If I could give this company zero stars, I would. Their app is trash, they took over discover one without giving anyone a choice, I had my credit stolen and $60 falsely charged on iTune gift cards... See more

Alert
Alert. Capital one through discover lost a check of our Ira over 110k and refuses to help locate it or offer any assistance. Now we are out a lot of money for none of our fault. Be aware you money is not safe at discover/capital one
Money was stolen from me via my credit…
Money was stolen from me via my credit card with them and I reported it several times and changed my password several times. They kept stating that it was from another account. They deserve a rating of negative 500 stars .
No wonder you have a 1-star review
Oh, Vey. Tried to pay mother's bill. Could not create a new profile at website; no option. Kept logging me in to my account. I'll have to send it by mail, and of course, it will be late. Waited on phone for representative, but it took too long. Way to go Capitol One. No wonder you have a 1-star review.
Capital One's only interest is to…
Capital One's only interest is to protect the merchant in every dispute. Merchants are aware of this practice and are even more empowered to commit fraudulent practices. Capital One denies claims without any sort of investigation, even though you provide the facts that they request and then re-request and re-request. Capital One is nothing more than a provider for merchants to commit fraud and abuse consumers
Terrible dispute process
Terrible dispute process. Got scammed out of $750 and they did nothing.
I was fraudulently charged by another…
I was fraudulently charged by another fraud Xfinity for services that didn’t exist. The card would not back me.
Don,t take the capital card they block…
Don,t take the capital card they block my silver card when i called the customer care they told me pay the 500 bills we will unblock your card and next day i pay my bills then they told me pay more then we will open your card its not good customer
Extremely disappointed and frustrated…
Extremely disappointed and frustrated with Capital One’s customer handling and automated risk systems.
I recently had a valid third-party check deposit reversed without any warning, and rather than allowing me an opportunity to verify the transaction or provide the issuer's contact details, the bank chose to abruptly close my account entirely.
Leaving customers completely stranded without a chance to explain or verify a standard transaction, and then forcing them to wait weeks for a physical check to receive their own funds, is unacceptable and deeply flawed customer service. I expected much better support and communication.😡
Since the takeover of Discover
Since the takeover of Discover, nothing is right. First, no IRAs. Next, they will transfer your money to another bank. How can this be possible without your permission? Try to call Discover and you may wait 50 minutes (I did) and still didn't get anyone. Don't try to explain to the stupid robot. You will get standard answers. Will never do business with them after cancelling all accounts.
Took out $18,000 on a $9,000 statement
I made a $9k payment, then the very next day they took the exact same amount out of my account again. So my statement is showing -$9k I called a few days later and told them about the error. And the "customer service" told me that they could send me a paper check in the next 15 days. Then asked is there any reason you want us to send you the check? What kind of question is that? My cc statement is at -$9,000
Capital One supports scammers, not customers.
I had an issue with a retailer who sent me the wrong item. I worked with them for a return or refund, but they turned out to be a complete scam. I notified Capital One and provided proof of my order and the incorrect product: photos, videos, and documentation. Capital One simply asked the seller if they had sent the right product, and they said yes. No proof was provided, yet Capital One ruled in their favor. They said that I could send more proof, which I did the next day, then they told me I took too long and closed the case. They also claimed to send letters which they never did, and talking to their customer service is a horrible and frustrating experience, they truly do not care about their customers. I switched all of my cards so I do not have to deal with Capital One ever again!
Find a different bank
Don’t bank here. They will find disputes in favor of scammers offering ‘free’ vacations for a fraud ‘registration fee’. What the scammers are doing is very illegal when there is no service rendered.
Capital One is NOT Discover
Never ever had anything but excellent experience and customer service with Discover Bank…then Capital One came along. First of all, they reverted back to my former name and I had to AGAIN prove a name change. Then they asked me to verify users on my account. I had removed both my kids months ago, but they were there so I removed them again on the app and verified only my husband. They sent him a new card…no big deal. Today I got an email that they issued my husband ANOTHER card AND they also issued cards for both of my kids that aren’t even authorized users anymore. What the ACTUAL HECK??? The next thing they’ll probably do is issue one for my ex…maybe the neighbor too. This is absolutely a ludicrous way to run a financial institution. When I called they had absolutely no explanation of why they’ve issued 4 cards in my account now. How can an Account holder feel secure with this kind of thing occurring??? I think it’s time to find a new bank!!
Accidental extra credits charged back to me at 26% interest. Basically turned my balance transfer back into transactions.
