took my GS in yesterday to have the free upgrade done plus mot and oil change service

i was called at lunch time and told that i needed a new rear calliper as the bolt had stripped and they would not contribute to the part because i had a hugger fitted to the bike and it was not bmw approved part. Next, as i paused to think i was told it’s not much use in the state it’s in now - excellent comment for customer relations! I took the rear calliper off recently to chance the pads and refitted it without any issue so i fail to see why a bmw technician couldn’t do the same…. had they told me in advance that they would not refit the hugger i would not have had the work done so they have, in my opinion, conned me out of £340 i wouldn’t have had to pay - in addition to that they have failed to return all the correct bolts from the hugger so i now have to find the right ones to refit it…. Add on to this the fact that the bike failed the
MOT because the headlight was too high - it was fine 840 miles ago when they passed it last year and it also failed because the technician had failed to fit the gaiter correctly on the job he had done - had i not have had the MOT that wouldn’t have been spotted!! absolutely disgusted with this place and won’t be using again

Had my bike in BMW Preston for leaking fork seals. Told it needs a new fork stantion as it was damaged, and quoted me £850 for the job. Took it P & R Tyres in Liverpool who I normally use. They quoted £400 for the same job. Just called me earlier and said its done, only £195..... as it didn't need a fork stantion. Basically BMW trying to lift my leg for £850. Based on their mechanic's diagnosis..... I wouldn't put a pram into that workshop, bunch of thieves!!

AVOID Lind Motorrad Norwich

Absolutely appalling service from Lind Norwich. Got my bike back today having dropped off for service and MOT on 28.3.23...yes 8 WEEKS! NO phone calls to update me. I had to chase and complain to get any action at all. Bike is returned dirty, with the old wheel balance weight sticky things left on next to the new weights and the black stuff used to seal the new tyres is all over the rear wheel. Tyre pressures are wrong so I have had to re inflate to correct pressures. There is a random sticker on the headlight and blue paint on the exhaust. Never, ever going back there. The complaints procedure is ineffective and doesn't seem to have any associated policy. I would be embarrassed to work here.

Had the bike serviced at Preston

Had the bike serviced at Preston, left it with them for 8 hours when I collected it they told me the pads were on the legal limit and a brake disc needed replacing. Had to leave it another day due to total incompetence. Not the first time me and my lot have had problems with this lot.

Arden Motorrad

The BMW motorcycle dealership in Tunbridge Wells, Arden Motorrad have done a sterling job on the first service for my S1000RR as well as removing the restrictor at 9000 RPM. Organised by Tony Lynch for a Saturday morning recently (due to my work commitments) and having their top tech., Will Leaper come in specially (as I live 185 miles away), I am always concerned as to who is going to mess with my bikes (this is my 23rd). As a Mech. Eng. myself, I was very pleased upon asking Will if he was up to speed on these bikes, as I had lowered the rear suspension link as per the BMW manual, as I am vertically challenged and these are high bikes, but he was right there with resetting the DDC function that needed a play on the laptop. He went on to tell me, when introduced by Tony, he had done a full BMW Motorrad apprenticeship, worked for Yamaha in the BSB for a number of years and returned to BMW when the need arose (too many 24hr shifts when the motors pop !). I thought bang on, but when I saw his tool-box from outside the w/shop I knew he was the right person. It was a Snap-On kit, taller then me. All in all a credit to the dealership from whom I bought the bike and an absolute thank you to Tony and Will who are both an asset to Arden and their industry.

Shocking

Booked first service at BMW Preston, red alarm on the way back home. After specifically requesting to check tyre pressure and adjust if needed. Nothing was done. The tyres were significantly below required PSI. Not a great experience for some one lacks confidence on motorway.

Great bikes to a point. Terrible aftercare

The motorcycles are great to a point and the dealer network do what they can whilst not seemingly supported by BMW Motorrad. My bike S1000RR has had numerous electronic issues. As it is now a 2022 bike I do not think that they care all they want to do is focus on new models. Needs a service told it also has a recall on it no parts available so book in for service and then go back for recall parts. No thank you dealership is a 80 mile round trip. Raised this in an email complaint to BMW UK not a word back from them despite 2 emails. They most be so busy dealing with everyone else's complaints. This is a £20,000 bike with a far from platinum service standard. The original fault has never been resolved and could re-appear at any time. It now has a recall issue with no parts and I have no clue what the challenge will be if there is a further problem as it is now outside it service schedule. This is my 5th BMW motorcycle, there will not be any more

Professional dealership

I visited my local dealers (Preston ) on Friday 31st March. I had looked at a bike on their website and called in to take a look. I have dealt with the same dealers for 10 years and always found them to be honest and trusting. I spoke to Brian Braithwaite and explained I would have the bike if the figures were right. I was in a rush so literally left him with it !!!!
What a gent, 30 mins later he rang me and the deal was done.
I picked my new bike up today and everything went so smoothly.
Brian has kept me informed at each stage of the deal, he is exceptionally professional and it was an absolute pleasure to do buisness with Brian. This is how sales executives should behave, others would do well to emulate him. Thanks Bowker, but thanks Brian.

