classmates is a rip off

classmates is a rip off, I signed up 2 yrs ago for $30, with no notification they doubled my account to $60, I contacted them they said they sent out a notification, search my email history the last notification was 5/31/25 and no notification about price increase. I call customer no service and they said it was part of my subscription and was not refundable. I cancelled it before the year began, so I will be disputing the charge. stay away from Classmates.

Unannounced Subscription Payment

I just received a paid bill for TWO years of subscription even though I forgot to cancel it. When I contacted them, I was met with the standard answer. I didn't receive advance warning of the withdrawal, and they stated they don't give refunds. I now have a subscription for two years, not worth it, and can't do anything about it. Anyone thinking of joining please beware they are money hungry grubs and not there for customer service. I will never do business with them again and I suggest you don't for what you get.

Beware so careful before signing up wi Classmates.com

It appears Classmates.com sends emails to clients and embeds hidden subscription fees into correspondences.

This business practice speaks to me that money is a very focused, desperate goal for this business, and seeks to trick people by posting the hidden subscription fees. That is a shame.

Hopefully, Classmates.com will close its business doors,  or at least start to market their desperate quest for subscription fees openly and with honesty, without subterfuge to senior citizens.
I feel it important to alert the public about the ploy to pull “subscription” money without proper transparency and duping money from senior citizens,  that this needs to be shared with all the general consumers.

I hope to reach out to online platforms that Classmates.com will collect $96 from your account when not authorized, and refuse refunds and refuse further correspondences. Bad business.

Membership Billing Never Requested

I spent money for a new Year Book and got a used one with writing in it that cost $79.96 in 2024. In March of 2026 I was charged $96.00 for membership to Classmates. They initially refused to refund me for this so called membership that I never requested. This is being disputed and I posted to save anyone else from going through this misery!!

Supposed message from dead classmate

I never paid for any service, but I keep getting emails, which I now mark as spam (but they keep landing in my inbox anyway, ever since they claimed I had a message from a classmate who had been DEAD FOR DECADES.

Classmates Has Become Evil

I just want to add my 2 cents to the conversation here about grubby Classmates. For those of us who do not upgrade, Classmates has become a useless no man's land. Luckily, I have my yearbook, but it was easier to go the websites to look at the pictures. Classmates, you bums, you took away the one useful thing going.

AWFUL

AWFUL! THEY ARE RIPOFF ARTISTS. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD. THEY WILL KEEP CHARGING YOU. THEY DELUGE YOU WITH JUNK MAIL AND CALL THEIR OWN MESSAGES TO YOU NEW MAIL FROM A CLASSMATE. IF YOU WANT TO FIND A CLASSMATE, GOOGLE THEM AND SAVE THE HASSLE.

Tired of Subscriptions!

I used this site for years to look for people’s senior photos. Now I can’t see the images because you have to subscribe to a plan??? I can’t see many people actually paying for this site. Seems like a mistake to me!

I was scammed

I was scammed. I was delivered a message that I had a new visit. I joined since my 50 year reunion was due. There was a message from someone I stay in contact with, and I called her and she did not send any message. The message was hey boy.

Just wanted to look up my Grand parents…

Just wanted to look up my Grand parents and ever since being one the site, I now get 20 calls from scammers. They "sold" or "shared" my info and now my phone rarely stops ringing. I have to turn it off for days to get peace. Sent a message to them about scrubbing my account, said it might take 45 days FOR A DECISION on whether they will or not. Do NOT fall for this website!! It's ONLY for scammers.

Classmates.com is a huge rip-off and a SCAM!

On 1/24/2026, I rec'd email from Classmates.com charging me $96.00 for 2 year renewal membership. I had completely forgotten it was on automatic and emailed them for a refund. They absolutely refused telling me this is non-refundable. I'm sorry, but that's unacceptable. Also, why didn't they inform me ahead of time of upcoming renewal? As far as I'm concerned the way they operate this is a big SCAM and another way to rip off people. I see many others here are complaining of the same issue. Bad company.

We got charged $60 to renew service we didn't have.

We got charged $60 to renew a paid subscription we never had. My wife had been using the free, limited service only. There was no notice of a pending renewal, which violates their own published policy. Classmates has refused all requests for a refund. This company is just a scam.

They have auto billing you've got to watch out for. I just was charged $21.80 for a renewal I did want with NO REFUND! So "classmates" which sounds all cozy warm friendship is actually scamming you for money! Never again.

"Greed is Good"

They no longer allow users to view any yearbook pages without one of their paid subscription plans. Take the whole "fake messages" they claim you have, the scammy payment renewals, etc. aside.....them removing the access to view yearbook pages tells you everything you need to know about this money-hungry, greedy scumbags.

Big Ripoff

They set your account to auto-renew for two years ($96!), then if you ask to cancel and get a refund they absolutely refuse any refund. It's a scam and a ripoff.
