Not a good selling experience

From my experience, steer away from this company if selling items.
I sent a box load of signed covers etc which I was told would be assessed and I would be notified of the expected value. I heard nothing until my items were sold, some at a price that if I'd known I would have asked to be returned. Ho hum, you live and learn.
The next saga was trying to get the payment for the sale of my items. Having supplied my bank details I received a small payment. It took several emails and a phone call before I received the outstanding balance. I was told that the finance officer was taken ill and there was a backlog of payment. I pointed out that this was their problem, not mine.
Thankfully all dealings with them now seems complete but they would now be the last place I would go to sell items.

This was a good experience of buying

This was a good experience of buying. The items were delivered relatively quickly. I was emailed after the auction was able to pay straight away via bank transfer. The only slight negative was a lack of communication on whether my payment had been accepted and whether the pictures were dispatched. However, they did arrive in good time, approximately 5 days after the auction finished

Did not receive the items I paid for, got junk instead.

I bid on an MMA memorabilia auction and won. When I received my items they were NOT the items in the photos of their auction. I received a bunch a low-quality junk instead. When I notified them thru paypal they said the would replace it if I shipped the items back. (Mind you I'm in the USA) I asked to know what they would send in replacement, and that they cover the return shipping and they never responded. I feel like I was scammed.

I used to buy quite a lot of autographs…

I used to buy quite a lot of autographs - all good, genuine items in my opinion.
More recently Ive become suspcious about authenticity.
A couple weeks ago I bought a few 10x8" TV and film photos signed. Obv they are online so i cant see them and they fan the pictures out so not clear to view.
I bought in that purchase around 30 in different lots and the MAJORITY of them are preprints or photocopies of the originals, when I have them to hand it is clear to see that. So they are worthless, i couldve printed them off the internet. (With photos signed in silver or gold pen or biro - you can FEEL that they are phtocopies or prints as there is no texture where the signature is - shame they arent listing things honestly more frequently)
I also bought a collection of signed soap cards - Chaucer usually say "printed" if not handsigned - this job lot i bought, said "signed" no mention of "printed" but every one of them was a pre print.
Thirdly I bought a mixed lot and having checked the autographs on line, 5 out of 10 look nothing like numerous examples of the actual autograph - just pen squiggles. Will stick to autograph book pages in the future as the quality of "genuune handsigned" has dropped dramatically.

Cheap cheerful but disorganised.

Cheap and cheerful but disorganised. You can grab good deals as they race through auction items quickly, often repeatedly. What annoys me about Chaucer is they are sloppy - often the photo of the item is a “stock” photo of a similar item they may have multiple similar but not identical items to auction. So you may not receive exactly what you bid for. Isn’t that worrying? I’ve won an item and received a similar one to the listing photo. Also receive without COA, so have to then chase for the COA (debatable if actually worth the paper it’s printed on so better to get a separate LOA for high value items). If you use the past search function it’s easy to spot similar photos for supposedly different lots - so this seems to be regular issue. At first this put me off bidding as I thought seeing two identical items must mean these were obvious be copies rather than just a sloppy listing. But on the flip side the BP is lower than other houses (20% vs 30-35%) and they’re quick to dispatch items with very reasonable postage and packaging prices.

Highly recommended

It was obviously the proper choice to use Chaucer Auctions. I appreciate how simple and expertly you made things for me. I was pleased with the marketing, the quantity of images you captured of the auction items, and thorough accounting of the selling prices.

A waste of time.

I phoned and asked for a valuation and was advised to send the items. 6 months later, having made about 20 phone calls, with numerous promises from them, the items remain unsold and I have not once been contacted. I do not know what reserve was suggested, if they even went into an auction. The only good thing I can say is that once I got to desperation stage, they have at least returned the items but what a waste of time and effort.

Chaucer Covers/ Chaucer Auctions / Chaucer Collections Spam Email Addresses — AVOID

This shambolic company which goes by the name of Chaucer Auctions, Chaucer Covers or Chaucer Collections continue to spam my email address even though:

1. I never registered with them
2. I clicked the 'unsubscribe' link on their email

I have emailed them twice to request they stop spamming me however they haven't bothered to reply. I was going to call but the only phone number listed on their budget website is a premium rate 0845 number.
