Several Trades people responded
Several Trades people responded, but only one actually came to view and quote for the work. His quote was for a budget job without scaffolding which suited me fine. Seeing his previous reviews on Checkatrade gave me the confidence give him the GoAhead and I'm pleased I did.

Do not use checkatrade
I used Checkatrade to find a builder for a porch replacement and paid a £2,500 deposit. After payment, the builder failed to start the work, no materials were delivered, and their profile disappeared.
I contacted Checkatrade expecting more support, but was disappointed with the response. I received an apology, but was informed that I was not covered for the deposit that had been taken. I was shocked to learn thier £1000 guarantee only cover poor work and not anything else
My experience has left me feeling that consumers should be aware that using a trader found through Checkatrade does not necessarily provide protection if a deposit is taken and the trader fails to carry out the work.
I would encourage anyone using the platform to carefully check what protections are and are not available before paying a deposit.

I found a local roofer to replace some guttering from the advertising leaflet that came through my door. I don’t usually pay heed to such junk mail through the letterbox but Checkatrade is perfectly legit. And the guy was brilliant!

Lewis was great with his communication before coming to do the job.
On a very hot day in a kitchen he got on with a more difficult job than first thought. He achieved a great result and the cupboard is fixed. We would certainly use him again.

Door hanging.
The team came on time and offered good value for hanging the 6 doors requested. They worked hard and I'm really pleased with everything and how the new doors look. They also made sure everything was clean and tidy bwfore they left. Would recommend.

Professional, Reliable and Friendly
This was the second time I have had Scott complete work in my home and once again he did a fantastic job. He communicates well through email and always turns up when he says he will. He is polite and friendly, respectful of your home and tidies up after the job is completed.
