We rented a fine car (Toyota Corolla) from Carwiz in Katowice from 4 - 6 June 2026. Our friend made the reservation using his credit card. When we picked up the car, he was unable to pay the rental and deposit via that credit card because the word "credit" was missing on it and his full first names were not on the credit card. We checked our own credit cards from various Dutch banks, and none of them had their full first names! As a solution, an extra insurance policy of €90 was offered, and then our friend was able to pay everything (the original amount plus this extra insurance) with the same credit card. Smells like a scam! We had no choice; we were about 2 km from the airport, with all the lugage, no other rentfirm in this area. We never ever work together with Carwitz again!
Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing experience. I was left without a car in the middle of the night, which caused significant inconvenience and stress. When I asked to speak with a manager, no support or assistance was provided. Customer service was unhelpful, and I felt completely abandoned when I needed help the most. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.
Unable to contact shuttle service
Unable to contact shuttle service . Waited 50 minutes for it to arrive. Wrong meeting point given in email information. Wouldn’t accept my credit card .i have been in touch with Customer service -who are a waste of time . Never again !
Fraud!!!
Fraud!!!!
We landed at 10. The guy lied to us and told us we need an international driving permit. Ryanair told us we don’t. Ryanair tried calling him but he didn’t pick up the phone. We had to pay 300 euros and all of a sudden we didn’t need the international permit anymore. I have a full uk license btw. Ryanair said he was lying and a complaint has been raised. Hopefully they will investigate and get him removed from the approved car rental people.
I should have checked the reviews before booking. Also they lied about insurance and stuff and tried to claim that I don’t have insurance and stuff and that I need to buy insurance. Mind insurance is always covered in the rental already.
Just stay away from these bas*****s
I lost £102
I rented through Ryanair - the flight was delayed by two hours - when I eventually got to the car rental office they demanded an extra Euro 270 saying I’d missed my pick up window. They told me to call Ryanair as they are the intermediary. The Ryanair number was not manned I tried to call it ten times. I eventually gave up and rented from alternative car hire firm. I will never book car hire through Ryanair ever again.
FRAUD!
FRAUD!
Extremly bad service:
'The boss likes me so I can do whatever I want'
A complete scam
A complete scam. They’ll tell you leave a positive review for fees and costs to be voided and charge you those fees regardless and decline what they had originally stated. Pay the extra money for the big name rental dealerships to save yourself money and a headache in the long run.
Travelling from Australia to the UK for…
Travelling from Australia to the UK for the first time- we went with Car Wiz booking a mid size SUV ( Kia Sportage) on arrival at the depot off site from Heathrow AP.
We got to London from Paris via the high speed train during a heat wave in May/June to have the underground rail break down and put the pressure on us newbies to a foreign country, but we got there and were met by Moses who was great at getting us underway and into an upgraded car ( a Peugeot 3008 GT hybrid) which was a beautiful vehicle.
We had a wonderful 13 or so days around the UK and returned to drop off on a Saturday afternoon.
A scrape was found on the rear bumper which we didn’t notice until they pointed it out and compared the before and after pictures. But since we had taken the additional Carwiz insurance option we were fully covered.
It was good to have the same staff at both contact points and Moses was actually interested in making our trip and experience as smooth and comfortable as he was able to.
Carwiz charged me for scratches 1200…
Carwiz charged me for scratches 1200 euros. Scratches that probably were there already but covered in dust and I did not notice them when I picked the car in Bologna. To note that I rented a Fiat 500 not a Bentley! And scratches were very tiny and unnoticeable.
Forget this company they are scammers
Make Sure you have an American Express Card!
When collecting my car from Catania–Fontanarossa Airport Sicily I was told that my MBNA credit card was not a credit card and that I would have to pay an extra charge, even though I had purchased the extra insurance via EasyJet. After showing the agent that I did have extra cover they still insisted this was not ok and that they wouldn't release the car unless I paid the extra charges.
To me this seemed very dishonest, they insisted that my credit card was not a credit card so couldn't take a security deposit, and the only way around this was to purchase further cover!.
They offered me a discount from €250 to €150 and happily took payment from my "non" credit card. A very poor experience!, the car it's self was fine, clean and full of fuel, I have complained to EasyJet who have refunded my AXA cover as it wasn't used which is a small win.
I give it 0 star
I give it 0 star. But have to give 1. Biggest scheme ive ever seen. You book it. You get off site. Then you get charged 100 to 300 dollars to take their insurance plan
We live in MN. Have the highest auto insurance rates in country. Full coverage but allegedly not enough. Charges us 110. To cover a "gap" Absolutely horseshit. What gap? They rig it sp you get off site. Have to pay additional money so they can pocket it or your screwed. Then they charge a 500$ deposit for a car with damage to it. 500$ Never seem anything like this racket. Must be ran by the mob. Anyone flying into TB. Pay the extra for rental at airport. You wont get scammed out of your money.
I may discount bungee jump, but I'll never rent from CarWiz again
We rented from Carwiz at Tampa International Airport for Memorial Day week. The car was great; a clean late model Toyota Camry with low miles. Below are five pieces of information from our experience with Carwiz you'll want before using them.
1. Carwiz is NOT on the airport with the other rental car agencies. The online page I rented the car on probably stated that; I just didn't look closely enough, so I'll take the blame for this one. The company runs a shuttle from the airport to their lot. Time spent waiting for the shuttle and on the shuttle for the ride to the lot took a half hour. Not too bad as long as you're aware of this and plan for it.
