Did not receive all my plants
Did not receive all my plants. Representative said they would refund my money but never did receive it. I would not recommend and I will not be doing business with them again.
Nothing but Weeds!
I wouldn't waste any money purchasing Burpee seeds. I sent them feedback, along with pictures of the weeds that they sent me from an order I placed on Amazon, and received a polite "not our problem, you purchased our seeds through Amazon, let them deal with it" email. Oh well! Now I know better!
Purchased seeds at target
Purchased seeds at target. Beyond disappointment. Sage, no results at all. Basil 2 seedlings very weak, peas sooo sad. No performance. Green beans are very good. Marigolds should grow more then 1 inch in 6 weeks. Gotta go to local if they have any plants left. So disappointed. Expensive lesson.
Don't waste your money ordering plants!
Don't waste your money ordering tomato plants from Burpee! This is the second time trying tomato plants mail-order (both from Burpee). First, I live 4 hours from the UT shipping origination point. My plants went to IL and PA before coming all the way back to me. What would have been 2 days in a box, they were in there for at least 5. Second, The plants have few leaves, weak stems, and very little life. I'll have to go to a nursery and replace them. Never again!! (The parsley and cilantro plants were equally as bad.)
Leggy Tomatoes
Very disappointed. The shipping was a week late. The bundles of tomato, basil and peppers were dry and half dead by the time they arrived at my door. I have never seen such leggy tomato plants. Burpee's standards have gone way down. I will not be ordering from them again, even for seed. Next year I will start my own tomato plants. Any thing I grow will be better than what was sent. The return process is such a hassle so I am not even going to put myself through that headache. I will just cut my losses.
Significant delays with shipping plants & terrible communication
Their communicated plant shipping schedule does not match what is on the website. The order information for plants that I’m waiting to ship has no information about a tentative ship date. It’s two weeks past the shipping window and when I called customer service I’m given a hard time about asking why the plants have not shipped yet. It’s a lousy system. The people I’m communicating with have very poor customer communication and very poor understanding of what The experience is like for the customer. I will never buy light plants from this company again. Some plants showed up on time but the majority of the plants, I will be lucky if I get them in July. They should’ve been here May 6. It’s already in the 80s here and they’re telling me that tomato plants can’t be shipped to this area yet. It makes no sense.

What I thought I was getting was very different from what I received. My blueberry plants were not cheap but my thumb was bigger than the plants. Plus the tomato plants I received were the size of plants I could get at the local grocery store for $2.99. For the price I paid I could get plants at Lowe's that already have buds or even small tomatoes already growing. I will not be returning as a customer.

Took forever to get here and what I paid for was not worth the wait! most likely never use Burpee again. not what they are cracked up to be. Unfortunately we placed a large order strawberry blueberries raspberry blackberry and seeds as well. Price of 400.00 . Plants advertised as bigger than actual received some just roots. Seeds watermelon and flower zero grow. Very disappointed no longer a customer.

I ordered 6 tomato plants which arrived in terrible condition. All but 2 were dead. I contacted Burpee and spoke with a very pleasant individual. He indicated that Burpee would replace the whole order, which they did not. They sent 4, of which 2 were dead. I wound up with 4 living plants out of 10 sent to me. I won't be ordering from them again.

I don’t get all the positive reviews. The plants they send are tiny and in poor condition. Plus it takes forever for them to ship. I ordered plants that I already got and I had ordered more right before I received the first order because they were having a sale and had plants that I could not find locally. When I received my first order I was so disappointed in the quality and instantly regretted ordering more. Well now the second order still hasn’t shipped and it’s been 10 days! I guess I have learned my lesson and won’t be ordering ever again.

I have tried and tried to talk to their person in charge of shipping and after 5 times with no returned calls i am forced to leave this review. I ordered plants last November and just got them the first of April. For where I’m located this was after our growing season. I have always bought plants and seeds from them but will no longer buy from them if they can’t give me the courtesy of calling me. When I receive my tomato plants, it was three months too late to plant them in my area. Very upset that they won’t have the courtesy of calling me back apparently I’m not a big enough customer of theirs for them to go on. Give me the respect of calling me.

Shipping schedule is wonky
I was disappointed that the onion sets I ordered will be shipped according to the zone I was previously in. Getting onions nearly in May seems kind of ridiculous for a gardener in zone 6a.
I inquired why they weren't shipped earlier, and was told that Burpee ships according to the USDA zones as of Nov. 1. Not that the USDA changes zones all that often, but it was changed Nov. 15, which seems like plenty of time for Burpee to adjust their 2024 shipping schedule. Nowhere on the page did it mention this oddity. I would have found onion sets elsewhere if I had known I'd still be waiting for them to ship.
Terrible plants
Ordered two mix bundles of tomatoes and got one bundle. All 3 in the bundle were damaged beyond use! Terrible online experience as well. Never again will I order from them. I’ll get my co-op to get what I want from now on
