refunded in a week time.
When l called the hotel a

I emailed the hotel twice receiving no reply, l called the hotel 3 times still no deposit has been reaccredited to my bank account.
24 Days are gone l am still waiting for my money.

If you like flushing your toilet, don't go.

If you like flushing your toilet, go somewhere else. We have been down to the reception 5 times to tell them that our toilet is broken. Everytime, they tell us that it will be fixed as soon as possible. Everytime, nothing happens. It has now been three days.

The breakfast is aggressively mediocre. I recommend Sally's around the corner; much cheaper and much much better.

The rooms, but especially the halls smell like someone covered up a mess with fennel spray.

Hyde Park is wonderful, and right outside. I guess the location is the reason the hotel still exists.

Worst hotel stay ever!

One of the worst stays of my life, if not the worst!

We encountered the following:
- Extreme damp on the wall and poor conditioning causing asthma attack (not safe for health in general).
- The walls/ceiling leaking with water and floor soaking from it.
- I paid for a large king/queen size bed and it was actually 2 single put together.
- When politely talking to the receptionist named Jo (around 5ft 4, bleach blonde/grey/white hair, she was exceptionally rude, blunt and did not seem to care at all. We were not the only customers she was rude to.

We were promised a refund but 2 years later have still not received it and still chasing.

Zero customer service

Full credit for the stay agreed with Corus so I remove my review.

Arrived at the Corus Hyde Park hotel around 3.00pm. Had a drink in the bar and went back to our room (no. 848) to change/shower etc. to go to the theatre. The water in our room was stone cold (sink/bath and shower).
Advised reception, who said they would send maintenance to take a look/fix. When no one had arrived by 4.30/5.00pm we had a cold shower/strip wash/shave, dressed and went down to reception to advise we were setting off to the theatre. We were GUARANTEED the problem would be 'sorted' or an alternative room allocated when we returned later.
We arrived back at around 11.30 pm to be told that our problem HAD NOT BEEN RECORDED and NO ONE knew ANYTHING about it. We checked the room and still there was no hot water. The night porter found us an alternative room (no. 834). It was now well after 12.00 midnight.
To add insult to injury the room key didn't work and we had to go back to reception, the night porter had to come to the room and use his 'master' key to let us in (advising that the 'door battery was dead' ).
The room so small it was like a cupboard, with the bed touching the wall on 1 side, not an Executive Double Room as booked and paid for.
Next morning, with amazingly no manager available, we were guaranteed the manager (Heetashee) would phone and/or e-mail us when she arrived.
The contempt for us has continued as NO ONE has bothered to get in touch.

Sewage coming up through the bath when running the sink tap. The toilets don’t flush properly and they clearly are aware of plumbing issues at the property. The staff are friendly but it’s clear they are inundated with complaints. Filthy dirty and overall disgusting. Avoid, nothing works at this place. Overpriced at £300 for two nights. It’s horrible

Very, very poor!

Booked through OffPeakLuxury.com who take no responsibility and pass buck on to to Hotel - in this case the Hyde Park on Lancaster Gate. Rooms were tired, dirty and freezing. Brasserie closes at 7.45pm sharp, chef goes home - even if you're in the middle of dinner. Had to bring forward original dinner reservation due to lack of communication. We were shown a room on the 10th floor but rejected as hit with an overpowering stench of marijuana. Not pleasant.

Poor Customer Service

My daughter had booked for myself and her to stay here as a birthday gift for me at the end of January 2022. Sadly, my father suddenly passed away prior to us visiting.

I immediately contacted the Operations Manager, Heetashee Patel, who kindly agreed we could have a refund.

To date, despite me chasing her on several occasions, this has not been done. It was booked through Wowcher and apparently, the hotel have no control over the wowcher refund.

This is now a month later, and again I have emailed Heetashee and have yet to receive a response.

· 4 star hotel - Ha

· 4 star hotel :
1. it is summer in London, I paid for a superior room with A/C. A/C not workign, reported to recpetion, no maintenance, no move to a room with functioning A/C. Hotel knew it wasnt workign when i booked in, the ceiling tile was removed as someone had been workingon it but not fixed. NBad experience poor response, 4 star hotel - pathetic
2. Breakfast : breakfast was not set up. had to wait 10 mns to be seated. no water for coffee, toaster not working and staff not responsive; cold bacon, cold beans, cold egg. Reception staff couldnt careless - such a terrible experience. Go to a holiday inn, a double tree, a prem inn, a back street doss house - you will be far bettered served.

Birthday treat at the chorus hotel

Yesterday the 08th of October, my friend Carole booked an afternoon tea birthday treat at the chorus hotel at Lancaster gate London, through Groupon to our experience it's our first visit to this hotel I was amazed to see how huge this hotel is . When you arrive at the reception the staff were polite, and welcoming smartly dressed they pointed us to the restaurant we were greeted and seated eventhough we arrived early the waitressed greeted us and offered tea or a glass of prosecco then was served with a lovely selection of filled brioche and scones and cakes the waitress Adriand was excellent she is very assuring making sure that everything was okay and if we enjoyed our afternoon tea we loved that experience and would certainly do it again and recommend other friends and family.
