Classic Airer
We purchased a classic airer with wall mounting as a house warming gift for our daughter. The quality of the product is excellent and the styling is perfect for her Edwardian flat. There were some issues which caused me to behave out of character; when it became obvious that most of the issues were caused by the recipient (!), not the manufacturer, I was made to look very daft! Our response must have been a Customer Service nightmare and yet they remained professional and helpful throughout. I owe them a public apology - sorry. Sadly, we are getting used to companies who are tardy and slack. ‘Cast in Style’ is NOT one of these and I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for sorting everything

When is a black swan doorstop not a doorstop, when it has to lean on the door!
I purchased a black swan doorstop. It was half price and did say seconds. Seconds mean defects but this door stop is NOT A DOORSTOP as it can't stand up. If the door moves slightly in the wind, it falls over which is dangerous as it is heavy and should not be sold at all for safety reasons. Instead, they should be returned to the country / place of origin responsible for this defect. Obviously BASIC casting skills have been overlooked. I contacted customer service immediately who informed me, it did state, somewhere, they were "seconds" because they fall over! This is more than a second, it is not functional.

Charged £17.54 for a return for a product I never received
I ordered a pulley maid. It took them 10 days to even dispatch it. Only when I called the customer service team 10 days after the order did they send any details about the dispatch or explain the delay. If it had been mentioned on the website that it would take 16 days in total for delivery, I would have paid extra for delivery. I was going to take the product to France but it didn't arrive in time. I requested a return given the delivery hadn't even been made and I hhad already left. They processed this but failed to mention that the return would cost me £17.54. So I have no pulley maid, which I had carefully ordered with 2.5 weeks to go AND they charged me £17.54 for the pleasure. The customer service representative never once offered any apology, in fact she was combative and defensive from the outset. How incredibly disappointing.

I'm sorry you had this experience, but due to the current energy crisis we experienced an unprecedented number of people ordered clothes airers. We did put a huge note on the web site in a big red box to say we had a delay dispatching them and this was right under the price and on every stage of the checkout. I'm sorry you didn't see this. Our guys have been working incredibly hard to get everybody's orders built and sent. They have been working over the weekends and staying late to try to keep up. There was the opportunity to order on express delivery but you chose not to do this for a few pounds more. We have been using 5 times the normal amount of wood and this meant our wood supplier also couldn't keep up with demand. All the way from the guys cutting the trees for the wood. The amazing chaps at the timber yard making our laths. The incredible guys in the foundry casting the iron ends, Mick our power coater for colouring all the parts. Mark, Simon, Ady and Dillion for assembly and packing, let alone our rope makers, fixing suppliers and cardboard box people, all who are needed to get this out to you on time. I'm sorry we all failed you. Oh there is also the courier ( who actually charged us £27 to have your parcel returned back to us), we tried to be helpful by paying some of this for you, despite you letting us know literally 1 hour before it was delivered to you. We're all sorry !!

Mouldy wood and unsupportive customer service
I am very disappointed in both the products and the customer service from Cast in Style.
We bought a clothes airer to dry our baby's nappies. Two months after starting using the airer, mould patches started appearing on the wood. Our airer is installed in a sunlit room, right under a large radiator and dehumidifier, and the room comes with its own extractor fan and our house is brand new so there is no prior mould.
I emailed the company about it and their reply was a) you need to bleach your wooden bars then sand them down b) let your wooden bars dry out between uses.
For a clothes airer, I expected the wooden bars to have been treated for damp. I expected the wood to be able to withstand wet laundry, without all the drying support we have in place in that room, and certainly, I expected it to last longer than 2 months.
As a client, I would have expected a little bit more support. But there was no apologies coming from their side and their was no warranty in place. Their goods are just poor quality. There were also lots of spelling mistakes in their email. I expected a bit more care in their reply.
We went for their brand because we wanted to avoid modern chemicals or plastics, and yet we were advised to spray regularly with bleach. Then we are lectured by their customer service that wood is a natural product.
In short, it is a rip off.

Terrible product & awful customer service
I have been severely let down by this company. The product was not fit for purpose and then when I contacted the customer services team to make them aware of the issue they subsequently took two months to come back to me with no satisfactory resolution. I have tried to phone to discuss the issue but the individuals who I need to speak to are either 'working from home without access to a telephone' or are 'in meetings'.

