Quality has been taken off the agenda

Quality has been taken off the agenda. I used to have a Rotak for many years (7 years at least) and aside from sharpening the blade, it was a great mower. So I bought another Rotak electric mower.
This is such a flimsy lightweight product, McDonalds could give these away with meals, or Kinder have better quality plastic in their toys.
Only 3 cutting heights which is very hard to adjust for anyone of a certain age (springs are way too tight). The grass box doesn't sit neat against the mower so much of the grass drops away from the box when trying to empty it. It is a shadow of the former models. Even the power lead is shorter. I would recommend anyone considering buying to look at the other models that are probably cheaper but better quality.
2 stars... 1 for the fact that it works (so far) and the other for the fact that it weighs next to nothing.

Unethical, inhumane, incompetent, and possibly even deliberately vexatious.

This review is about the service and repair centre that deal with Intego lawn mowers.

I emailed the repair center with a detailed account of the problem, and all the steps I had taken to eliminate the possibility of simple issues, such as replacing the battery with one from an identical mower that was working, trying the mower in the docking station of a mower that was working. I received a reply with instructions on how to change the battery. I don't know if this reply came from an AI bot, or just from someone who just hadn't read my email.

After another email and a phone call I had arranged for the mower to be send back to them for repair. They said that I would receive a courier label by email, and that the mower would be picked up the following Monday. No label came. I emailed them to tell them, saying this and, as I now presumed Monday was out of the question for collection, I also told them the days that I would be at home for a collection. They replied saying that they had not read my email in time to arrange the courier for Monday, and would Tuesday be okay (I had already told them it would). I replied again. By this time they had missed the Tuesday collection as well, and I still hadn't received a label. Eventually I telephoned them and spoke to a helpful lady who arranged the collection there and then, I received the label, and it was collected.

Bosch's website say that they will review machines sent to them for repair within 5 days. After 2 weeks I emailed them and was told that they were very busy and would get to it as soon as they could. I have ME/CFS, a disability that leaves me permanently weak, exhausted, and feeling ill. If I do use more energy than my body gives me, I get sicker. Since being without the mower I have had to mow my lawn either with a push mower or a strimmer. Every time I do this I get sick. I can tolerate doing it once or twice, but the effect is cumulative, and being without a mower was starting to affect me quite badly. I told them all of this on my second email, 4 weeks after collection.

They didn't reply to my email, but they did without any explanation, send me a quote asking for approval. As there was no accompanying explanation I had to check with them that it was genuine before opening the attachment. The quote was itemised and and listed a circuit board, labour, two new wheels and wheel covers. The mower had wheels on it, albeit customised off-road wheels. I telephoned them to ask about this, saying I suspected the wheels on the quote were to do with the customised wheels, and saying that I don't need replacement wheels as I already have the original set in the cupboard. (This was the same nice lady I think that organised the courier). She asked me to send an email so that she could pass it to the technical department for a reply. So I did this, also telling them about the customised wheels. The reply said simply, and I quote: "If the wheels have been quoted for it is because they are required. The Max Price would not be affected by removing these either." To be clear, the quote to which I had referred wasn't a "maximum price" quote, it was an itemised quote and the wheels and covers were £50.

I telephoned again and spoke to, I think, the very same nice lady who said that she would see what she could do. I also emailed asking, again, why the new wheels were required (as they hadn't yet answered this question). This time they said, and again I quote: "The wheels on the Indego are non-standard, so we need to change these to the correct versions." Again no sensible explanation as to why was given. To be clear, my two previous emails had stated that I was aware that the wheels on the mower were non-standard, and that they were quoting for standard wheels.

I have now asked them to consider the issue a formal complaint. I have asked them a fairly simple question three times (twice by email and once on the phone). They have given me, at best evasive, and at worst deliberately unhelpful and sarcastic replies.

As they have my lawnmower and I can't physically cope without it, and trying to cope is making me sick and exacerbating a disability, I have said that if they can't resolve within 2 days I will have to agree to pay their invoice in order to get my mower back and repaired. But it will be under duress with the intention of claiming the money back through the small claims court.

