Blackvue970xl The Blackview camera…
Blackvue970xl The Blackview camera isn't worth the money.
Buy cheaper you will be happy.
Disappointed – Slow, Glitchy, Overpriced, and Poor Night Performance
Could give zero if I could.
I have the full BlackVue setup, including the battery pack and SIM card, but the experience has been extremely disappointing. The camera and app are slow to respond, glitch frequently, and often fail to operate as expected. Night recording is basically useless if the car is parked on a dark street with no lights, which defeats the purpose of having a dashcam. For the price, I expected much better performance, reliability, and true 24/7 recording capability. I cannot recommend this dashcam in its current state.
Do not buy Blackvue
Apple CarPlay prevents a wifi connection. Tech support advises turning off Apple CarPlay every time a user wants to check the camera, as there is no screen on the device. I noted that I paid a premium for this device and need a solution. I proposed purchasing the LTE device at a monthly cost if it would resolve my connectivity issue. They thought it was a great idea and offered 20% off the device, provided I spent at least $200 USD in their store. The device with a 20% discount is $113 USD. When I said I would not be gouged, Angelo and tech support could only say sorry, but he's out of ideas.
I saw the negative reviews about the app before purchasing, but I was optimistic, and now I'm stuck with it. I am not paying to have the camera uninstalled and go through the whole process again. I will just have to work through the connectivity issues. In the meantime, I will warn anyone not to buy Blackvue.
Horrific app design
Used to work great with an easy to use app. They have updated the app now and it's easily the worst design I have ever seen. Not user friendly and barely connects now. Truly awful I'm now looking at replacing it.
Don't bother with the expensive waste of money.
Got an expensive blackvue front and back cam which cost a packet. I've had it professionally installed and yet I've still had glitches. The camera interferes with the radio even after adding( i think they are called suppressors) by installers. On top of that over the last year had issues accessing the camera in general and now it says I am not connected to WIFI on the app. Which wont open apparently the same as everyone else it seems.
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Gareth W is the worst; he knows nothing about the product.
The batteries are a fire hazard. They are made in China, and when they swell, they can catch fire, especially during the summer.
I should have checked Trustpilot…
I should have checked Trustpilot reviews before buying a $600 dash cam. A month later, I try and change the settings on the dash cam using the BlackVue app, and the app tells me this device has been blacklisted. I had purchased it new from Best Buy, and the device is outside of its return window. BlackVue support basically said that the device was previously reported stolen and that I need to contact Best Buy. When I called Best Buy, they were clueless as to what I'm asking of them. They said they only sell new products and that I should contact the manufacturer for support. BlackVue does not stand behind its products, and does not take accountability. Good luck to them, because with this type of customer treatment, they won't go far.
It has flattened my battery twice in 4…
It has flattened my battery twice in 4 months on my new car and I have been told there is big problems with it doing that yet the sales people till sell them. They are not covered by the warranty and the car yard suggests turning it off. So why have it ? And then refund it ?
Camera worked for 2yrs then suddenly…
Camera worked for 2yrs then suddenly stopped and started turning on and off waste of money!
Avoid this product at all costs!
One of the worst products I have ever…
One of the worst products I have ever bought, failure after failure unit after unit, lousy customer service and issues with the installer who at first refused to remove it and refund my money a £1K waste of money avoid at all costs, you have been warned!!!
Well avoid this company like the plague…
Well avoid this company like the plague they are nasty and think they are above the law I've had several dash cams from this company and have had issues with them most of them have been rectified however there was an issue that happened the other day with my 970x LTE plus where the cell service just stop working I followed all the online instructions to try and get it working again to know avail. I then email their customer support waited a few days got no response so drafted up a legal letter basically telling their under the consumer guarantees act they are under obligation to fix it blah blah they then came back and told me they want it sent back and they would refund me in full I was not happy with this as I just been a fortune having the car hardwired and all their cabling run and got the camera for a good price having to do this would put me at a huge disadvantage and cost me money having to change everything over they claim the camera was discontinued and they could not replace it I then asked about refurbished ones and they claimed that they were old and would probably not be up to my standard so the only way forward was a refund. Reluctantly under duress I accepted this refund got everything packed up told them it would be sent and then I thought I would check the camera one more time to make shore 100% it was dead sure enough I turned it on and blow me down it worked the LTE feature had been disabled now I sure as hell didn't disable it there was also issues with cell towers and our area that I found out about so I emailed them back apologize and told them the cameras going fine I won't be sending it back I apologize if I had upset anybody as things got a bit heated at times. I then get an email from them telling me that they consider the issue fixed blah blah blah and they will no longer communicate with me and any further emails I send will be automatically deleted and not replied to there was also an email that I received written by a lady called Sue who is the manager I don't think I was meant to get it that basically said something along the lines of don't worry he can't make a charge back after 180 days or something and we can't refund after 180 days so basically I have a camera that only three months old they offer a two-year warranty if that camera breaks down again they have refused in their email to it knowledge any emails from me and to have any dealing with me therefore they and breach of the warranty as the camera was sold with a two year warranty they can't just do that because I complain and they don't like it. They'll say I fabricated things like really things to do with my life considered around and make up stories about dash cams breaking and when they happen it's a huge inconvenience as you have seen things back so why on earth would I fabricate stuff so it's basically looking like they have clearly admitted in an email that they refuse to have any more communications with me so basically if my camera broke down in six weeks time they would refuse to honor the warranty which under the consumer guarantees act in NZ is illegal so I have sent all the emails through to my credit card company and requested a chargeback now before it gets too late. They obviously have lots of issues with their cameras as I can see by the comments here just stay away from them there are far better cameras like next base or think where and much cheaper and much more better customer service.
