Great in Aussie...hopeless on arrival in NZ
I moved from Aussie to Marlborough. The Australian side of things was perfect. A great pre-packing team, packer and uplift team, so 5 stars....then I arrived in NZ and the service fell apart!

Once the container was ready to be delivered, I advised a manager at Conroy's Nelson about road closures, but the drivers were sent too late so sat at a roadblock for 90mins and when the 2 guys arrived, they were not happy and kept saying they had an hour to unload. I told them the road was re-opening so they were OK. That fell on deaf ears.

The driver raced up the driveway before even having a look at how he'd navigate a turn halfway up. His "spotter" stood there and did and said nothing as the truck hit garden edging.

He said he was going to reverse up, I said no way, you'll spin your wheels. He ignored me and gunned it in reverse, sliding into the draining ditch and putting ruts in the gravel and breaking 2 taillights. He turned around and drove up, parked it from the house and said they'd carry it.

I just wanted it all in the garage of living room, and with all boxes labelled either tools or other like kitchen/art etc.

As the driver passed me with a box that was framed prints, I said "all those can go in the house" I got nothing, and he put it in the garage! After the 3rd time telling him, I gave up.
The other lad put 2 mattresses in the living room when I clearly said in the bedroom obviously.

The driver tried to lift a very heavy and full 5 drawer toolchest, prob 60kg, to which I said that defo needs a dolly....he ignored me and dropped it, then got the dolly! Not a word of sorry.

I was helping them during my lunch break as at this point, I wanted these 2 off my property. Once done, the lad handed me forms to sign and without a word, got in the truck and drove off.

I unpacked the toolbox and it was dented at both ends, making the drop down ledges unusable.

I emailed a manager about this on the same day. I got no reply so called the head office to lodge a complaint. Someone called me back. He was very apologetic, and said it pained him to hear that at the very last step, things had gone wrong as they work so hard in a very competitive market to win business. I thought it was a very fair and honest conversation, but it ended up just being hot air and empty words.

On the 24th Nov, he sent the below, wiping his hands and asking me to make my own insurance claim as they had met their obligations under their conditions of carriage.

We would like to acknowledge that you have the need to make a claim for loss/damage sustained to your goods. Please let us take this opportunity to offer our sincere apologies for this and any resulting inconvenience.
On checking our records, we note that you instructed us not to arrange insurance cover on your behalf. Your removal was carried out as per our Conditions of Contract for Removal and Storage under which we are not liable for any loss or damage.
If you arranged insurance cover with another insurer, we recommend you contact them immediately to lodge a claim.

I replied with the below on the same day. No reply has been sent and it's considered a close case.

I haven’t asked for a formal claim to be made formally, but complained about the overall service on the delivery day, that clouded an otherwise good experience.
Seeing as the damage was due to total negligence, surely this is covered directly by Conroys. The fact the staff member thought he could carry an 60-80kg metal toolbox on his shoulder up a steep driveway is beyond belief. I am convinced he was on drugs and he just didn’t listen to anything I was saying and was all fidgeting and over energetic.

At the end of the day, Conroy's took zero accountability for the actions of a clearly untrained, or perhaps uncaring staff member and I'm left to deal with my own repairs and claims.

I'd strongly not recommend Conroy's Nelson team to anyone, and probably not Conroy's NZ as management showed they just don't care and are all talk.

The team were awesome - from quote through to delivery of our things. They arrived on time. They were also best priced of the three quotes we obtained. But some boxes were marked very fragile and we instructed the team that they need to be put on top as they can easily break. Upon delivery the boxes marked fragile was on the bottom and 2 were damage that luckily be saved and we also lost to cabinets as heavy stuff was loaded on them. But the rest went smoothly

I used Conroy Removals for my move from Halcombe to Dunedin because of a positive previous experience. I can honestly say I have mixed feelings after this move. Luke, who did the quote was punctual and professional. The van arrived on time and the loading went well. The movers took time to protect fragile items and furniture. I was informed that a container of herbicide could not be transported because it would hazardous,. It would have been helpful to know that in advance because and alternative plan could have been made. Some items were left behind because I was told there was no more space in the container. I did not want to make it the new owner's problem so I called the office the next day. They said the items would be picked up but I have had no further communication. It took a week for the furniture to arrive, but I had been warned about that. Offloading was efficient. I noticed some of the boxes were damaged but so far the contents are intact. Only 2 items of furniture we unwrapped and the wrapping material was left on site. When the truck moved off, I noticed a few items had been left on the road.

Excellent service in all areas from pick up in Auckland to storage in Napier. This included retrieving a few boxes and then final delivery 5 months later. Office staff and delivery crew all excellent.
Excellent pricing also.

Excellent communication and easy to get hold of a real person to talk to
Turned up when they said they would at both ends
Staff at both loading/ unloading truck and at back office respectful and friendly
All our items were well packed with no breakages in the move to Nelson

Great service provided, with prompt responses and quotes, we moved from Auckland to Christchurch as it was smooth. Thanks

the team were excellent - I felt that the inital site review was great - in the middle a bit lacking in communication, but we got there in the end - I 'm a planner and needed to know more information sooner on times of collection etc - The pick up and delivery was fantastic, and the team both times took great care of my belongings and my new place not to cause damage - They got all our things to the right place in the house and did it while smiling!

Thanks Conroy removals you guys are so super efficient and the service was great. Would absolutely recommend. All our furniture was packed well onto the truck and all as it was when it come back out .

We were moved on the 18th of December and the guys at Conroy's were awesome. We helped with a lot of the moving stuff to make it easier and they did as much as they could. They were super quick, friendly and helpful as well. Have used in the past also and have found the same both times. Thanks!

Great experience with Conroy Removals. The team was easy to deal with, professional, and very accommodating. They even came earlier than planned when I needed access to my work computer, which I really appreciated. Everything went smoothly and was handled with care. Highly recommend.

The team turned up on time they were friendly helpful adaptable and polite and made me feel as if nothing was too much trouble.Everything was transported safely with no damage.

The packers Gracie was just amazing. Sydney was amazing with packing the trucks and then the delivery was fantastic as it rained the whole time.

Firstly the staff where all friendly & cooperative and did what they could to do a good job.
Some suggestions for improving the process though
- don't use sticky tape on furniture etc as it leaves a sticky residue that is hard to remove.
- don't bother wrapping in paper those items that don't break or mark as it just creates more paper to deal with.
- when re-using old boxes, cross out the old description of contents.
- where possible return big items to the house first as when left to last it is hard to get them into correct place due to boxes etc being in the way.

The quoting and evaluation process was fast and efficient.
The team on the day were very friendly and worked at a good pace.
Sadly my TV was damaged during the move but Conroy were very responsive and took immediate measures to compensate.
Overall I was very satisfied with them and have no issue recommending them.

We had an excellent experience with Conroys moving our furniture from Wellington to Bay of Plenty. Their communication & care of our possessions was excellent.

The removal truck was on time and the men were organised, efficient, very careful, good humoured and polite. Couldn't be happier thanks.
