They never logged me. I think.

I used this in 2015 before I switched to IPVanish, who I just left for PIA.

- Slower speeds than most. Service never dropped though.

- Three servers to use, that's it.

- Infamous among users of having slow or awful customer service.

- The service doesn't drop, but not very intuitive to set up the client.

- Expensive versus better alternatives that are also more affordable. I find that strange.

- Never got a DMCA notice while using the service though. So there's that.

Service never dropped and never got a DMCA notice with 100s of opportunities to have them forwarded.

Price, speeds, difficulty setting up the service and lack of servers...

BTGuard Service/Speed/Anonymity

BTGuard Review from a user

BTGuard Anonymous? Not so much
When BTGuard sends you a reminder for payments they send it to the email address you used when paying for the service through PayPal, not the email you have registered with them. That means they save all your credit card information. Anonymous? Nope, not at all.

Speed?
Don’t even for a minute think that what BTGuard writes on their home page is true. “Unlimited download speeds” – no way. Sometimes it is not even enough to listen to radio on WinAmp with their VPN-service.

Customer service?
I have two accounts, one that I tested with and found out that it was very bad (the VPN) and one that I wanted to use (proxy) even if it is slow. I got a reminder that my payment was due (on my paypal address…) and a direct link for adding funds to the account. I filled it up and then it stopped working a few days later. Then I realized that the direct link filled up the wrong account, not the account that the direct link was pointing to(!) I wrote to BTGuard to transfer the money to the correct account instead. This is their answer:

Paypal email: [erased]
Due date: 2012-04-15
Account status: Active

Subscription: This is you active account. You can use it or not. We did not force you to create a second account this is all your fault. Stop being a baby and just use the new one you created or don't. Your other account is not active.

Best, BTGuard

Well, thanks for answering but you did not read my message. The problem is that I filled up the wrong account "[erased]" because your directlink from your payment reminder took my to the WRONG account when the correct account to be filled up was "[erased]". I don't want the vpn-service, I want the normal proxy. Please transfer the payment to [erased] which is the account I wanted to fill up and also the account your direct link was SUPPOSED to take me to but didn't.

Correct account: [erased]
Password: [erased]

Yours Sincerely [erased]

Interesting attitude towards their customers, right? If this is how BTGuard treats you as a customer – how serious do you think they are regarding your anonymity?
