This is the worst airport I have ever…
This is the worst airport I have ever travelled from. I think the airport staff need to have some hospitality/customer service training. The 2 ladies on the express line, which I paid extra money to use, were the most rude, unhelpful people I have ever come across. Senior management need to look at these reviews and make some changes. I will try to avoid this airport in the future.
I’d give it no stars ideally
I’d give it no stars ideally. Unacceptable security check in for a simple short flight. Just avoid this dump if you can
Worst security check in system at an…
Worst security check in system at an airport I’ve ever experienced. Utter chaos. Expect delays and give yourself hours of time to go through
Is this Europe's worst airport?
Enormous security queues because never more than 50% of the scanners are in use, disgusting facilities (especially toilets), and the monorail is still partly out of service months after work was supposed to be completed. A miserable experience, as ever.
Terrible organisation of security queue…
Terrible organisation of security queue and takes ages - I use Manchester , Heathrow and others but only Birmingham security takes 40 mins plus -others less than 15 minutes
Lane queues to get in the lifts!
Lane queues to get in the lifts!! ( no obvious stairs), queues released at random..... then more queues for security
At least one of luggage scanning lanes not open...insufficient staff?
Pick another airport... i will
Excessive Security delay
Travelled mid day on Saturday 28th of February. Not bad , but the queue for the security check took 40 minutes. Lots of security check positions unmanned, it was an ordinary day with predictable travel volumes, so assume management incompetence, I had exactly the same experience last year
Disgraceful experience at Birmingham airport
Just flew back from Geneva (5 star airport) to absolutely disgraceful and rubbish Birmingham airport. The experience was like landing in a 3rd world country. Old fashioned Dirty facilities filthy floors no organisation whatsoever. It should better be closed and refurbished
There was a fault with the heating…
There was a fault with the heating today causing the baggage area to be badly overheated and the rest of the airport moderately overheated. This is especially unhelpful as the lack of airbridges mean you have to dress for a potentially prolonged wait outside. Also the issue with only notifying you which side of the airport departs from and any delays at the last moment is ongoing.
Quotations for Parking at Birmingham airport- be careful of NCP
Well! Well! Well! I looked to book carparking at NCP Birmingham Airport on my PC. Before completing I moved off the webpage to register so as to save time with future bookings. Found the page had timedout but now registered my parking quote had gone fro £185 to £256!
Out comes the lap top and I returned to the parking booking page but declined to accept all 'cookies'.
What do you know? The price has gone back down to £185. BEWARE! I call this process suspicious.
What a truly awful experience
What a truly awful experience, pretty much queues for everything apart from the pay for trolleys, the duty free shops and the pay for lounges. Every aspect is designed to fleece you whilst offering the bare minimum of service.
Absolutely Awful
This airport is going from bad to worse. Not only is the building work just not moving along and is a complete mess, the security had half the lanes open in half term week with 3 staff on each belt that was open. They couldn't run a brewery.
If I could give this place a minus I would!
If I could give this place a minus score I would. It is a disgusting, badly run airport with incompetent rude staff.
Yesterday I checked in for a flight to Berlin. I checked one bag into the hold and took one as cabin luggage. The woman on the checkout desk was so keen on trying to make me pay for my cabin bag (which I always take as cabin luggage on that flight free of charge) that she failed to attach the luggage label to my hold case. The result was that it was never loaded and I discovered this in Berlin. I wasted two hours in Berlin airport before embarking on my car journey. I later called Birmingham airport who informed me that it would be put on that afternoon's flight to Frankfurt and transported by courier from there to me. It was not. I called this morning and was told be a very rude woman that it was not on the Frankfurt flight but had been sent on a flight to another airport this morning. She could not give me the name of thew airport but it transpired to be Leipzig. I asked her what happens now and she told me I would have to call Leipizig. She then hung up on me.
It is the responsibility of Birmingham Airport to ensure that my luggage reaches me quickly and in one piece. My case contains important documents and items I urgently need out here and it is still not here.
