Review

Review: Chivas 12 – A Modern Icon with a Missing Soul?
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
Platforms: Trustpilot / Google Reviews
The Review:
As an 80s kid who grew up in Leme, São Paulo, Chivas was the gold standard—the bottle you saved for. Back then, it was distinct, not just for the liquid, but for the Horse on the label. To the purists, that horse represented a certain galloping spirit and heritage.
The Critique: Where did the horse go?
Looking at the current bottle, the redesign is sleek and "sustainable," but the absence of that classic equine emblem feels like a loss of character. In a world of minimalist branding, we’ve traded the "Regal" grit for a tall, slim silhouette.
The Suggestion: A Purple Future
Since 2026 is the Year of the Fire Horse, this is the perfect moment for Chivas to look back at its roots. Purple is the color of royalty, the future, and—according to Chinese zodiac guidance—one of the luckiest colors for the Horse. A "Purple Horse" limited edition would bridge the gap between that 1980s nostalgia and the modern urban vibe they are chasing.
Personal Note:
Today is my birthday (Feb 28). I’m celebrating by drinking this the same way I did years ago in Brazil: Neat. No Coca-Cola. Just the whisky. While the blend remains a smooth Speyside classic with those honey and apple notes, a bit of that old-school "horse power" on the label would make the experience truly complete.

Bullying Chivas Lorry Driver

I was driving home last night in heavy rush hour traffic from Glasgow just after 6pm,10th October joining the M8 at Junction 21 heading South.
One of your lorries was tailgating me, blaring his horn at me every time I didn't instantly inch forward at the same time as the car in front.
None of us could go anywhere, or move any faster, so this was just a case of bullying.
He intimidated me to the point I stalled my engine and he again blared his horn.
When we finally got moving, I felt I had to take a video as this is unnacceptable behaviour when driving a large lorry.
I'm a retired lady in my 60's and drive a low saloon, so it was quite frightening to have such a large truck looming over me with a driver who obviously has anger issues.
His reg was SL24 GBX.
Posting here as there is no direct email to either Chivas Brothers Dumbarton or Glasgow. Complaints go to the global head office in France.

I don't even understand how people can…

I don't even understand how people can easily name this the worst whiskey. I think it all depends on your taste preferences. If you're a bourbon guy, it is understandable that you will not enjoy a blended scotch. Some people say it is too smoky, some people say it is too sweet. I dunno, I like it so much, especially with club soda, or neat, or on the rocks. The Teneessee whiskey or the bourbon for example are not quite for my cup of tea. And in terms of the blended scotch, i think Chivas is one of the nicest things money can buy. You don't even have to go up to the royal salute or anything. just the entry version chivas 12 would suffice.
