When I recently joined Lillie Road Fitness centre Richard was very welcoming and showed me round. As an older person (seventies) he said the gym welcomes all ages. I have used the gym once and I'm very happy with the range of machines, free weights etc.

I keep getting emails telling me there…
I keep getting emails telling me there are spaces available for my fitness class, but when I go back in to book, I am told I'm still on the waiting list and the only option for me is leave the waiting list and not to book.

I would recommend this leisure centre
Ive just started this leisure centre at byker and the gym has everything you need also the swimming facilities is great. The prices of memberships are fair I would recommend this leisure centre.

Children’s swimming lessons are too…
Children’s swimming lessons are too short, I think it need to be at least 45 mins. For 1 once a week lessons it’s way too short. And children would benefit from at least 45 mins.

Heated open air swimming
Much improved since Better took over the facility having redecorated the wet side changing room and fixed some of the long standing maintenance issues. Best of all the water temperature is very comfortable for the time of year thanks to the new boilers. The 33m pool is not too busy with lanes for slow and fast swimmers generally with 2-3 in each but often a lane to oneself. Staff are always on hand friendly and helpful. The facility still requires investment to improve and update showers and changing rooms but overall Better has made huge improvement and providing a great service. I cannot comment on the gym and classes but know they are replacing much of the equipment in November.

Easy to register and good course availability. Good pool and teachers are patient and considerate.
Had an issue with initial confirmation apparently coming from a much further out leisure centre but it soon got corrected / clarified over a call.

The staff are friendly
The staff are friendly, the location and parking facilities good. It's also on a good public transport route. Large pool opening times have relatively recently increased. This is welcome. Increased opening hours in the learner pool would be welcome.
Cleanliness could be improved significantly especially in the shower cubicles - walls and hair removal. Floor cleanliness is hindered by the uneven floor surfaces. The plumbing in showers, sauna is poor with temperature selection none existent, timed shower spray inconsistent, (sometimes requiring constant depression whilst showering). It is not uncommon for more than one shower to be out of order. Shower cubicle door has 'gone missing' and not been replaced in female changing.

Finally made it back to Better after a…
Finally made it back to Better after a hiatus from training. Slid right back in and a big part of that is the consistent high level service and positive environment - very welcoming, supportive on the gym floor inc. sound technical advice and great atmosphere. I haven’t done the classes (training is a solo pursuit for me!) but have heard good things about them too. 5/5 x

Gymnastic Party
My daughter had her 6th gymnastic birthday party here. All of the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful. The space was set up before we arrived and cleaned for us afterwards. The children loved the facilities, games and activities during the session and all of the parents were very impressed! Highly recommend.

Great ski school provision for beginners
We used the ski school at Gosling's dry slope for lessons for our children. The staff were excellent. They helped our children get over the initial nerves and tailored the lessons to each of their individual abilities really well, helping both to develop very quickly. The facility itself is well setup for beginners with plenty of spaces for gradual increases in skill and capability. All in all, really impressed and appreciative of the help.

Finally talking to a real person Mary helped me to resolve my problems with my membership.
Thankyou Mary, a real person is 100% better than AI systems. She cut through the misunderstandings and I now have a membership that will enable me to get back to swimming and hopefully yoga... I really happy about this.
