My experience with Catering Hygiene Specialists has been extremely disappointing and has left me with little confidence in the value of the warranty offered on the equipment they sell.
I purchased a commercial gas fryer through my limited company and, unfortunately, the equipment suffered a failure within the warranty period. The fault was identified as a failed thermostatic safety valve, a critical safety component of the appliance.
During the warranty claim process, I provided photographs and details showing exactly where and how the fryer was installed. An engineer was then dispatched to attend site.
Only after the engineer attended was I informed that the manufacturer would not honour the warranty due to concerns regarding the installation environment. CHS then retained my warranty deposit and charged me for the call-out.
What I find unacceptable is that all relevant information had already been provided before the engineer was sent. Had those details been reviewed and discussed with the manufacturer at the outset, the engineer would never have attended and the associated costs would never have been incurred.
Despite repeatedly raising this point, CHS have refused to accept any responsibility whatsoever. Their position is effectively that they have already been invoiced by the manufacturer and therefore the customer must pay, regardless of the fact that the information leading to the warranty rejection was available before the visit took place.
Even more concerning is that the appliance did in fact have a genuine fault and that fault occurred during the warranty period. This was not a case of user error resulting in a needless call-out. A safety-critical component had failed. Yet the focus quickly shifted away from resolving the defect and onto denying warranty support and retaining the deposit.
The most disappointing aspect has been the complete lack of commercial fairness or willingness to consider the circumstances. At no stage was any meaningful attempt made to acknowledge that the installation details had been disclosed in advance or that a simple review of the information provided could have prevented the entire situation.
Prospective buyers should carefully consider whether any apparent saving on purchase price is worth the potential risk if something goes wrong. In my case, equipment that failed within the warranty period was ultimately not supported, and I was left disputing call-out charges that could have been avoided had the information already provided been properly reviewed.
I would strongly recommend obtaining explicit written confirmation of warranty eligibility, installation requirements, and any exclusions before purchasing equipment or requesting warranty support.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Catering Hygiene Specialists and would not purchase equipment from them again.

sammic hand chipper faulty no warranty
Bought sammic hand chipper from them, I do understand thy are not producing the items (middle man ) same time there job is to represent customers and challenge manufacture issues unfortunately the warranty isn’t really warranty in my opinion , I had same chipper before from them lasted 4 years this time around Handel come out after couple of months they suggested I can buy new Handel for £130 and install it myself , or send it back to manufacturer on my expense and if they decide isn’t there fault I have to pay labour and parts and probably they will come out with some excuse not to fix it , sad how bit corporation just use small businesses

They did appear to do a good job of cleaning the commercial cooker hood. They also fitted an inspection hatch. But left noise insulation hanging off, half removed. The state they left the site in was disgraceful. Which made me question the rest of the work. They also got the invoice wrong.

I had a terrible experience with this catering hygiene specialist, and I strongly advise others to steer clear. From the outset, their customer service was appalling; they displayed a complete lack of manners and seem to have no intention of solving issues. To make matters worse, even before receiving my order, I was informed that if I decided to return it, a massive restocking charge would apply. This feels like an unfair tactic to ensure they can charge customers regardless of the situation. There are plenty of great catering companies out there that prioritize customer care—do yourself a favor and avoid this one at all cost!
