Made the first time adoption process so easy and stress free. So happy we chose Blue Cross, we are thrilled with our little kitty 😺 would absolutely recommend adopting from here!

Blue cross is no longer a charity. Far from it. They don't care if your a disabled struggling on basic pensioner. Its £15 every time you phone. No sooner off the phone someone calls to push for card payments. They use to save pups infections and complications by neutering for free. Now it's £250. If you can't afford it it's tough they won't help you. Extremely money motivated with no concessions for the elders and poorest. Went from wonderful charity to a heartless business as still has the nerve to call themselves a charity.

I have adopted a beautiful cat called Tonks from the Blue Cross at Thirsk. I had tragically lost a cat a few months before and was debating what to do. I decided to give a cat a home and I am so blessed to have her. The staff were amazing and I’m so grateful.

Our first ever cat adoption was handled brilliantly by Blue Cross, Suffolk. Holly and the entire team were so friendly, organised and professional. Everything was explained in detail with full history of our dear little four legged friend - he had undoubtedly been so well looked after, thank you.

Wonderful, kind, caring experienced staff and the animals so well looked after. The rehoming experience was also very straightforward and although we’ve kept hamsters for years we still got good up to date advice & insights about best care. Our hamster had been handled by staff so was really very tame and adaptable, more so than ones from a conventional pet shop.

I had an amazing experience adopting my pony. To two ladies I dealt with were both brilliant and helped match me and my current, horse to my Bluecross pony. Everything ran smoothly and within 2 weeks I brought her home.
I have received emails checking how things are going. I would certainly recommend rehoming through the Bluecross and will do again in the future.

Adopted a cat from this centre. The staff I dealt with were lovely and seemed very professional. I was advised that the cat had had some mild diarreah but that their vets hadn't been able to find a physical reason for it and had pronounced the cat fit to rehome. When asked if the cat was well in every other way I was assured she was, that she had a healthy appetite and they were putting the diarreah down to the stress of having been at the rehoming centre for 3 months - this I was told was because they had had a lot of kittens in and kittens always got taken first over older cats. The cat had allegedly been donated to the centre upon the death of its owner, another stress trigger.
We were promised a follow up phone call "in a few days" to see how the cat was getting on, but this never happened.
After having the cat for a few days we began to wonder about the truth of what we had been told. Her "healthy appetite" turned out to be not the case and we have been struggling to get her to eat anywhere near the required amount for her size, or to drink much liquid. She appeared to have been traumatised in the past, as she is scared of everything - loud noises, feet, people getting to close to her, and being picked up, which suggests she may well have been abused, not what you would expect from allegedly living with an 'elderly lady', so either the homing centre were being evasive or whoever donated her did not tell the truth about her past.
So, rather than gaining a loving pet, we now feel like carers to one, and have now got to pay for tests to try and ascertain the real reason for her digestive issues, which really ought to have been done before she was put up for adoption but obviously the charity either can't afford, or doesn't want to spend the money on. Not that we mind doing so, but we feel like we were somewhat misled by the homing centre in order for them to get rid of a 'problem animal'. I would be reluctant to adopt from this charity again in the future.

I cannot recommend the Blue Cross highly enough, after taking the tough decission to rehome my horse and looking at some different options the Blue Cross came out on top, i was put in contact with the amazing Amy@Rolleston who took the stress and upset out the whole process from start to finish , going through the Blue Cross to rehome my boy has removed all the if,s , buts, doubts an dreads i may of had selling him to a private buyer ,as the do home checks and guarantee a good home is found. If like me you find yourself looking to rehome your horse id seriously recommend the Blue Cross they dont just take in welfare cases but help private owners out of difficult situations aswell 10 star all round service.

Disgusting - these people do not care, more fool you if you trust them.
My poor dad passed away and left behind his beloved and beautiful dog. His right-hand man, there was noone but the two of them.
We took him in and yes it was hard bit slowly earned his trust and he stayed with us for 3 months. Sadly due to us having a very unsociable little doggy, working full time and away a lot, we went down the adoption route with Blue Cross in Exeter. We did everything they asked, expensive vet bills etc to give him the clear bill of health they required.
Marlow, our beautiful Springer, was on their website for less than an hour and had so much interest, he was reserved within minutes. He then spent time with them and they wanted him and we loved them so agreed it was a good match.
The day came, we went to the Blue Cross in Exeter (our whole family), we sobbed in the carpark but knew and ware reassured it was the best thing.l, perfect match etc.
We said such sad goodbyes. I had written the new owners a long letter, they knew the situation and how loyal Marlow was and that it would take time, I also reassured them that if they ever wanted a holiday or needed a break, we'd be over the moon to help and stay in his life, they gave us their number too. It seemed perfect.
My husband had a bit of time this morning, I said, 'why don't you call them, see how he is etc' he did and they informed us that they had returned him to the Blue Cross (within a week).
My husband quickly got off the phone and called the Blue Cross, who initially would not take the call 'everyone is in a meeting'
He then got a call back and the lady said it was returned on bank holiday Monday as he wouldn't settle - a dog lover in these circumstances knowing takes more than a week! It my my dad's dag and it took baby steps for weeks and week before he started to trust - we got there!
Anyway, they returned him last monday and the Blue Cross killed him the same day! He was 12, they knew this, he had a bill of health etc.
They didn't call us, they didn't even take a couple of hours to discuss it and meet to discuss the dogs best needs. They knew the sorry situation and what he meant to us and also that we'd be there
Their 'no contact' policy, they thought was intact and that we'd never find out - they don't know we'd exchanged details.
How disgusting, who the hell works there, not dog lovers, were the beds full? Let's kill this one, noone will ever know!
This is no charity for the good of animals. I feel sick trusting in them and that this poor dog has been utterly let down
Shame on ALL of you

The who thing from start to finish was hood the reference of our chosen dog was easy as in we had our own things to look for in a new family member.
Once we had chosen we were contacted and made our first contact with our dog then it was sit back and wait while we were waiting they kept us upto date with everything they were doing.
Friendly service and great results we now have a happier home and a new dog who settled in very well.
I would highly recommend.
