Worst customer service I have ever…

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. They told me a year ago that my subscription was canceled and have been still charging me since. They refuse to refund me for the $200 dollars they stole from me. This website is a scam and should not be trusted.

Sonnet to Chegg, The Peddler of Vague Lore

When I did seek a humble aid in math,
And typed but “math,” anon did Chegg proclaim,
“Behold a puzzle sprung from shadowed path,
Though thou didst not ask, it’s here by name!”

Yet when I craved to see the secrets told,
A fortress barred mine eyes with steely gate,
“Pay gold!” quoth they, “for knowledge bought and sold,
Or suffer thus to languish in thy fate.”

O Chegg, thou art a jester dressed in guise,
Thy answers blind, thy help but fleeting jest,
A costly maze where wisdom’s path denies,
And students’ coins flow freely from their chest.

If truth and aid thou truly wouldst provide,
Then drop thy mask, and drop the costly pride.

Bad service offering

The company always acknowledges its errors and bad quality of work. But they don't take the next step to fix their problems. Since, it's a subscription based-service, they have created a policy to avoid refunding subscribers when things go wrong and expectations are not met.

Never ever use them if it truly matters that you get your book

Wishing I could put all that happened, because it was even worse than this review. I'm hoping these are at least salient enough points. I ordered a 2 volume set for my rotation, which is only 4 weeks long. I can't order before I have a syllabus, so I ordered when I could. They sent me vol. 1, even though the order says vol. 1&2, so I know I didn't mess it up. They did. I got the book late Thursday night, too late to contact them. So I contacted them Friday morning. I was told I would my answer either Saturday or Monday.

I contact on Monday, after waiting all day just to give them time. I hadn't heard anything back. I was told I would have to wait another 72 hours to hear back. Not 72 hours to get vol 2, not 72 hours with a tracking number. 72 hours for them to figure out where my order even was. The representative was rude as well. So this review isn't pages long, I will just say that she not only wouldn't let me speak to anyone else, Matte said she had made a point of putting notes on my account to ensure no one else would try to help me either.

I finally waited long enough that she had clocked out, and the next person I spoke with said it wasn't Chegg I was supposed to speak with. It was Valore, but when I contacted them, they said Chegg, who said it's Valore, etc. At that point, I was more curious to see if anyone would even make an effort, but Matte made good on her word. No one even tried. I had already ordered from somewhere else by then.

But now I had the predicament of returning a book in a city I don't know because I'm on an away rotation. The label they sent wasn't set up for pick up, even though UPS comes to this building daily. I asked if they would do that, and they said no, I had to figure it out, even though it's a "hassle". Otherwise, I can expect to be charged for a rental when I never actually received my book.

I have multiple times asked who I can talk to as a level of support above these representatives. Either they are working under no management (which is semi-believable given what happened), or they are rogue employees who, b/c of distance, know it is hard to get beyond them. I will likely head to the BBB next, not because it necessarily has teeth, but because I have to do all I can to protect other people. There is no consequence to them for a failure at every possible level. It's us end users.

Valore's association taints them for me now. I can't work with companies that I can't rely on *and* have no mechanism to deal with rectifying their mistakes.

They charge you for months and months…

They charge you for months and months and years on end even when you CANCELLED your subscription. I cancelled back in 2022 and my card has been charged this entire time, yet they say they can't do anything about it. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!

Non existent customer support. Lip service.

This is a waste of time. 3 months to try to rectify a sync issue between app and website. Their solution. Empty cache clear cookies. And take this issue seriously and are working hard to rectify it.BS. phoned 4 times. Same excuses, canceled it. Inept support with dumb techs or they don't care. Take your pick. Wish I could give negative stars.

There are less scammy sites out there

Tried to cancel, but my account shows no subscriptions, texted them on the customer service and they agreed there were no subscriptions on my account, they then asked for the last 4 digits of my card no so they could check it, but can't even tell me if it will take hours or weeks to sort out.

Charging me even after cancellation

Chegg is still charging me for a subscription that has been cancelled. To the point where I need to change my card details to stop them. Basically no customer service to talk to as nobody even responds back when you use their phone number provided. Don't risk it, just used Chat GPT for your citation needs and researching.

False advertising, and no integrity

I found a book online that I need a desperately being advertised by Chegg. The book they have listed for $19.99. I went on their site to buy it and what happened was I had to open an account to even look and then once I open the account of course I couldn’t find the book for that price instead of $19.99. They want $65. I took pictures of the ad that they had a listed for $19.99 and I sent it to them requesting that they would do the right thing in honor that advertisement they had up. And they rudely refused me. I showed them that I even took a picture of the ad for the book for $19.99 and they continue to rudely refuse me the price listed.

If I could give them a lower rating I would. They are charging me for books that I did not order and did not receive. After two hours on the phone, they are still charging me. One is a Biology book (and we all know how expensive those are) and I didn't even take Biology.

Chegg is a waste of money and possibly a scam. I used to use chegg for exam revision and the answers were great and useful but now everything's different. They flag expert asked questions as breaking the code of honor and refuse to refund tokens even though the questions submitted were in the exact same manor as previously submitted and answered. Not worth the money.

High Recommend for Electricians Course Help

I searched all over the Web after my current Electrical course module did not have any wording on Double Pole Fusing and Chat GPT didn't have the correct answer too. Chegg, with an explanation to help me learn, had the correct answer. Very happy Chegg has this and I have subscribed for a month (£9) to help with my next few modules. I've now used their A.I. to explain on several questions that I have found it impossible to research in the course contents books and on Web Searches. For my Electrical course Chegg has been brilliant so far! Thank you! Highly recommend for my type of course City & Guilds Electrician)
