Painful to work with - archaic website

Capitol International Group is a UK offshore based brokerage that is used by investment consultants when managing their clients’ portfolios. I was working with an investment manager in Malaysia who had made some recommendations and I had opted to invest with his company. They used CIG as their brokerage as it allows them to get their managing fees directly. As far as setting things up it was painless but when I opted to transfer my positions to my personal brokerage it took a month with little feedback from CIG on where the holdup was. (Update: several months after closing my account one of CIG’s relationship consultants did reach out after reading this review to clarify that the hold up was with my Brokerage, this was not communicated at the time of trying to make the transfer). In the end CIG was never able to transfer my positions so I opted to sell my positions, close my account, and transfer my funds back to my bank. This also took more than a month and required several follow ups from both myself (rarely responded to me directly) and my investment consultant to have my funds eventually settled.

My recommendation is if you are using an investment consultant that uses the CIG brokerage and platform then work out a plan to pay them directly and use your own brokerage as the CIG interface is rudimentary and their customer service is bordering on non-existent.