I honestly feel sorry for anyone that purchases a BMW 1600 grand American. Aside from the many electrical problems found on my new K1600GA the bike is unstable and has the wobbles. BMW placed 100 MPH governor on the bike which may limit law suits and death but does not change the fact the bike floats, wobbles and then eventually shakes while riding straight line on the highway over 50 MPH. I know there are some class action suits brewing but that this point BMW is still in damage control - STAY clear from the K1600 grand American.

Warranty service is poor, BMW does not solv issues that are caused by wrong instalment

Though I love my 2019 1250 GS. I am extremely disspointed with BMW's warranty department. Zero stars for that one! What happened. I bought a used 2019 with extended warranty. Mind you that my current dealer is not the same as the one the first owner bougth the bike of, and my dealer has been very helpfull!

From the day i got it I had starting issues. Looked at the battery, it was an original BMW from 2015 (in a 2019 bike!!!) . Batteries usually have not much warranty so i invested in a AGM with better specifications then the one installed (higher cold start current). Issue got less but not gone. So during my maintainance at the dealer, they tell me actually BMW installed a bunch of wrong specified batteries and before anythign else they need to put in the one that's specified now. The dealer does well, and says they will get a refund, depsite being out of warranty, simply because the battery did not have the right specs. I left the shop happy.
Today my dealer phones as says the warranty is not issued since the battery is older then two years. Really guys..... a battery with wrong specifications and you don't give a kulanz for a battery on a bike that has a value of more then 30.000 Euros, one that you know was wrong in the first place. Your jeopordizing your name for that? BMW should be doing better then this, be proud of your quality, fix problems that where caused by your own errors, don't hide behind a 2 year warranty on a battery on a bike that has cost over 30.000 Euros and has an 5 years warranty!

Shame on you BMW, shame on you!!!

Have bought many bikes from Ocean BMW…

Have bought many bikes from Ocean BMW in Plymouth over the years however nearly 3 years ago they had an offer of £1000.00 off a stock bikes unfortunately their P/X offer was £1000.00 less than any other dealer in the Country so travelled to Grimsby and had exemplary service.
My PCP is now due for renewal so had communication from Marshall in Grimsby and they gave me a P/X price on a new and used bike , I then contacted Ocean in Plymouth as they are 10 minutes from me again they have the £1000.00 offer and guess what exactly £1000.00 less P/X than 3 other BMW motorrad dealerships from various locations in the UK the offer is all smoke and mirrors and a con avoid at all cost ! The high turn over of sales staff in this dealership doesn’t help either and Matt who seems to be the person who gives the quotes has very little product knowledge.

Long story short … bought a 2021 bmw…

Long story short … bought a 2021 bmw s1000rr m package in December of 2021 with 3k miles on it. Motor blew witching 3k miles of me owning it. (almost wrecked). BMW replaced it, the the new motor had a pinhole in it and was spraying oil everywhere (almost wrecked) they bought it back and gave me a brand new 2022. Then The water pump weep hole started leaking less than 600 miles. Then bike shut off during a ride (almost crashed as it lunged forward) then they replaced the water pump, cam chain tensioner and sprocket. That went out and got stuck in middle of traffic on a hill. BMW said they will look into it. That was the week of thanksgiving 2022. Still have not heard back. My BMW Case worker Mark Pechko has been unhelpful to say the least. I’m over bmw and the death machines they make. BMW had my 2nd bike for 4 weeks the first time and 7 weeks the second time. I will never own a bmw again with this quality control. I have documented all of this with my R.O.’s And pictures. I really hope bmw makes this situation right.

Get what you pay for

I purchased a pre-owned S1000R. A bike that I have wanted for some time. There were some issues, but Dick Lovett Motorrad were and have been brilliant.
I will say you get what you pay for. After owning a non-European 1000cc naked bike previously, the customer service is no where near in comparison.

Glad to take your money.