I don't think I can find the words to describe how vicious this kind of behaviour is, and how devastating in terms of it's effect. I feel very sad for the one helpful and kind woman to whom I speak to on the telephone. I don't know why human beings behave like this towards other human beings, and why employers and managers apparently sanction it.

Whatever the reason, it is a poor reflection on Bosch.

Purchased a Bosch Advanced Rotak 750…

Purchased a Bosch Advanced Rotak 750 lawn mower in July 2021, which broke down 2yrs 11 months later. As I didn't register it online, bosch.servicecentre are refusing to fix it. I have provided proof of purchase, my address has not changed and I consider this product is not fit for purpose and has not lasted a reasonable period of time. Beware of the small print!

Bosch Lawn Mower motor problems.

I made a crazy decision to buy a Bosch Rotak arm 37 18 months ago to replace a 32 which I'd had for 2 years after the motor had burnt out. I honestly thought I'd been unlucky with the first and thought buying a 37 with a larger powered motor would last a few years longer even though the size of my lawn doesn't warrant it. That wasn't the case, the same problem, the armature had burnt out again on this one. Bosch customer service a gent named Ralf told me it wasn't good enough to experience such a problem and insisted it needed returning for inspection which I did. This morning I've had a repair quote from them for £69.74. I think it's best they scrap it and in future be aware of not taking it for granted a name like Bosch is a guarantee of quality. I should have done some research before buying, it seems it's a known issue.

Bosch Easymower 18V 32 200 Cordless

Just purchased and assembled handle and fittings. Looks flimsy and handle is secured to actual mower by 2 tiny plastic screws, which don't appear to have been machined properly. One goes in without turning, other one locks before fully inserted. Basket for collecting grass also very flimsy. Hope it lasts 3 years covered by warranty?

The handle and fixings need improvement

The mower cuts nicely, but the handle is too long to make it easily manoeuvrable and I can not lower the handle for my height. But the most annoying is the two lower clips that hold the base of the handle to the mower keep popping open. If I loosen them so they don’t pop open then the handle wobbles.
I won’t ever buy Bosch tools again.

BoschCordless Citymower

Bought a Bosch Citymower, it stopped working after 10 months, I sent it to them for repair which took ages and then they sent me a cheap replacement, which I sent back. After another month I got a replacement of my original mower. This all happened in May, now in August its happened again. It must be a design fault, as I can't think its coincidence.
Bosch refuse to refund me, and I have to go through the charade of sending it back again! Never again will I buy anything form Bosch, but It seems I'm stuck with their mower, unless I want oft write off nearly £300!

Appauling

Seems to be a theme here and wished I'd checked before I purchased. Bosche Rotak 360, used for a year then it stopped working. Sent it back to Bosche, it's been there 3 weeks. I called up and asked for a rough eta and was told that they dont have that information as the workshop doesn't provide that insight. I asked if they could ask for a rough ETA to set mine and other customers expectations and they simply replied that we don't get that information. Really rude, abrupt and lacking self awareness. Astonishingly bad service.

Bosch taking forever to repair lawnmower

Motor burnt out on my year old Bosch lawnmower, sent for repairs and have been waiting 7+weeks - still not got it back.
Always get the same excuse - they're waiting for parts. terrible customer service.

update - added a star as Bosch sent me a replacement lawnmower after 10 weeks. Don't know why they couldn't have sent one sooner.

Useless Bosch Rotak Lawnmower

I recently purchased a Bosch Rotak 37-14 Ergo lawnmower from Argos. I have previously had a Bosch lawnmower for many years and have been very happy with it, hence the reason for choosing one again.
However, this model is not fit for purpose. It only had two usable settings for adjusting the height of the cut and one of these cuts i too short, and the other too long. The rest are useless. The grass box does not seem to fit properly and has to be emptied when it is only half full. The handle on the grass box is very flimsy and comes off easily. Sad to report this model does not come close to the previous one.

