Do better Common. Don’t be so money oriented that you forget the core of a business is good customer service, honesty and integrity. I have nothing good to say about this organization honestly. I have advised anyone I care for to save their time.
If you’re not American, you will feel very discriminated with this organization. They put me through all the stress you can imagine, and even in the end I never got the chance to live in the apartment. Misinformation, negligence, bad customer service, miscommunication among themselves. Common has been a horrible experience, almost like they didn’t want me there.
Although the customer service communication methods can benefit from a few updates, Common definitely cares about tenants and goes the extra mile to resolve issues. Upon first moving into an apartment, I had a problem with a former roommate and needed an urgent transfer. Common made me feel completely supported every step of the way. Throughout the transfer process, I regularly called the support team for updates and next steps, and not only did they send me follow-up emails with summary notes about each call, but they also coordinated amongst themselves to provide me with new housing options with immediate move-in dates that fit my budget.
One support specialist in particular, Blake, was especially helpful as he answered my calls immediately, stayed on the phone with me for long periods of time to get all information at once, and personally emailed me every day to ensure that my case was progressing.
All in all, highly recommend Common as a landlord, especially for people moving to the big city for the first time.
They try their best! With any issue I have had, I have gotten a response within 2 days. Depending on how urgent they have been very on top of things! Sometimes it may be a bit longer than needed but they do stay in contact until the issue is resolved. They try to be as accommodating as possible which I’ve greatly appreciated.

Horrible place, tenants make the worst noise at all hours, dogs bark at 2 am, packages are regularly stolen, bikes in the garage are stolen... and nightmare roommates pick fights all the time. It's a nightmare to live here!
Overall met expectations. Common provides flexible lease terms and that has been a huge plus for my living situation the past couple years. Issues I've had got resolved. My most recent experience has been with Ariel who helped promptly.

This was the first time I needed emergency help - with a late night lock out of all things. The front desk clerk was super-helpful - even though it was well past his quitting time. And the phone specialist was very pleasant to work with.
Whenever I call the emergency number, the Member Support Specialists are always, professional, polite, and understanding. Late this evening, I needed assistance with logging into the residential portal. Jayne was not only helpful, but she immediately solved my issue by sending me a link to access/enter the portal.
I have to say that The Member Support Specialists are the best part of living at a Common residence. I really appreciate all of their support when I contact them at any time of night or day.

Jane was absolutely wonderful, she first called me to help me with my building access, I was not available to speak at that, I requested a call back at midnight after getting off from work, she called me again at that time to follow up and assisted me with my request, Jane is absolutely a customer service rock star!

Negative review of Common Matteson: they will be very nice till you sign the lease. The nightmare starts after that! Very slow with repairs and supplies. Absolutely unresponsive collection departments. Watch out, they will charge you all kind of fees for no reason. They claimed they did not receive our check and told us to cancel it and send money by wire. After they received the wire, they tried to cash the check that they told us to cancel and charged us fees because the check had been cancelled. The collection department told us that they would reverse the fees but never did … lies after lies …
These guys have no integrity ! As soon as you write a negative review, they delete the entire post … shame on them!
I recently emailed the Common team with some concerns I had about moving in, and Blake was very helpful and quick to respond.
Ash was great! Invaluable assistance. Stuck with me until I accomplished my goal! So happy I was connected with Ash! Thanks!
What made this experience with Jayne an excellent one was the promptness of her responses, her politeness, cooperative tone of her communications, professionalism, patience, respect, and courtesy, and her taking her time to listen to and hear me and understand me and my concerns.

My experience with Common is so great because the apartment and the staff support are exactly what I need. Beautiful apartment and community, along with 24/7 support from the staff is what keeps me here.
Pathetic!
As I type this review I am stuck in my car at Fountain LA property at 10:30PM. I have repeatedly reached out to common to fix my latch app which is used to access all doors. Many a days I have just waited for someone to exit the building so I can enter. I have reinstalled and installed and reinstalled the app many times on my phone. btw I own a 14 pro max (stating this just to clarify there’s nothing wrong with my phone). The response is awful from common and the technology is not up to it. 25 mins for me now here. my name is Kuldeep Sah Gangola and I live at 601 Fountain residence!

Dear all,
I am facing an intent to scam for my rent with Common and the general conditions of my lease.
There is a leak in the building that is affecting 4-4 and the upper floor ( Common Monroe).
This is not new, other members declared that this is not the first time. And also was declared during the check in and warned them k wanted a relocation if this happens again. And they said it was fully repaired ( false). This is a leak that jn the past that was not correctly repaired.
I will be have to waste time calling lawyers to start a formal claim of this abuse. Because they want to charge me termination fee of 2 months of my contract when is their fault. Should be no fees at all, also they expect me to pay a hotel or have a room with no private toilet ( which is what I paid for ) until is repaired (+1 week).
I want to end my contract no fees and forget about common. But they want to keep on charging me this fee, I will proceed with a lawyer and also doing a webpage to document all this abuses to prevent future clients to be scammed. Don’t take common, is abusive and irresponsible.
I will make sure to prevent future client and investors for the system of scam for people that only want a peaceful and accesible co living in big cities like Washington DC.
Also if you have info on how to find a lawyer accesible to take this case or similar would be highly appreciated. ( I am not from here, I come visit often from Europe).
I just want to terminate my contract not fees, for something that is their fault.
Thank you very much.
AGD
Update 25/04/2023
After escalation, Common has agreed to terminate the lease with no fees and also will reimburse the days I was not living in the month already paid in April.
Ideally they should have been able to transfer me to a room with same conditions, which they had available 18 mins away ( Nosha) from my original building Monroe. Instead they offered one 1 hr away because Nosha had a high price difference.
Finally water is not leaking anymore but still repairs are ongoing and I know this from my roomates that are still there repairing the ceiling full of holes, so that’s not repaired yet and who knows what lives between ceiling between those two floors.
Those days had to pay from my pocket hotel to live in privacy and with water because was also cut from the building. Money that is not yet reimbursed and I need to still negotiate with the insurance company. So this is not yer over for me.
Thank you for your final decision, but again it was not a solution proposed by common knowing it was going to take 2 weeks to finally repair all. I had to fight all weekend for it on top of my personal duties and work during that (lost) weekend. Common needs to improve their best practices when this happens. And for futures renters, make sure to read carefully the contract when moving and what should be the solution for repairs +1 week confirmed by maintenance vendors. Specially repairs that don’t let you live in your private areas.
Thank you
Andrea.

Kayla’s level of professionalism is beyond definition but I will try. I have toured this particular property with Kayla several times. Each time I have had both significant professional and personal life changes. For each tour she has personally curated a list of floor plans that catered to my needs and interests. She has great up-sale skills as well. Anytime I picked a unit she would show me units that were in the same ball park price wise or square footage wise. This allowed me to look at the wide rage of possibilities and plan for my future self. Each visit was centered upon me looking for a place for just me and my dog. Eventually my girlfriend caught the bug and decided to break her lease at another property. I’m happy to say that the both of us will now be moving into a one bedroom unit together. Remarkable because I originally started this journey looking for a studio unit. The conversation started with 300+ square foot unit and ended at 700+ square foot unit. Thank Kayla for your patience and level of care.