2. When I made the reservation online, I entered 4PM for arrival time; but we didn't arrive until 5:50PM (almost two hours late). I was informed that the rental rate for 4PM pick-ups was not valid at 5:50PM and that our new price would be $440. Having rented cars for 40 years without having encountered such a policy, I was very unhappy. But knowing that the 19 year old clerk behind the counter was just implementing company policy and could do nothing about it, we paid the new rate. Side note; I hope the kids behind the counter are well paid, because I know that they must endure a lot of abuse from unhappy customers over this company policy.
3. When we returned the car a week later I was asked if I'd filled it up and cleaned it. I was told that at pick up I was informed that I must bring the car back in the condition which I picked it up, and that that included washing and vacuuming. Of course I filled it up with gas just a few blocks away, but in 40 years of renting cars had never heard of having to wash and vacuum the car myself. They said that there would be an extra charge for cleaning the car.
4. At drop off I was also informed that they would put a $250 charge on the card I rented with and that I'd get it back in two weeks if they determined that I had gotten no tickets, had no wreck, was never towed, had no unpaid tolls, etc... Doing the post-mortem on the vacation credit card expenses this morning online, I see that they didn't add a $250 charge, but a $350 charge! I'm expecting they'll keep some for washing and vacuuming. From what I've seen so far I'm also expecting to be docked for a missing front driver's floor mat (which wasn't there when I picked up the car) and $25 for every toll both I used (even though I paid for toll coverage at pick up).
5. They don't take Capital One cards, which I tried to pay with. (this too may have been stated on the page I rented from... I didn't read it closely, so this may also be my fault)
Outrageous as this all is, our $150 reservation may end up costing $940; The non-refundable $150 for the original reservation, $440 for the new rate, $350 they charged for incidentals. Our means is such that this is but an annoyance. I genuinely feel for the families for whom the $150 was already at the limit of their budget; as this would grenade their whole vacation.
If you choose CarWiz (at least at Tampa Internation), proceed with extreme caution.
Horrible
My experience with CARWIZ was very disappointing.
My flight actually arrived earlier than expected, however due to an extremely long queue at the rental desk, I had to wait around 90 minutes before reaching the counter. Despite this delay being completely outside of my control, CARWIZ demanded an additional 70 EUR “after-hours” fee and refused to hand over the vehicle unless I paid it.
I consider this highly unfair and misleading, especially since the delay was caused by the rental company’s own processing time and queue management.
In addition, I was later charged 15 EUR for car cleaning even though the vehicle was returned in clean condition, and no evidence or photos were provided.
To make matters worse, the car was provided with almost no fuel in the tank, forcing me to stop for refueling immediately after picking up the vehicle.
Avoid this company at all costs!!!
Avoid this company at all costs. Staff are extremely rude. They try to force additional insurance and packages onto elderly people. They force additional charges onto you even if you have proof of damages. Do not hire here!!!
Hidden trap: Arbitrary €415 charge for a minor scratch despite buying CDW+ insurance
Unacceptable experience with Carwiz Malta. I booked a car through Booking.com but decided to upgrade and purchase the extra CDW+ insurance directly at the Carwiz counter for full peace of mind. Upon returning the vehicle, they arbitrarily charged me the outrageous amount of €415 for a minor, superficial scratch, completely ignoring the premium insurance I had paid for. Booking.com refuses to assist since the CDW+ was bought directly from the counter.
Furthermore, it feels like a deliberate setup to scam tourists: they provide modern, highly-equipped cars (with features like automatic high-beam headlights) but purposefully order them WITHOUT basic parking sensors, making it extremely easy to scratch the car. I am immediately filing an official complaint with the European Consumer Centre (ECC) and initiating a bank chargeback procedure. Beware of their unfair practices and beter stay away!
Shoddy operation
Car was dirty, had a tire with a nail in it, took about an hour to pick it up and almost as long to return it. I almost missed my flight. All the customers were unhappy. I was glad I took lots of pics when I got the car, because they were trying to charge customers for any little thing.
AVOID CARWIZ CAR RENTAL STAY AWAY
AVOID CARWIZ CAR RENTAL. They are all scammers. I got stranded at Houston airport for more than 4 hours because of this two Indians scammers they want me to pay x $400 for they said airport tax and fees which I never heard of then I denied to pay that. Then they said just put down $300 security deposit then I will get a car. But there’s no way I can trust this scammers. Because I had already pay for everything though Priceline.com for a bundle price of car and hotel. I should not have to pay another penny. So I stopped the payment by calling my credit card company to make sure this bad people not getting any money from me. It was a terrible experience I never experienced in my life. This travel agency website have to stop to hook up with this CARWIZ SCAMMERS right away before more people being a victim. And this bad people should all being arrest and lock up forever. They are giving innocent people headaches and horrible experiences. So please avoid CARWIZ stay away.
Rude staff, ripped off, not happy…
Rude staff, despite having the flight number through easyJet they cancelled the car as we were more than 2 hours late - a detail not mentioned on the voucher. We were left with no option but to book another car and were “forced” into taking the full insurance. This cost a further 266 euros on top of the original booking. If your reading this and thinking of booking with car wiz - think again😁
Horrible
Horrible! Nightmare! scam!!! This might be the worst company to ever provide a service. Hidden Fees. Lack of understanding when they are given many chances to make things right. I beg anyone looking to rent a car, rent somewhere else.
Nightmare of a situation.
Warning don’t use this rental company
Warning!
don’t rent from this carprovider. They will rent YOU a car with lot of damages and you have to take like 200 photos to cover all small and bigger damages. I got charged as lot of customer for something we did not do in airport Macedonia. We had an insurance and hopefully this insurance.
