CIGNA fails every year when it comes to AEP. They consistly have hour + long wait time, underwriters do not perform swiftly or accurately. Changing their brand to HealthSpring is akin to putting lipstick on a pig......it's still a pig. CIGNA management refuses to improve their processes

ZERO STARS! SCAM
They deserve zero! BEWARE! They sent me an rx plan card in the mail. I was un enrolled from my Wellcare rx plan and they enrolled me in HealthSpring, which is affiliated w Cigna. Without my knowledge or consent!! I spent 4 hours on the phone; finally screaming and threatening a lawsuit against them before they informed me I got a cancellation number! Now I am stuck w having to re enroll in Wellcare and be accepted again or I will have zero coverage. Total SCAM!!!
If I could give a zero I would
If I could give a zero I would. Outsourced and you can’t understand them , they can’t understand you and mess things up royally!! Have no medical knowledge or sense or urgency . Don’t waste your money !!

No customer service
Website does not recognize our coverage or any record of 2025 claims. Wellness rewards program is inaccessible and no amount of phone time with non customer service helps resolve any issues.

DO NOT PURCHASE CIGNAS SUPPLEMENTAL PLANS. I have purchased all their plans being that I have Cigna through my employer. I have the same plans through 2 other companies. I had back surgery and turned a claim into my hospital indemnity, and accidental plan. The same documentation were turned in to all 3 plans. The other 2 Aflac and Colonial paid well with no problems. Cigna took 10 days to get an answer and it was denied. So unless you are just wanting to throw money away don’t purchase any of the supplemental plans.

The worst customer service
The worst customer service. They go through & waste your time & then they can’t help you and transfer you times three at least. They never help you. They are very hard to understand. I’m starting to think it’s a scam. They don’t wanna help you because they don’t wanna pay they hope you get annoyed and don’t call back. Perhaps they could regulate some of this so that it’s not sending all of this overseas and make insurance companies more accountable.

The informed department is a scam
The informed department is a scam. I have prostate cancer. These SOB people call me saying they can get me a cheaper and quicker appointment for CT and bone scan. The scum Ashley tells me she will take care of everything and will call me. Never called me, I called 4 times got different people and told that the appointment is not confirmed. Then they tell me to call my doctor. They were the ones to start this. Now I don’t have any appointments for my scan! These people are scum.

They deny claims for oral exams and cleanings if they were not at least 6 months between. So if it was 5 months and 2 weeks , they will deny the claim.

Cigna for dental is total GARBAGE!
Have Cigna for dental. They falsely advertised what was covered and then when it comes time to work with them for dental work, they deny coverage and payments. So I was sold a policy they said one thing and does another and now stuck again for 2026 when it doesn't help me at all. I found better coverage with a private company and would still be forced to pay for both. Cigna like most healthcare companies have not learned from Blue cross Blue shield events and it's sad they got scared and then screwed people with coverage over and over. Especially considering the federal government subsidizes healthcare companies to the tune of 90% which is proven fact! Cigna profits twice and then refuses payout.

don't get cigna for your companies or self
Not the best. They used to be easy to work with now they put a lot of red tapes just for a GOP. Imagine the result already shared that it doesnt make sense for me to go through a conservative treatment and yet they're asking for conservative treatment report before I undergo surgery.

Cigna Medicare products have been sold and the new company is awful!!! No website access - rep told me 98% of customers have this issue with no ETA for fixing, eobs not mailed, can only be faxed. What??? Reps have no idea how to look up claims, website address on cards is incorrect but no plans to issue corrected cards. Transferred from rep to rep with no one able to answer questions. Horrible service and apparently no plan to fix.

Worst insurer, opaque processes
As many have pointed out, even getting approval for pre-planned surgery and hospitalization is an ordeal. The clinic is on our company’s panel, yet they had to contact me repeatedly to chase Cigna for authorization. Up until the day of my surgery, literally when I was in my gown and asked to go down to the counter, the hospital staff told me they still hadn’t received approval/GOP. Thankfully, I had an email confirmation (though not the official GOP document, because of course why would cigna make anyone’s life easy), which the hospital accepted and agreed to follow up on. It was an unnecessary layer of stress on top of an already stressful situation.
More recently, there was another baffling episode. Cigna requested a cost breakdown for a health screening package, even though the invoice already listed all included items. They specifically wanted the individual cost of the stress ECG treadmill test for some reason. After I went through the trouble of getting it (the clinic provided the ala carte add-on pricing), they then excluded that test from my claim, stating it wasn’t “a necessity.”
This makes zero sense for several reasons:
1. It was a package, and I didn’t specifically opt in for that treadmill test.
2. I did the exact same health screening last year without any issue.
3. The package itself is named “CIGNA Platinum” with Fullerton—clearly a partnership.
4. Just based on common sense, a package is meant to be cheaper than adding up all ala carte prices of tests done. Who in their right mind excludes a claim based off ala carte pricing when what I did was a PACKAGE.
5. It is going to be the same price regardless I opt out or in for anything in the package, because, it.is.a.package.

I don't understand the bad reviews
I don't understand the bad reviews. My experience has been nothing but positive for the most part. I have been going through cancer treatment which we all know is not cheap. Cigna has paid for every single treatment, test and surgery that I have had. They have also covered medical supplies and prescriptions.
The only reason I took off a star is because of a recent incident. A Cigna rep took it upon themselves to tell my doctor's office that my coverage was ending when it's not. I'm in the process of transitioning my coverage to a Cobra program. I realize that Cigna had no way of knowing that, but that is precisely why they shouldn't have contacted my doctor.
I would still use them again.
They suck
They suck! They make you get prior authentication for things other insurance companies cover without a hassle.

Worst customer service I have ever had
Worst customer service I have ever had. Over the counter website sent my products to an address that is not on my profile and they won't do anything to remedy it. Says I should have checked the address before submitting, it did not give me that option. When I call and talk to someone they are like robots, no help. There system does not make mistakes, omg! Horrible service. Changing this year.

Cigna Medicare advantage plans are the absolute worst! They deny so many claims or pay very little. When I had Cigna this was the case. They actually paid 18 cents on a claim of several hundred dollars. I filed an appeal, but they rejected it (surprise surprise)
Good health insurer in SW Florida
I used Cigna for my primary health insurance in SW Florida in 2021 and was very happy with them. Good selection of quality doctors, labs and hospitals without any issues when claims were submitted by my doctors. I would use them again.

LEAVE Cigna/EverNorth
I eagerly await when I can LEAVE Cigna/EverNorth Health. Their rep Finally heard what I repeatedly and adamantly explained.
Both of us filed complaints and the letter I received was a repeat of what's found online vs. addressing my specific issues. (Their robotic staff continues responding by sending the same messages .)
It's despicable to pre-pay the total medical bill then a few hours later at the pickup counter being told an additional amount must be paid to get one's meds.
WARNING: They sound affordable but unexpected bills are sure to show up!
