Absolutely terrible quality

Absolutely terrible quality! We have had multiple repairs on our Britannia range cooker, literally on thing after another! Now have 3 rings working and only the small oven is working but unfortunately the door is broken so absolutely useless! Such a shame as it’s a beautiful looking cooker and it cost a fortune! I’ve just ordered a Rangemaster professional.

Britannia Living - Pacifica repair is is a scam

Actually zero but one will have to do.
Please avoid at all cost!
I booked to have my oven repaired after the front glass pane and handle fell off. On the website repairs are handled by a company called Pacifica, which requires you to pay £289.99 upfront to include the callout and any repairs.
Upon arriving, it was discovered that the model number sticker inside the oven had been burnt off (what a surprise!) and promptly left. I asked if he could at least fix the lights and he said that he hadn't brought any bulbs with him.
So not hearing back, I called to find out what was happening and this was the response: "Since your model number has burnt off - we are unable to order the new part and supply one to you."
Okay but surely you have standard doors? "Oh no, we don't. We have hundred of models, all with different doors!"
Really?! "Yes really".
Perhaps I could send you a pic and you can figure out what model it is? "Oh no, we can't do that."
Okay, then perhaps you can give me a refund for the non repairs? "Oh didn't you read the small print in the contract? You have to pay even if we don't fix anything."

I am extremely unhappy with this…

I am extremely unhappy with this company. I thought as I have a Britannia cooker that it was the best thing to contact Britannia Living. My story starts in December 2024. I paid £248 up front for the engineer to come. The first appointment was booked for 3rd December. The engineered messaged me 1hr before he was due to arrive saying that he would not be coming as he was not gas registered! Second appointment in 6th December. The engineered arrived spent 10 minutes in my house, told me it was the thermostat on the oven and the parts were obsolete so no repair. Told me I could cope with the dodgy ignition on the hob!
After several emails with customer services re my complaint I still have no joy. However, I have now had a company repair my cooker, parts are not obsolete and guess what it wasn’t the thermostat it was the top element in the oven ! Your engineer couldn’t even make a correct diagnosis. I am so annoyed with the way I was treated and the expense incurred and no repair. To anyone reading this please avoid Britannia Living !

Still new but they discontinued essential parts

We bought a new range oven and within just a few years it started tripping the power in the whole house. We paid for an engineer visit who on his second time out diagnosed a faulty party that he said Britannia no longer make. We are absolutely livid that we can’t get a full repair nor use the oven as intended without causing our power to cut off. We can use certain settings on the oven with the fan on, but it’s a minefield. Avoid this company, the products are poor quality and repairs are a nightmare if not impossible. This business will make money by ceasing to provide spares and repeat replacement business I dare say but not with us. My next £6k purchase will be elsewhere. Disappointed and duped is how we feel and we paid the engineer to deliver the bad news. This seems to be a dreadful manufacturer in the oven realm.

Forewarned is forearmed!

Mine’s not a recent experience but I wanted to warn others about buying one of these range cookers. The glass in the grill section shattered about four years ago and when I rang the company I was told that cooker didn’t have a glass front. I sent an email together with photos of the shattered glass but received neither acknowledgment nor replay. The cooker hood purchased at the same time ceased to work after a few years. I don’t want to pay the extortionate rates they charge for repairs and am just getting on with it. I’ll never buy anything from this company again.

A terrible waste of my money

Paid a £200 upfront fee, for this allegedly 'professional' company to arrive and repair my range cooker. the engineer arrived, simply said we don't make parts for these any more, and left. I have since been told by other engineers that new parts do exist, and repairs can be undertaken without new parts. He spent no time trying to diagnose the problem/repairing, he just drove off. If it's that clear cut why didn't the team who booked it in over the phone tell me this and save me £200 ? I used Britannia because if they can't fix a Britannia range then who can? Utter waste of money.

Abysmal customer service - Do not use their repair service!

Using Britannia's cooker repair service (outsourced to a firm called Pacifica) has been a horrible experience from beginning to end, and I could not urge people strongly enough not to use it. We have a Britannia cooker that is overheating, and thought using the "official" Britannia Living repair service would be worth the premium involved. We could not have been more wrong - one of the worst customer service experiences we have had. We first booked the repair in February of this year, and as of late May the simple issue still has never been repaired; a rude engineer from Pacifica came out but claimed (with no investigation other than turning the oven on for a few minutes) that there was no issue with it. But the problem remained. We called again and another engineer was sent, but was not provided with the parts (even though the problem was known in advance), so we had to book in yet another visit. Several following appointments were cancelled at the last minute due to engineer sickness. The third such cancellation was not even notified to us in advance, so we were waiting at home all day for the engineer only to find out later it was rescheduled to a later date.

Today was the final straw - we were given a three hour window for the engineer's arrival. However, the engineer came more than 20 minutes before the start of the window (5 minutes before my wife, who was arriving back home more than 15 minutes before the start of the window) and left when no one was there, without even bothering to call us. Absolutely inexcusable for a contractor to leave if he arrives earlier than the scheduled appointment window. And even though we called within minutes of his leaving (still before our scheduled appointment time), he refused to come back, claiming his schedule was too busy.

Calling the head office was of no help whatsoever - they are hardly even apologetic, they just say matter-of-factly that we will need to book in for another appointment (which would be about the 7th or 8th time now) - I let them know this was absolutely unacceptable and have asked for a full refund.

In general, the attitude of Britannia and Pacifica is extremely customer-unfriendly - never ready to help, never apologetic, the customer is just a number on the system and they couldn't care less how many times they inconvenience you. We will never have anything to do with this company again.