Piece of Trash
Two seperate occasions my car has been run into. Both of these times, nothing appears on my camera. I believe this to be due to after 7 hours footage being written over. This camera is useless. I payed alot of money only for it not be working. It is a piece of trash. Do not buy it.
Had my DR770X front and rear camera…
Had my DR770X front and rear camera fitted in August I’ve had nothing but trouble being told it’s my heated windscreen affecting the signal it needs to be moved so it was moved still having GPS and recording issues not to mention I can’t remote play back or remote live view and absolutely nobody wants to take responsibility Blackvue say it’s not faulty the fitters say it’s fitted properly and working fine when it left them which may be correct but it’s still not working when in my vehicle I’ll never buy Blackvue again and in future ask will my windscreen affecting the signal it’s performance
Spent 100s on Camera and accessories
Spent 100s on Camera, power battery and wifi module. Battery faulty, wont refund, Camera needed firmware update, wifi module wont connect. Support service utterly abysmal. Purchased a Nextbase for my partners car, quarter of the price, easy to install, worked straight out the box. Blackvue - waste of money.
Company got in touch after this review, to apparently help.
After one response they ignored any further messages.
Biggest regret
Biggest regret buying something from these guys. Product is awful and customer service is even worse. £240 gone down the drain!!!!
Not happy
The jury is out
The jury is out. I've just spent over £500 on the DR97 0X plus (2 channel) model, and it's so tricky to use. The app/text is too small, and despite having a 4K camera, when I playback the video in digital, it is in low resolution.
I have a 4K Nextbase fitted on another vehicle, it cost around the same and the quality is superior, and most of all it is so easy to use. I regret purchasing BlackVue.
Overated
Overated, unnecessary complicated, and fails to work on GPS despite being professionally fitted.
If I could give it less than 1 star I…
If I could give it less than 1 star I would of. Waste of time and money. I've spent £399.99 plus £80.00 to get this expensive dashcam fitted due to buy a new car. I needed something that was meant to be good and that it sends you notifications when something hits your vehicle.
I've spent almost 45 minutes on the phone to blackvue customer service team for help, when you will find they are all Americans with a awful line signal. You click on the UK and you still get transferred to USA team, or it could be Indian call centre who sounds American.
After waiting for so long, they said I need to be near the car to be able to use the blackvue app. I wad in shock when it early states that I can con ect it to the could and you can get access wherever you are. I called again and spoken to someone else and explained the situation that I can't get access to my videos even when your in the car. They ended up saying I either need a sim card and using a part that cost another £189.00 which will be fitted on to the front windscreen. I wad in total shock. After paying so much for this rubbish, I now need to pay more for this small stick on your car so you csn connect your app and use your app wherever you are, when early it states on the description that it comes with the dashcam and no need to buy extra equipment.
I went back to Halfords and the guy who installed it was helpful but he said maybe that's how black ue works. I should of gone with Nextbase which wad my first initial idea, but I thought I'll give blackvue ago and pay more for something like push notifications when you are away from your car. Also I got told you can use a hotspot but again, you need to be near your vehicle for that to work. I mean WTF . Totally waste of money and I eillbe warning others not to buy a money putt Blackvue dashcam.
So bad
So bad
Trying to watch playback and download video
Absolutely terrible takes forever
Definitely need a new dashcam
I had my dash cam for 3 years now
I had my dash cam for 3 years now, all good till last week.
Now the camera continues to restart and dead loop.
Contact BlackVue for help and open a RMA.
they are asking for $100-$160 for a replacement.
Looks like am not the only one with similar problems when the dashcam doesn't recognise the sdcard even if super fast and from big brands.
Totally disappointed.
Avoid the scam