Glad to take your money.. Park Lane gave me a dirty bike.. very dirty on hand over.. can you believe it.. they gave me a free first service.. as an apology , ok I thought. Subsequently the battery died. They offered to replace, ok I thought.. after collection it was 3 weeks until I had my bike back. Damaged in storage in about 4 areas. After complaining.. total denial from motorad despite video evidence and non video evidence from pick up that they cant find, Clearly guilty, so what do BMW motorrad do.. block my number. So I cannot complain .So there you are, you decide if you want to buy a BMW motorcycle.

Wolves in sheep's clothing

Wolves in sheep's clothing? Really nice people to deal with at the point of sale but I suggest being careful and DOUBLE CHECK the details.......

Barnstormer 'made a mistake' with the bikes history.

The bike was advertised as two owners on a 1 year old bike. I immediately questioned this at my first enquiry. I was told that it was actually a 1 owner bike but when they had taken the bike in for part exchange the previous owner accidentally completed the V5, adding another owner. After buying the bike and discovering that the bike had been adapted from standard specification I wanted to question the entire machine.

The sale manager (Gary) confirmed the story on the bikes history, one owner and a V5 error. Only after advising Gary that I had written to DVLA and contacted BMW to check the history, suddenly he emailed to say that they had made a mistake.... the bike was actually a demo/loan bike for the first months of it's life before being sold to the second owner. So instead of buying bike with one owner, I had bought a bike that had basically been Bahnstormer's mule bike and ridden by hundreds.

The history might have been made up but at least I had bought a fully inspected BMW Motored Premium Selection bike, so technically it was fully approved.....

Bahnstromer sold the bike in an unroadworthy condition.

The bike had a number of after-market components attached including an additional power supply that was permanently on and thus draining the battery. A new battery had been fitted by Bahnstormer, they then just sold the bike saying that it met discharge standards rather than finding the reason why. Obviously the bike just broke down after three days of my ownership.

Only after the bike broke down and I lifted the seat, I found a power supply just sitting on the engine management system. Some connections had been cut into the wiring loom with poor quality connections, one was disconnected and was arcing on the bodywork, others just left live and tucked away.

The bike had to go back to have all of these components removed. It also needed a new key as the key supplied was bent at the point of sale. The bike also came with after-market yellow fog lights. These lights were illegal as you could not turn them off. Josh in sales told me that I could turn them on and off from within a menu. This was not true. They had been wired into the bikes automatic lighting control and couldn't be turned on or off manually. Essentially bright yellow lights that blinded other drivers. I was advised that the bike would immediately fail an MOT.

Gary defended the after market components stating that they leave them on when they are a high quality. This is another example of 'just sell the bike' rather than spend the money in the workshop to get it right and up to the standards expected with a BMW. For example, the bike had an aftermarket gear shifter cover that was broken and had missing rubbers. Surely this should have bene removed before sale as its non-standard and worse still, broken. Bahnstromer decided to charge me £15 to replace this broken part for a BMW standard part.

After many weeks of emails and visits to Barnstormer I received an email from the Managing Director (Alistair) stating that he was very 'interested' in the situation and he would come back to me the following week. He never contacted me.

Only after then threatening legal action, I received an email to say that they would take the bike back and return my money. This they have done.

I believe that they have a positive culture of being excellent at customer service, but under this 'veneer, it's all about the money.

After buying bikes for 30 years, I've never experienced false bike history or a bike being sold that frankly should never have left the workshop.

Not what I would consider as acceptable for a BMW main dealer and certainly shattered my dream of owning my first R1250RT.

I have now bought another RT from another dealer and hope for a better experience.

I will certainly not trust BMW Motored Exclusive Selection as a rubber stamp to high quality.

Shocking Service - Avoid Lind Motorrad Welwyn Garden City

These guys took my BMW650 GT for a service and parts change back in May 2022 and finally finished the work in September 2022. That's x4 months to service the bike and replace some parts. Excuse for the delay was order time from Germany (when I paid up-front for parts), a covid outbreak at the dealership and having a busy period. I was also spoken to very rudely several times by an account manager who I understand has now left. No compensation was offered and a Summer bike trip with my mate had to be cancelled as a result. The only reason I'd use these guys in the future is as a free bike park, what a shambles and not what you expect from a premium brand like BMW.

Ordered a Windscreen for my BMW S1000R 2021 and picture shows holder and no info to say otherwise (although now looks to have been updated to mention it) so ordered it (EUR 55 to just get DHL to hand it to the post office for 6 weeks to Australia) only to find it doesn't come with the holder part, so had to pay another EUR 55 for a EUR 16 piece. Bet you any money it will arrive without any bolts and washers (i have taken a screenshot this time for when I next complain and they update that too).
