I learnt a lot more about craft chocolate. Our presenter was very informative and funny. I would have liked some coloured slides to help understand what chocolate is, how it grows and what countries... See more

Tasting Chocolate
I was gifted a chocolate tasting experience for my birthday, by a friend who was unaware that I have been receiving the monthly box from Cocoa Runners for some time now. I can honestly say that, while lockdown was far from enjoyable, the chocolate, and the anticipation of receiving it, made it more bearable.
The tasting experience is delivered over zoom, in tandem with menti.com. It is well designed and thoughtfully delivered by a highly knowledgeable presenter, with plenty of opportunities for interaction. All contributions were valued. As he said, the experience of tasting chocolate is so individual, there can be no wrong answers.
Cocoa Runners is, as they state, passionate about chocolate. After the tasting experience it is highly likely that you will be, too. And I'm not talking about the claggy, fatty, commercially produced stuff that haunts out supermarket shelves, either.
Great tasting session
Excellent, interesting presentation for the tasting session. Lots of information and great chocolate.
Fabulous way to spend a couple of hours
Enthusiastic, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable host. Fun and pressure-free environment with the encouragement of any questions. Each chocolate was unique and Spencer provided real insight into the different bars. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in chocolate or just looking for a fun evening.
Lovely chocolate - unfortunately arrived damaged.
Really love Cocoa Runners and the amazing range of artisan chocolates. However, unfortunately one of the bars has arrived snapped. I wouldn't be bothered if it was for myself but it's a gift. The chocolates arrived crammed into a flat box, with very little protective packaging (one layer of tissue). A little paper padding wouldn't go a miss and would prevent this. The bar that is broken also has a really intricate beautiful design in the chocolate itself, that will now not be fully appreciated by the recipient. Hopefully packaging can be reviewed to prevent this happening again :)
Disappointing tasting experience
I booked a chocolate tasting experience for myself and my husband, which is a Zoom meeting where you try different types of chocolate. Unfortunately only 2 of the 8 samples sent to us matched those being “tasted”, therefore it made the whole experience very disappointing. I contacted them afterwards to express my disappointment and I never received a reply or explanation. It promised so much but did not deliver. The chocolate is very expensive, but had my experience with the company been more positive, I probably would have been more inclined to order again.
Unclear promotion and charged after cancelling
I was a fan of cocoa runners since 2015 and brought monthly subscriptions, virtual tasting and chocolate bars. I got an offer to save £10 on a subscription for my first box, I signed up and then decided to cancel after the first month. When I emailed to cancel (no way to cancel in your online account), they said that I had to have 3 months of worth of subscription in order to cancel or I needed either pay the £10 discount. So I paid £10 and cancelled my subscription. 3 weeks later, I was automatically charged for another month. I emailed twice to complain, this isn't great customer service. I got no apology and my amount was refunded within a couple of days. I was a fan of cocoa runners but the customer service is appalling, I'm so angry that you don't treat customers well despite having an amazing product.
100% recommend
100% recommend! The kit is really well prepared and the session is very entertaining and well prepared. Nick was great and stayed well after the hour so we could all ask our questions! And the chocolates are just amazing, of course :)
Chocolate Tasting and Subscription - Can't Recommend Enough!
I attended my second chocolate tasting evening and enjoyed it enormously. It was such fun to try a variety of chocolates (this one was focussed on Colombian cocoa beans) and to be guided through each one by Spencer and the team, who are unbelievably knowledgable and passionate. I also subscribe and receive the monthly box of 4 bars. It's an amazing and inspiring way to learn about my favourite food and I love that it's contributing to regenerative cocoa farming.
Cocoa Runners is on a mission!
Cocoa Runners deliver high end, ethical craft chocolate. The taster sessions online/on location are also to be highly recommended as Spencer delivers a very enjoyable 90 mins of shock, fascination and fun opening up the real world of chocolate to the uninitiated. Thank you Spencer, I look forward to the next one ✨️🙌✨️
Such an outstanding company
Such an outstanding company. They work with a truly incredible number of makers, and offer their bars at the lowest prices I've seen. There is no better source for craft bean-to-bar chocolate, period. I love the subscription, with the automatic infusion of new and interesting chocolate into each month. Additionally, I've been so grateful for the introductions to chocolate makers. Wherever I travel, it seems Cocoa Runners has connections with someone working on good chocolate, and they are happy to connect me with them so I can visit and learn more. Such a huge value!
Fantastic experience!
What an educational and enjoyable experience! Such a variety of chocolates, and the host was fantastic. Highly recommend a virtual (or in-person) tasting!
Excellent craft chocolate tasting experience
Craft chocolate tasting experience was fabulous!
Two hours of tasting, learning about chocolate & having fun interacting with others on the call. Great value, a very knowledgeable host & a super evening. Would definitely recommend.
Don’t expect your order to arrive and…
Don’t expect your order to arrive and don’t expect it to be solved if you chase it up.
VERY DISSATISFIED
Chocolate will never be the same!
Really fun and also educational 90 min in-person tasting session. Opens your eyes to the commoditisation of chocolate.
A fun and informative chocolate tasting
A fun and informative online chocolate tasting. Spencer shared his passion for craft chocolate, guided us through tasting the different bars, and added in some history of chocolate making and farming. Highly recommended.
Craft Chocolate Revolution virtual…
Craft Chocolate Revolution virtual tasting was informative and delicious. We received our chocolate tasting box then booked the virtual event. We were walked through how to taste chocolate and the development in chocolate and the rise of craft chocolate.
Choc tasting gift was fantastic
Choc tasting gift was fantastic. Great quality, interesting chocolate and very informative, enjoyable zoom session. I loved it, thank you.
Chocolate out of date
Do not buy from Cocoa Runners unless you are happy to recieve out of date chocolate.
Atrocious Customer Service - DO NOT RECOMMEND
Ordered chocolates from them for the first time before Christmas, only to get package delayed because an item listed as available on their website was no longer in stock after purchase. I emailed them back about a suitable replacement hours later, only to get said replacement (and whole order) delayed by about a week. Because of this, my package arrived after Christmas despite attempts to contact them regarding update. When I called after emailing and hearing nothing back, I got abruptly hung up on after delivery update. When I emailed again about wanting to raise a complaint, I heard NOTHING back and it’s been 2 weeks. Very poor experience and I will not spend a single pound there again (despite my liking of their selection of products) and do NOT recommend this place to anyone due to the very bad customer service experience I had. It just seems like they really don’t care about the customer after you’ve spent money with them.
Very misleading details on website.
Very misleading details on website.
Purchased a 6 mth chocolate/whisky gift subscription as Christmas present. According to the web site "Accompanying each box is a tasting guide, complete with information on the chocolate makers and bean origins, history of the various distilleries, extensive tasting notes, and an explanation of why each pairing has been chosen.".
Fortunately, I had the initial box delivered to myself rather than the recipient, There were no tasting notes.
On querying this I was told "Unfortunately this is an error on our site and we do not include tasting notes within our Whisky & Chocolate Subscriptions any longer."
Whilst I did receive a refund after returning the first box, I can't help wondering if this is just a way to use up some old whisky stock - if I had had the subscription sent direct to the intended recipient, they may not have been aware of the omission......
