Don’t be fooled by the fancy showroom!
Brought a Ford Ranger back in March 2026. Had an issue with severe burning oil and blue smoke on start up. Booked in for warranty work to investigate and fix and this is where the issues start. Was given a unroadworthy Honda CRV as a courtesy car… bold tires, engine management light and much more was wrong with this vehicle and it instantly dawned on me that there’s bound to be more issues with the truck if this is what their happy to send customers off with. A few days go by and the truck is ‘all sorted’ literally in the yard and 1st start up and still blue smoke and burning oil smell. Course I gave them the benefit of the doubt as there may of been oil left over that would burn off after a bit of a drive. After a week emailed to say issue we’re still present and had it booked in for deeper investigation. Took the car there and waited… and waited… and waited. Turns out blocked dpf and their sourcing one to replace it (bare in mind this truck had a COMPLETELY CLEAN MOT! Which of course was done by BM Automotive themselves. Go figure). Days and days had gone by and I couldn’t hold off not having a work truck so called to collect the vehicle. On pick up Dave the workshop manager informs me that it’s not actually blocked but it’s a gutted DPF. It appears there’s no new dpfs in the UK and after a month of waiting for one to magically appear (funnily Ford could get me one the next working day at Vospers). So along with that and a list of issues from Speedo being 5/6 mph out of sync, 2 oil leaks, both front inside tires below legal limit and more that were emailed and completely ignored I’m now close to the end of rejecting this unroadworthy/ illegal vehicle for a full refund. Private engineer came out to inspect and deemed one of the oil leaks being so bad that it wasn’t safe to take on a test drive as it was driving into the dpf (fire hazard) and confirmed the DPF had non oem welding and clearly been tampered with along with incorrect readings on a vehicle scanner when testing the dpf. Reported to Trading Standards and DVSA. So glad we didn’t go ahead and buy the Range Rover SV we had our eye on too. 100% dodged a bullet there! If you’ve brought a vehicle of thinking of doing so I would absolutely recommend getting a safety check. Due diligence is a must with all garages but you’d think for a company that have so many Ford Rangers to sell they’d be on top of the issues they present. Not impressed full stop. And as for the body repairs… think the bloke needs to find a new line of work. Peeling paint, over spray all over windows, masking tape left on vehicle, piss poor prep and masking. Honestly the list goes on and on that it’s beyond a joke at this point. Can’t wait to see the back of it when it’s collected.