The company offered a derisory refund offer of £50 on a £300 product which is not fit for purpose. The offer of a replacement part was not a realistic option as it still would have the same fundamental flaw of the original part. Having explored my options to pursue the issue further it was clear that it was going to be more hassle than it was worth and therefore I reluctantly accepted the refund. By no means was this a satisfactory outcome and I am a very unhappy customer who will never use this company again.

We explained to the customer that the post boxes are not fully rain proof, however, we offered to send a replacement back door or issue a partial refund. The customer refused both options and then placed this review. We are unsure as to what more we could offer as we offered to replace the part he was having issues with. They wanted to speak to Management on the phone, however, they are not always available which is why we have other members of our team that take phone calls. They are always available to reach through email which we explained to the customer. After all this, the customer is now accepting a partial refund that we originally offered.
Unacceptable delays and terrible customer service
We are still awaiting delivery of an order of a custom post box which was placed over 6 months ago. When we placed the order we were told 12-14 weeks but it has now been over double that. We have had no updates, no apologies and have had to keep chasing the company just to be given loads of excuses. I get the impression they have no control over their ability to fulfil orders. For a very expensive item (almost £500) this is completely unacceptable. Do yourself a favour and AVOID THIS COMPANY!

We do massively apologise for the delay with your postbox, however, we have contacted you several times with updates on your order. It was only yesterday when you had notified us that you had put the wrong email on your order - thus meaning you weren't receiving our emails. We definitely agree that the lead times aren't suitable, however, we disagree on the customer service part as we have been keeping in touch, we weren't to know that the email address you gave us was wrong.
Unfortunately the excuses we are giving you are all real - The foundry that make these post boxes have come across problem after problem due to Covid related situations, all things that cannot be predicted and therefore delaying every single order they have.
We understand how frustrating this is - it is frustrating on our behalf as well as we obviously do not want any order to be delayed! However, this is something completely out of our control, we cannot speed up the foundry's process of making these products. If they rushed, you would then receive a product that would not be up to standards.
The delays from this foundry is not something that is being done on purpose - They are genuine delays and they are doing absolutely everything they physically can to get each order out whilst maintaining a high quality of the product. We have even taken the post boxes off our website so that foundry can focus on the orders that they have outstanding.
We apologise again for this, but please be assured the foundry are honestly doing the best they physically can - and we have no control over any delays that occur.
When you ordered your post box, there was a note on the website to say that due to Covid, all lead times were a rough estimate and may go over.
Unacceptable lead times on order fulfilment
I am still waiting for a customised post box which I ordered late in 2020. I had no word from the company until I started querying in the middle of April about the status of the order. Since then, I have had many excuses, but no word of when the product will be done and when I can expect to receive it. I now realise that this company acts merely as an agent for a foundry that takes its own sweet time about fulfilling orders. Since I paid in full at the time of ordering, I feel very cheated by this company and would not recommend using it.

WARNING: Poorly engineered and dangerous
I should imagine many of the products this company sells are of a good quality. However, the "KITCHEN MAID® CLOTHES AIRER WALL SUPPORT BRACKET" is poor. The bracket is designed like a shelf bracket, despite the fact that half the load is distributed horizontally - so pulling the bracket sideways. There is no backplate distributing this load - so it pulled part of my wall down. Cast in Style were not interested in my concerns and would not even refund (despite considerable costs for wall repair). I am sure they will say they have never had problems - but frankly i think this design is dangerous and someone could have been really hurt. So please look very carefully at the safety of products from this company.

As we had explained on the phone to you, we have been selling our support bracket for years and they have been designed specifically for supporting our pulley clothes airers. In all the years we have been selling them, they have been a top product and we have had no issues with them. If they were a 'dangerous' product as you call them, we would have immediately stopped selling them and redesigned them. Our brackets are only unsuitable if incorrect fixings are used and we make it clear on our website that the buyer is responsible for sourcing their own fixings. If they haven't been fitted correctly then, like any wall mounted product, it won't hold. However, if fitted correctly then no issues occur.