Absolute rubbish

Having had a Bosch mower for many years it sadly cut out on my first mow this year, it didn’t owe me anything so bought a new one ! What a pile of rubbish assembly is shocking holes don’t line up and the space to screw the bolts is big enough for a child ! The grass box is flimsy as anything ! Absolutely rubbish I give the thing 12-18 months max ! Won’t buy another Bosch that’s for sure

Rotak 370 ER electric mower

Got a Rotak 370 ER electric lawnmower from B&Q (Ireland). I was very sick so the first time I used it was over a year after I purchased it. (I had heen using a strimmer in the interim until i set up the lawnmower). I have a small suburban garden and as I nearly finished mowing the lawn, the engine cut out. Tried to restart it and it wouldn't start. Opened the lid and the mower had obviously burnt out. On the first use!! It was broken and useless, having spent over €100 on it for just one use! Had no satisfaction from B&Q since it was over a year from purchase. So I'm left with a completely useless piece of scrap metal for my money. And absolutely no comeback. I would advise against anybody buying any Bosch electrical garden products as the quality is shockingly bad. I later discovered from YouTube reviews that this seems to be a common problem with this product. Several reviews say that the engine burned out prematurely. Bosch must know about this problem and continue to sell an inferior product. Please avoid purchasing this as it will be a complete waste of money!!

I bought a AdvancedRotak 36-850 from…

I bought a AdvancedRotak 36-850 from Costco in April 2021 , I registered online for the 3 year warranty which they offered. I only use the machine to trim the edge around my garden , then I have a ride on mower for the rest of the garden. I have probably used the AdvancedRotak 36-850 about 10/12 times in that period and charged the battery that many times. Sunday just gone when I finished went to charge the battery and red flashing light came on, wouldn’t charge. Waited till Tuesday as Monday was a bank holiday only to be told the battery is only 12 months? It doesn’t say that anywhere on the warranty certificate, not only that one should get at least 500 charges out of the battery at least. Lady on customer services very rude as well. New battery is £249.00 , new machine just under £400 so you can see this so called quality brand is nothing but rubbish. Save your money don’t buy Bosch they are living of the brand name from years ago. They are absolute rubbish buy a cheaper brand it may last longer.

Awful mower, grass does not look cut

Just bought a cordless Bosch mower from B&Q this week, have used it twice, it works ok but the lowest cut is way too high and the lawn does not look cut, looks like a field 😬 very disappointing, my old Gtech was perfect I wish I’d bought a new one from them, cannot recommend at all

Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 lawn mower

Bosch Advanced Rotak 650 lawn mower - mower worked for 3 years then just one week outside warranty the motor has burnt out so no recourse at all. Not heavily used. Looked on line for replacement motor £165!!! + postage so almost same cost as a new lawn mower - Bosch is therefore forcing obsolescence by stupidly high prices on parts. Previously owned Bosch electric lawn mower also failed after a couple of years. Bosch products have really gone downhill in quality over recent years.

I bought a Bosch Lawnmower, service is arrogant and I will never buy one of their tools again.

I bought a Bosch Lawnmower, thinking bosch was one of the best makes, it constantly broke down. The arrogance of the service team is astounding , they dont want to help, in my opinion they dont want to do a repair under guarantee. I have many bosch tools but after this experience wont be buying any more.. You have to wait in all day for collection for a repair, they want to waste as much of your time as they can to get out of doing the repairs.. Rubbish service.

Bosch = Expensive Poor Products

Like so many people we thought Bosch was a quality brand. But oh no not the garden kit it is terrible, and so many bad reviews, I wish I'd looked here first. This time it's the super expensive battery for the lawn mower. Just stopped working after 18 months and not covered on Bosch extended warranty. We had our Honda mower nearly ten years, and sold it working to try a battery lawn mower. Bosch = Expensive Poor Products. Will end up costing you hundreds to maintain, read the reviews and avoid.

Cordless Lawnmower have terrible motor lifespan

I purchased a Rotak 430 LI Cordless Lawnmower, and used it for less than 2000 minutes before the motor died. It was just out of warrantee so they wanted £135 to repair it. Don't be fooled by the well known brand. These cordless lawnmowers are not well made. I wish I had seen the other reviews here before I had purchased one. An expensive mistake :(

Another important thing to note. Bosch don't care about reviews - or customers. Just check how many times they can be bothered to answer customer's concerns on Trustpilot. The answer is ZERO. That's a real shame. We have parted with hard earned money and hoped to purchase from a company with some thought for consumers of their products.