I’ve had a Capital One credit card for years and have loved it for the rewards. They even handled a fraudulent claim quickly. the problem I have right now is that I had a zero balance and I did a balance transfer. The fraud claim happened after my balance transfer for transactions made monthly from a company that ended up not being a real company . They accidentally credited me for 12 months instead of seven. Instead of canceling five of the credits they charged them back to me at 26% APR. I did my balance transfer in May for 12 months but now more than half of my transfer has been moved into the transaction section and I have to pay it all off by the end of this month because it is part of the interest saver payment. I spent over four hours talking to every single department getting transferred back-and-forth talking to supervisors and no one would understand that these five transactions were actually extra credits that were being reversed. I should have until May 2027 to pay my whole balance transfer off but now I have to pay more than half of it before my due date this month. They wouldn’t even give me an interest waiver. All they would do is tell me about payment allocation, and refused to understand basic math. If you buy something for $100 and you return it but they accidentally give you $500 in credit and then they charge you $400 to even it out but that $400 is now 26% APR when you’ve already paid off the $100 in time to avoid the 26% APR the first time it was charged they don’t understand that that’s illegal. I pay off my balance every single month for any transactions that I make on top of my balance transfer amount. My entire balance should be still in the 0% APR. The fact that it’s 26% APR for purchases in the first place is absolutely insane. That’s why I avoid it completely by paying it all off every month. But now instead of paying my usual even split of my balance transfer so that it’s paid off completely by my May 2027 deadline I now have to come up with $1795. The most frustrating part was that some of the people that I talk to could see what I was referring to And was in the same boat as me saying that it was done incorrectly but then they just would say “there’s nothing we can do.” absolutely horrible experience.
Capital One just merged with Discover…
Capital One just merged with Discover Card. Never once did they send me a notice that my statement ending date is flexible. I waited to charge a bill for the next billing cycle but, they changed the ending statement date so it's on this statement. Now I have to come up with money I shouldn't have to come up with this early. Customer service and supervisors were useless. I was told to check every month before I pay bills to see when the ending date will be. How ridiculous is that?
They pull you in, but don't value you as a customer
I have held the Capital One Venture card for over four years, but I can no longer recommend it to anyone who values their credit score.I have a substantial income, manage multiple credit cards, and pay off every single balance in full and on time every month. Despite this perfect financial profile, Capital One granted me my lowest credit limit across all of my cards.
Because of this arbitrarily low limit, regular monthly spending easily pushed the card close to its maximum capacity. Even though I consistently paid the balance down to zero every single month and never missed a payment, Capital One reported this high utilization to the credit bureaus. Consequently, my near-perfect credit score took a massive, unwarranted hit simply because I was using the small limit they provided.
The most frustrating part is the complete lack of customer support. I reached out twice to request a credit limit increase to fix this issue, explaining my income and perfect payment history, and was denied both times. Capital One forces you into a trap: they give you a tiny limit, punish your credit score for using it, and refuse to increase it when you ask. If you have excellent credit and a high income, look elsewhere—Capital One does not know how to handle premium clients.
Extremely disappointed
1/5 — Extremely Disappointing Experience
Capital One has genuinely been one of the most disappointing companies I’ve dealt with. After my experience, I honestly don’t see the benefit of booking travel through them at all. You’re better off booking directly with the airline or hotel, where you at least have a better chance of getting actual assistance when something goes wrong.
Their customer service is incredibly frustrating. When you’re dealing with an emergency, unexpected situation, or major inconvenience, their response basically comes down to, “There’s nothing we can do.” There seems to be very little effort to actually help the customer or find a solution. You can explain the situation over and over again, and it feels like nobody genuinely cares.
What makes it even worse is when you’re told or promised something and then Capital One doesn’t follow through. What is the point of advertising travel benefits, protections, or customer service if, when you actually need those benefits, suddenly nobody can help you?
I expected significantly better from a company this large. A travel service is only valuable when it actually supports you when something goes wrong — not just when everything goes perfectly.
After this experience, I would much rather book directly through airlines and hotels than rely on Capital One Travel. The supposed benefits are simply not worth the frustration, lack of accountability, and complete lack of support when you actually need it.
Do NOT deal with Capital One
I was dealing with Discover for 45 years. Discover was a great company and had a good relationship with them/their customer service and staff at Salt Lake City, Utah. Suddenly without my notice, my account from Discover transferred to Capital One. This happened so quick and I did not notice how come they did not inform me regarding changing my account to Capital One. This company has a very bad reputation and customer service oversees constantly gives false information to clients. I had 2 disputed charges - one with EZ pool and Ebay. They told us both cases settled in my favor but later on we found out they sellers gave Capital One false information and took the money back out of my account. They are not US based and are very unprofessional/provide false information to customers. From the bottom of my heart, do not deal with this company. I am a victim. This company in my opinion abuses senior citizens by providing incorrect information. Do not be a victim of this company. I am closing my account and going a different direct. DO NOT BE A VICTIM AND DON'T WORK WITH CAPITAL ONE.
Not great for couples
I suggested that my spouse get an account here after several years of no issues, turns out that was a waste of time. Capital One will only issue ONE card per house regardless of who the primary on the account is. Customer service absolutely stonewalled me on this.
Only company the restricts your account…
Only company the restricts your account for making payments. Happened earlier this year. Took me hours to get it cleared up. Last night, boom happens again. Then you end up dealing with customer service that basically can do nothing. I would give them zero stars if I could.