Great oven, SHOCKING after sales customer service

Had a Britannia range cooker since 2019 with no issues. November 2023 the inner door glass shattered. Purchased a replacement part and clips at a healthy £220, replaced it ourselves and it shattered again in January.

Called customer services and arranged for one of their engineers to attend as replacement glass still under warranty. Part was free, engineer visit £200 - better be safe than sorry we thought.

Engineer arrived on 28/02/24 and had been sent with the wrong part, but also confirmed the original replacement was incorrect. Said he had sent a message to CS and they would reorder the correct part and arrange a follow up visit.

Nothing heard for a fortnight so emailed to follow up with our invoice reference number for the call out in the subject line. 5 days later received an email from Andy asking for a reference number starting CC. I opened the invoice and there was the number he couldn't find.

Emailed back saying I was concerned that he had missed the reference and why it was taking so long to reply, got a short message from Andy this morning (4 days later) telling me the job had been completed on 28/02 and if I had any problems I needed to contact the 3rd party contractor.

Thankfully the engineer contractor is much more helpful, even though our contract is not with them.

Had my range cooker for years with no problems - excellent quality. Had a slight problem with an electric timer so needed to arrange for a repair. Called customer care who were great. Worked out what part was needed and then they arranged for technician to come and repair and install. Joe was super efficient, prompt and polite. Couldn’t fault him. Highly recommend.

Terrible, rip off company

Oven broke down needing all but one new heating elements despite only being 4 years old. Spent 30 minutes on hold to contact the office. When they finally answered, in order to get a date for an engineer to visit to fix the oven, before they would even give me a date I had to pay upfront £219!! (what other company does this?!) They then gave me a date 2 weeks later meaning I was oven-less for this whole time. When the repair was eventually made, the total cost was £550, extortionate given how new the oven is. I will NEVER buy a Britannia oven again and recommend you to avoid like the plague

Oven Timer Assembly failed on my…

Oven Timer Assembly failed on my Britannia oven. The cost of this small single part is £140! My independent oven engineer says he's never seen anything like it... i voiced concerns with the customer experience who tried to tell me that it wasn't there fault they're expensive as they buy the parts in from a manufacturer in Italy.
It is their concern and it is something they must have negotiated. They could control prices to a large extent, but they have chosen not too.
I won't buy another of their ovens and i would suggest others should think twice too if they are not concerned about filling landfill and exploiting their existing customer base.... wake up guys. CX really does matter if you want a viable long term business with customers who support your brands.

Known fault with the Britannia oven

Known fault with the Britannia oven. A thermostat switch appears to burn itself out so the main oven won't turn on at all. We've had this reoccurring fault since buying the oven. And the small oven really isn't fit for purpose. Takes over 2 hours to roast potatoes. And it has happened again this morning on Xmas eve. We have 12 people coming for Xmas lunch but Britannia Living are now closed. Like most others I'll never buy another Britannia product. Absolutely furious.

Appalling engineer

Appalling engineer - our oven was repaired in the Summer and I paid extra to have a warranty. Then I realised the side oven only worked if the main oven was on so I waited ages to get someone back. He spent 4 hours fitting the wrong part and left me with the side oven not working at all which I need for Christmas. He also lied and said he had put the old part back in so it would still work and was offended when I suggested I should check so I didn’t. Big mistake as doesn’t work and engineer due to come today has just cancelled.

Britannia Range Cooker - Not Fit For Purpose

I'm afraid I can only add to the bitter disappointment that is already catalogued on this page with Britannia. I purchased a range cooker for over £2,000 about 2 and a half years ago for new kitchen thinking it was a premium product. After about 12months of light use (there's only 2 of us and we eat out a lot) we noticed that steam was escaping out of the font of the oven and apparently getting into the clock, causing it to click and whirr. We thought perhaps this was normal as 'its a premium product right?' and it would continue to work. Then a couple of months ago the clock stopped working and with it the whole oven. Very frustratingly the cooker was just outside of manufacturer's 2 year warranty at this point so I was advised to pay for a repair or a 'health check' for £299 + parts (over £100 for another clock). The oven turned on and we thought it was fixed. Not so as it stopped working again almost immediately. Another engineer visit was booked in. The night before he was due he rang to tell me there was in fact a design flaw with the oven that was allowing steam into the clock and he needed a 'modification kit' which he described as a few washers to fix it, so he'd have to rechedule. I've now been told the part isn't available until the end of February. I have my in-laws coming for Christmas and no way to cook the turkey. As others have mentioned, contacting customer service requires around 30mins on hold and then repeating the whole story again - but there's nothing they can do apparently. Over £2,000 on an oven, over £400 for it to be fixed and now no way to cook the Christmas dinner. I am bitterly disappointed with the product and the inability to put it right when problems arise. If anyone else has had a problem with the steam issue please post about it - I strongly suspect there are others who are in the same position as me given the number of 1 star reviews. As I understand this is a design flaw which makes the oven not fit for purpose and so even outside the warranty Britannia have a responsibility to put it right. I would be very happy to hear from them...

If there was a zero star option this…

If there was a zero star option this would be the rating. We inherited a Britannia stove when we bought the house. They last ‘serviced’ it on18/11/21. The large oven - needed for Xmas does not work. It seems as though the timer is stuck .. but we aren’t experts!
Numerous calls to Britannia over the past few weeks - all of then answered by a message saying they will ring back. They haven’t . Have Britannia gone bust?