Birmingham Airport is 51 per cent owned by an Australian private equity outfit called Macquarie Asset Management, who try to screw every penny they can out of the airport and its passengers. That is why there is such inadequate provision for disabled people, passengers now have to pay £2 to use a trolley and if a taxi drops you off at the terminal there is a charge of £6. It is also why the staff are as rude as they are.
No British airport should be owned by foreigners, least of all money grubbing private equity outfits. Birmingham Airport is appalling and it is because it is badly run and used as a milch cow by foreign private equity.
Update: This afternoon, Birmingham Airport staff have told me that my bag did go to Frankfurt and then to Leipzig. They have lied to ne and wasted my time. They could not care less. What an appalling outfit!
Absolutely joke of an airport
Absolute joke of an airport, it’s so disgraceful it’s beyond belief, so so poorly run. Needs sorting out and fast
Unfortunately BHX is not set up for A380s…
Unfortunately BHX is not set up to handle the A380. Departure requires the use of two departure lounges which is okay but arrivals is a nightmare especially for those passenger requiring assistance who are seated on the top deck.
There is no direct air bridge access to the arrivals level with disabled passengers needing to use a lift to get down to the arrivals level. This lift can handle just two wheelchairs at a time. Wheelchair passengers are then stored in the arrivals level waiting to be transported to Immigration via just two golf cart style transport which can carry just five persons. That's just two wheelchair passengers with their carers plus one other at a time. It is obviously impossible to financially justify investment to accommodate just one A380 per day but at least warn passengers of the limited facilities so that they have the choice.
What is wrong with Birmingham airport?
What is wrong with Birmingham airport? They have changed everything around (again) and now you have to queue to get a lift to departures! Then you have to join a queue through security that is longer than ever. We travelled mid January and from arriving on the train to getting to our gate, it took over 90 minutes. I pity anyone travelling this summer.
For disability access
For disability access, this is one of the worst airports. The accessible toilets are hit and miss from not having a red cord/ toilet seats with the wrong height/ no grab rails/ accessible toilets in male and female toilets... its embarrassing for a male carer to try and enter a female toilet to assist his disabled spouse because a disabled toilet is in there. The lack of radar keys also allows anyone (not talking about hidden disabilities or other genuine reasons) to go in and take a dump when there are loads of other appropriate toilets available. Has the airport even hired a disability consultant? Who knows.. there is also a lack of communication between the ground crew and the special assist team. We basically ended up having to wait outside in the cold for an ambi lift because special assistance had not told the ground crew of the need. When it comes to feeding tubes, the security team need to be mindful not to pull the tube and ensure that the tube clips are locked are searching! Respectfully ask the disabled person if its okay to do something or ask for consent otherwise my wife could have leaked out gastric fluid from her intestines... the poor staff need proper management to train and motivate them. All of the above is from our most recent experience departing birmingham airport.
Go Team Support Services 🥳🥳
I had never had to go through the process of travelling alone while being disabled ,so I was quite nervous about the whole thing.
From the moment I stepped into the support service area I was immediately looked after. The staff were very kind , professional and attentive, nothing was too much trouble.
Although my flight was cancelled they made sure that I was escorted to my taxi and also waited with me untill it arrived and helped me into it.
I really appreciated them all, they are a wonderful team.
And a special shout out to Michael, who definitely went the extra mile to help.
A big thank you to the whole team 😁😁😁👍👍👍
Birmingham Airport Avoid at all costs
I travel extensively around the EU .
I can say 100% Birmingham airport is the most miss managed poorly run airports I have experienced.
From loading delays baggage miss handling and air port security they are appalling! The airport is local to me but I will avoid at all costs if there is an alternative.
Left on tramac after arrival, no jetway, stariway lift not functioninig
I was left on the tarmac after disembarking KL 1049 with no help after disembarking. I cannot use stairs, so was last off the aircraft, with help (no jetway in use, no advance warning). Stairway to terminal is three levels, impossible for me. Lift was not working. Help was gone. Pressed help button in lift several times. No answer. I had to literally crawl up the stairs, took a long time. Door at top was locked. I banged on the door until someone (very surprised) came to open it. Wrote to airport, no response. Phoned and left message for return call -- no return call.
